As a kid, I never truly knew what I would do in life and I did not see myself going to a four year college. One day I saw a video about Western Welding Academy and it truly seemed that this would be the perfect education for me. In school, I learned that I am a hands-on learner and this trade school checked all of the boxes for my goals. As a kid I always worked for everything I have. I never wanted to put the burden of the cost of me onto my parents. My family is currently helping my sister pay for further education. It is my goal to be able to pay for all of my tuition by myself. I always put in my best effort and try the hardest at all challenges that come my way. My first two years of high school I did not know what would come in the future. When I found Western Welding Academy I knew this school would be something I could see myself going into. During the past year, I have been setting goals for myself. My goal is to become a traveling pipeline rig welder. Western Welding Academy is one of the best schools for this certification. At WWA, they have multiple simulations and opportunities to help you practice situations that you would see in the workplace. In high school, I was introduced to welding by Scott Garwood and it was something that I connected to. After finishing taking all of the welding courses at our high school, Scott Garwood recommended that I dual enroll at Kirkwood to get more experience welding. I am currently enrolled at Kirkwood taking the year-long welding course. I have learned a lot of knowledge from my instructor Scott Corell, not only welding knowledge, but also knowledge of life and work. I have earned 2 certifications in Mig and Tig welding. Before the end of the school year I intend to get my certifications in CNC(Computer Numerical Control). In order to achieve my ultimate goal of pipeline welding, I will be attending Western Welding Academy to earn my certification as a Professional Pipe Welder. This certification will help me get my foot in the door at several different pipeline companies. The cost of this certification is $25,700 + housing. After the completion of my certification I plan on getting a job as a helper on a pipeline to get more experience on it. After being a helper for a year I'm going to work on finding a job being my own pipeline rig welder. I see myself being a major impact to many people. I'm going to put in the work to do my best and follow my dreams. Lots of people from small towns have big dreams but they never truly work towards the dreams that they want. I'm going to put in the hard work so see myself achieve these dreams of becoming a pipeline rig welder. I will also use my knowledge and share it with others to grow as a person and also help others expand their knowledge. I want to be able to show others out in the world that with hard work and dedication you can do whatever you put your effort and mind to. Im excited to get on my own in life and start to pursue my dream of being a pipeline rig welder and this is the first step to following my dreams and succeeding in life and being successful. Thank you for considering me for this scholarship as I work to follow my dreams.
