My name is Olivia Hogan, I am a senior in high school hoping to become a neonatal nurse practitioner in the future. This has been a big goal of mine for many years. In my free time, I like to play sports like field hockey, track, and tennis and I also like to participate in clubs, I am the secretary for my class, as well as the class leader for my class in key club. I am the VP of School based enterprise for DECA, as well as the treasurer of National Honor Society. I am also in student council, and global education. I also love to help out in my community through community service. I have done this by helping pick up trash with my school and volunteering at the buttonwood park zoo for boo at the zoo! I think I am a great candidate because I am hard working, love to learn, a great listener, want to use my skills to help people and love to help others.

Harry D Thomson Memorial Scholarship
I am applying for this scholarship as a first-generation college student. I am in a family of four. My mom, My brother has autism and is working hard at Cape Cod Community College, and a part time job. My sister is a freshman at UMASS Amherst for nursing and myself. My mom always makes time for us, encourages and supports us. A scholarship would really help take some of the burden off of her and it would allow me to achieve my dream of being a nurse. Throughout my life, I have had several medical issues that required care by multiple providers. My experience with medical professions, especially my primary care, led me to my goal of becoming a nurse. I have always wanted to be an advocate for others. I have always had a difficult time speaking up for myself. Over the last two years, I had to learn to find my voice. It can be traumatic, and I want to help during that difficult time. I specifically would like to continue my education to become a neonatal nurse practitioner. Being able to help babies and families in the NICU get the proper care they need is my ultimate goal. Not only would I be pursuing my future goals and endeavors, I would be helping others. Six years ago, my father left our family and moved out of the country. We lost our house, our car and I had to move out of the town I grew up in. My dad has not sent any child support or anything. My mom has worked three jobs to take care of us even while being sick. I would like to help take the financial burdens off her by finding scholarships so that I am able to get a nursing degree.
