My future goals include graduating college with an undergraduate degree in biology as my first step in achieving my long term goal of becoming a Board Certified Physician. I would like to pursue this career to assist the community in living longer and healthier lives by providing healthcare in rural and under-privileged areas. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in biology, I will attend medical school in pursuit of my Doctor’s of Medicine Degree. In medical school I will learn the basics of examining and interviewing patients. I will also learn patient care and how to treat the human body. After graduating medical school I will complete three to seven years of residency, specializing in Emergency Medicine. Upon finishing residency I will complete the required examination to become a Board Certified Physician. I will assist the community with living healthier and longer lives by providing routine check ups for my patients. I will enforce follow-up procedures, which include communicating with patients concerning ongoing care. Reference materials will be provided on healthy eating habits. I will communicate the importance of exercising and the positive impact it has on your body. This will assist patients in living healthy lifestyles. Having lived in a rural and disadvantaged area, I understand how difficult it can be to receive good health care. In my hometown of Natchez, MS the nearest hospital is 15 miles away from my home. I have experienced first hand the challenges of obtaining remarkable and affordable health care. It is also problematic to locate physicians who stay abreast of current medical practices such as continuous education on innovative treatments, medications, and regimens that will help the patient. Residents of rural areas are forced to drive two hours to receive good and reasonably priced health care. I plan to relocate into a rural area providing the underprivileged community with an authentic approach on health care. In experiencing the pandemic I’ve realized how brave medical personnel are. They willingly serve on the frontline fighting the coronavirus. Every day time is sacrificed away from they’re families to care for others, while exposing themselves to this deadly virus. The altruism and caring personality of physicians made me realize the importance of this career. After attending many of my grandfather's doctor visits and observing how his doctor interacted with him, it revealed the importance of valuing the patient's quality of life. Dr. Anderson always made sure my grandfather was comfortable and received the care needed to better his condition. This showed me that his number one concern was what was best for the patient. After being one of my grandfather’s major caregivers I learned that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. My grandfather has inspired me to pursue this career. In conclusion, I am excited to embrace this upcoming journey, through perseverance and determination I know that I can achieve my goals. I am committed to excelling in school and looking for opportunities, making my dream of becoming a board certified physician a reality.

My love for science stemmed from performing science fair projects in grade school. I enjoyed performing these experiments and putting what I learned on display for everyone to see. In elementary school, I won two science fairs. After then science became a hobby. In middle school, I attended a Robert Lewis Magnet School, which was a STEM-focused magnet school. During my three years at this school, I realized how much science and math balanced each other. The more I learned, the more I apprehended that I wanted to do something in this field. In high school, I attended Natchez Early College Academy. My high school sits on a Copiah Lincoln Community College campus. While attending, I've had the opportunity to take college science courses. By doing this, I was able to participate in many college labs. I performed many experiments that you wouldn't see done in a regular high school. In my upcoming future, I want to become a become board-certified physician. I will assist the community in living longer and healthier lives by providing healthcare in rural and underprivileged areas. I will do this by providing routine checkups for my patients. The woman that I admire most in my life is my aunt. I admire her because she always stays true to herself. She has impacted me in so many ways. As I grew up I watched her succeed in the army. The army only has 1 percent of women. Going up against these odds showed me that you can achieve anything you put your mind to. She was focused and didn't let anything stand in her way. My aunt always spoke her mind and didn't take disrespect from anyone. I will carry these life lessons into my career. I will always know that I am just as good as the opposite sex. Also always know that I can achieve anything I put my mind to.
