Hello! I am interested in becoming a nurse practitioner or pursuing dentistry. Since I recently moved from Canada during my junior year, I am going through the scholarship process alone rather than with my friends & family. It would greatly assist me in pursuing my healthcare career if I was able to navigate the next steps for my education without having to stress about the heavy financial aspects, post-secondary in tales. I am hoping to lower the financial burden through the use of scholarships!

Ward Green Scholarship for the Arts & Sciences
Moving to Texas and witnessing the shortages in nurses allowed me to want to help and wholeheartedly commit myself to pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). I believe this educational path will not only fulfill my career aspirations but also enable me to make a substantial impact on my community. I do not just want to stop at a BSN degree. I want to get my CRNA degree (a master's degree) right after and further my education and care for others. My choice to study nursing transcends being a mere career decision; it's a calling rooted in my personal experiences, cultural values, and a profound desire to serve my community in a profound and meaningful way.
The scholarship I'm applying for holds immense significance in my pursuit of academic and career goals. It represents an opportunity to receive vital financial support, enabling me to embark on my journey toward a CRNA—a degree that equips me with the essential knowledge and skills to become a registered nurse anesthetist.
My Filipino background has instilled in me a resilient and adaptable spirit. Like many Filipinos, my family and I have encountered substantial challenges while seeking better opportunities overseas. This spirit of perseverance drives me to excel academically and to embrace the inevitable challenges that accompany the pursuit of a nursing degree.
The financial assistance provided by this scholarship goes beyond alleviating the financial burden of tuition and related expenses. It offers me the chance to focus intensively on my studies and community engagement. This financial support will enable me to fully immerse myself in my education, clinical experiences, and extracurricular activities, ultimately propelling me towards academic excellence.
Throughout high school, I've proactively sought opportunities to prepare for my nursing journey. I've enrolled in advanced science courses, actively participated in health-related extracurricular activities, and volunteered at local hospitals and clinics such as an elderly home. The elderly home was one of my favorite volunteer opportunities, as it allowed me to witness the need for nurses and the amount of responsibility it entails. These experiences have not only deepened my passion for nursing but have also provided me with invaluable practical insights into the profession.
In summary, my commitment to pursuing nursing as a means of giving back to my community and making a positive impact on the lives of others is unwavering. This scholarship will be instrumental in facilitating my educational journey, allowing me to excel academically and continue my mission of serving my community through the field of healthcare. I'm enthusiastic about embarking on this path and immensely grateful for your consideration of my scholarship application. Thank you for granting me the opportunity to share my aspirations and dedication to the field of nursing.
Eras Tour Farewell Fan Scholarship
When I was trying to find A Place In This World, Taylor Swift felt like the only thing getting me Out Of The Woods. The Eras Tour has been a part of one of the most challenging journeys of my life. Growing up, my dad only had two CDs for our old rusty minivan. There was a CD filled with old pop music and Speak Now by Taylor Swift. As a little kid, her enchanting production captivated me. When Red came out in 2012, I saved up my money from Christmas that year and bought the CD as soon as I possibly could. My very first concert was her 1989 tour in Edmonton, Alberta. I remember hearing an acoustic version of Fearless live and making incredible memories with my family that night. I truly feel like I have grown up with Taylor Swift and she has changed my life for the better. Just under a year ago, I moved from Alberta, Canada to Lubbock, Texas. I had to leave my life of good friends and a healthy relationship behind me. Right around this time, her latest album Midnights had been released and The Eras Tour was officially announced. The song You’re On Your Own Kid really spoke to me during this time. Giving my blood, sweat, and tears to become something successful just for it all to be thrown away felt like all of my work was for nothing. I understood Never Grow Up more than I ever had because I knew what it felt like to feel alone in a new place knowing nothing. Come Back… Be Here went from a song I used to sing along in the car, to my reality. In a time when I felt the most unlike myself and a time when I thought no one was there for me, Taylor Swift’s music was. Whether I was in the mood to sing, scream, dance, or cry, her music perfectly encapsulated my complex emotions. When the tour dates were announced, I was so excited to be able to see her in person. However, with moving across the continent, money was stretched tight as it was. Tickets seemed unimaginable to me in a time full of uncertainty and hardship. When she began to tour, all I would look forward to was what surprise songs she’d play that night, what the setlist looked like, or what new outfit she would be wearing. The Eras Tour gave me something to look forward to and it brought me so much light in a time of loneliness. Without Taylor Swift, I would still see the world in black and white. She added so much light and screaming colour to my and so many other’s lives that anyone, even people who aren’t fans of her music, will enjoy her show and create evergreen memories.
Alexander de Guia Memorial Scholarship
As a first-generation Filipino immigrant, I have firsthand experience with the difficulties of establishing a new life in a distant nation, and I am motivated to use my education to make a positive effect on the world and create a better future for those in similar situations. Higher education is not only my ambition but also a means of empowering my community and beyond.
This scholarship would assist me in achieving my aim of furthering my education in the medical industry. I want to make a difference in the lives of immigrants and underprivileged areas. I intend to use my academics to pursue nursing, specifically becoming a nurse practitioner, to encourage and advise many other Filipino nurses, as most Filipinos can leave the Philippines because they have a nursing degree. I am aware that, due to a severe lack of nurses, many Filipinos will have the unique opportunity to leave the third world that is the Philippines, and I wish to assist in this endeavor. I also wish to be considered for this scholarship since education is more than just a tool for personal development; It promotes empathy, understanding, and compassion for others. By pursuing higher education, I hope to raise the voices of those who are often silenced and push for policies that address socioeconomic inequities while also promoting diversity and inclusivity in the nursing workforce.
I left the Philippines with my parents and older brother when I was five years old. I didn't realize how fortunate my family was to be able to live in a first-world country without having to worry about food or a leaking roof, as many Filipinos do every day. Coming from a large family with three aunts and two uncles on my mother's side and the same on my father's side, moving was especially difficult because my family was the very first to leave the Philippines seeking better possibilities in jobs, education, and healthcare. It was extremely difficult for my parents because we had no relatives or support structure to rely on. I want to be a support system for others in the healthcare field and give empathy and expertise to my patients and my coworkers.
Receiving this scholarship would be a life-changing experience for me. This scholarship stipend would take a tremendous burden off my shoulders, allowing me to concentrate on my academics. Furthermore, it would allow me to participate in extracurricular activities and community service, both of which are important components of my educational path. I volunteered in an elderly home and gained experience with the working circumstances of the healthcare profession. I am happy about the experience since it allowed me to observe not just the patients' perspectives but also the nurses' perspectives. This scholarship would be tremendously valuable to me because it would assist me in covering the numerous expenditures associated with college, such as forming, textbooks and even school supplies. I'm also considering getting my master's degree in nursing so that I can become a nurse practitioner and give back even more to my community. This scholarship would be extremely beneficial to my quest for higher education and would allow me to receive greater opportunities throughout my college years.
Overall, this scholarship grant would help me realize my dream of making a great difference in the world. It would relieve my family's financial burden while allowing me to focus on my academics and give back to the community. I am devoted to using my degree to help others, and I am excited to contribute to a more equal and compassionate workforce.
Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
As a senior in high school who changed schools during my junior year, my journey with mental health has been substantial and has had a big impact on my objectives, relationships, and worldview. This turbulent time tested my fortitude while also teaching me priceless life lessons and fostering my personal development.
I experienced the feeling of being a ship at sea when I changed schools. My mental health suffered as a result of the strange surroundings and the intense stress of adjusting to a new academic and social environment. My prior successes seemed to be eclipsed by a feeling of loneliness and self-doubt, which made me anxious and depressed. In the depths of my mental troubles, I understood the significance of asking for assistance and speaking uparing my emotions with others. As a result of my efforts to contact friends and family, their steadfast support served as my anchor. I developed good coping mechanisms for my emotions through counseling. This method helped me to develop empathy, which helped me to better comprehend the challenges of those around me. It also benefited my mental health.
My aspirations have been greatly influenced by my experience with mental health. My objectives were mostly academic before I transferred. But while I struggled with my mental health, I realized how important it is to put emotional wellness and self-care first. As a result, I redirected my attention to creating a balanced existence that includes both personal fulfillment and academic success.
My difficulties also affected how I interacted with other people. I developed greater empathy as I learned to recognize the masks people frequently don to hide their own struggles. I made an effort to be a sympathetic and understanding friend, providing a secure setting for them to express their worries.
My experience also made clear how important it is to surround yourself with sincere and sympathetic people. I cut ties with toxic people who were harming my health and instead to spend time with those who encouraged my own development. It has been transforming to view the world through the prism of mental health. I quickly realized how common mental health problems are among my peers and in society at large. I've been inspired by this discovery to pursue a profession in medicine or a profession in whcih I could physically and emotionally help others, with the goal of making a significant contribution to a society where mental health is valued and openly discussed.
In conclusion, my junior year as a high school transfer was a defining time in my life because of my experience with mental health. It altered my objectives by highlighting the value of both academic achievement and emotional health. I developed understanding and empathy, which improved my interactions with others.
Disney Super Fan Scholarship
I love Disney, and I recently had the pleasure of going to Disneyland California this year for the very first time. It was also my immigrant parents' first time as well! Experiencing Disney for the first time as a teen is an enchanting and exhilarating journey filled with wonder and magic. From the moment you step into the iconic theme parks, you are transported to a realm where dreams come true and imagination knows no bounds. The vibrant colors, infectious energy, and attention to detail in every corner leave an indelible impression, igniting a sense of childlike joy even in the hearts of adolescents.
For a teen, Disney represents the culmination of years of cherished memories from TV shows like Live and Maddy, Jessie, Wizards of Waverly Place, and Goodluck Charlie. Also included was the creation of beloved characters from classic animated films like The Little Mermaid, The Emperor's New Groove, and Hercules. As you walk through the park, you can't help but feel a connection to the stories that have been a part of your upbringing. Meeting your favorite Disney characters in person feels like meeting long-lost friends, and capturing those moments through photographs creates lasting mementos of a truly magical experience.
Attractions are what really made the experience magical for me. From the parades to the worth-the-wait fireworks, I felt as though not only my own inner childhood but also my parents' childhood were brought out to experience the wonders of Disney. The expressions on everyone's faces, whether young or old, were incredibly unforgettable and were truly what made the place feel magical. I am so grateful my parents took me to Disney for the first time! Beyond the attractions, Disney's attention to the guest experience is apparent in every aspect. The cheerful cast members, the meticulously themed lands, and the dazzling parades all contribute to an immersive and inclusive environment. As a teen, it's heartwarming to witness families coming together, sharing laughter, and creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
Moreover, Disney is not just about amusement parks; it's a symbol of inspiration and perseverance. The company's history is a testament to Walt Disney's determination to bring his dreams to life, and that spirit is evident in every aspect of the Disney brand. As a teen, visiting Disney instills the belief that dreams are worth pursuing and that anything is possible with dedication and imagination.
The testimony of hard work that Walt Disney showed to create the park reminds me of my parents. After the amazing day we had at Disneyland Park, my mom told me about the story of how, when she was in high school, a friend of hers went to Disneyland. This was almost unheard of, as they lived in a third-world country, which was the Philippines. My mom dreamt that one day she would be able to see the gleaming castle with her own eyes. When we went to Disney, I was grateful that not only did my mom get to see that shiny castle, but she got to see it with her kids, who were about her age when she made her wish. I truly think that that story is a testament to how magical Disney is and how it creates dreams for people who don't have the luxury of dreaming.
