Bio

Ever since I can remember, cars have always interested me. I loved seeing cars like Ferraris or Lamborghinis when I was younger and looking in the engine bays not understanding how it all worked but knew that I wanted to know how it did. During quarantine, I had a lot of extra time so I spent it by watching YouTube videos and educating myself about different types of engines, body styles and how people make stock engines faster. During my junior year of high school, I started a secondary school called EVIT and studied Automotive Technologies there and that same year I got a job at Discount Tire with the hope of working with people who share my same interest and being able to learn more that I didn’t know. Over the past two years at EVIT and my job I’ve learned so much, I went from not knowing how to change brakes to dropping engines and transmissions and replacing internal components properly and becoming an alignment technician at Discount Tire. I want to further my education with WyoTech because even though I feel like I’ve learned a lot, I know I’m just at the tip of the iceberg and there is so much more to learn and this school will help me get to my goal of wanting to know everything about the automotive field.

I will make a positive impact in my trade because of my willingness to help others by teaching and sharing my knowledge as well as assist those who do not have enough money to fix their cars. I already help my neighbors and friends with their car problems. I would love to open my own car shop and create a place of employment and safety. Thank you so much for considering me! Cars excites me. Fixing a problem excites me. Helping others with their problem excites me. I cannot wait to have my own shop and create a community, workplace and place of safety. Last month I made some flyers and went around my neighborhood to promote my skills and 70% off any car shop prices. And I already have some clients- older ladies, people with financial difficulties and those who can't afford to pay a full price for car repairs. I hired my best friend to help me and purchased my first tools. It truly makes me happy to see smiles on people's face when I fix their cars. I am planning to have a discounted services options for those who are facing financial difficulties, especial older people, veterans and single parents. Thank you for considering me for this generous scholarship. With gratitude, Oliver Stepien

Adversity...? I do have some experience with that. I was born in Los Angeles, Ca with a spina bifida/neurogenic tube defect and neurogenic bladder. I use catheter and enema and I’ve learned over the years how to live with it and not give up. I was bullied, made fun of and rejected many times. I was being called " a tube boy", "weirdo", " pee-pee kid". Yes, I did have an accident here and there, but those experiences helped me to build a resistance and resilience . I do not give up easy! I keep going. I don't want this condition to be my excuse. I want it to be my motivation. I go to two different schools, I work, I’m planning on going to college. I would like to become a mechanical engineer. I am dreaming big. I want to work for Porsche or BMW on designing engines. I am proud of some of my achievements but mostly on staying positive and happy. I appreciate your time and generosity. Sincerely, Oliver Stepien

My namer is Oliver Stepien and I'm a High school and tech school senior of 2025. It was so fascinating to me and inspire me sop much that right there at 13 I made a decision that I will be working in an automotive field- regardless of my medical disabilities and what others think of that. I practiced every single day without any brakes to master this skill. I want to further my education with WyoTech because even though I feel like I’ve learned a lot, I know I’m just at the tip of the iceberg and there is so much more to learn and this school will help me get to my goal of wanting to know everything about the automotive field. My dream is to be successful, happy and fulfilled. I am very passionate about cars, I fix my mom’s car, my friend’s car but I want to learn more. Also- to be a business owner-have my own car brand. Create and design new cars. I have a vision board in my room and I keep adding to it. And I know that with my determination, perseverance and passion, I will get there. My christian organization leader Johnny would recommend me for this scholarship and would say something like this" What has always been true about Oliver, for as long as I’ve known him, is his work ethic. He is a very hard worker, he isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and does a good job. He is able to keep and hold a job for years, not moving around like his peers. He works well with others and knows when to put his head down and get the job done. He works hard towards his passions and your program is something he is very passionate about. Oliver is a great kid with a big heart, he is a hard worker and very likable". Thank you so much for considering me for that scholarship. It would mean a world to me
