Bio

To be the best for me so I can be the best for others is a mindset I carry in every aspect of my life. To maintain an attitude of excellence, I will need to continue to equip myself with experiences that will welcome resilience. I am aware that the academic journey is not a tranquil one. However, I am determined to be a medical doctor. Moreover, the path to becoming a doctor requires diligence and humility, two traits that I aim to exemplify daily. As the Ada of the house (an Igbo term to describe the first daughter) being amidst loved ones is dearly important. Sharing community is a blessing everyone should be granted. I look forward to creating memories with friends and family. A healthy community pours into everyone within it. There are many aspects in which my foundation of thinking is brought up by and supported by the legacies of leaders I look up to. My serenity lies amongst not just pivotal life ventures, but ordeals that shape my character. Therefore building myself in my academics, mentality, and experiences will enable me to be the best for myself so that others receive the best of me.

The most recurring strife our world has to conquer among is relations. Whether it is world relations or navigating personal acquaintances between yourself and your neighbor, we humans never have the right formula. Many studies have proven how necessary human connection amongst one other is. Our neurotransmitters emit hormones reliant on scenarios that bring forth serotonin, oxytocin, and dopamine. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter were proven helpful when social distancing was a survival tactic. These digital platforms bridged that gap of human connection. There have been cases of multiply attacks on minority groups on the extreme end. Many would argue that these digital platforms have also appeased social anxiety. However, there has been a rise in crimes associated with social media. Many people have now lost touch with the communication skills needed to navigate real life. Moreover, mannerisms have become more discrete, and hospitality has become more discrete. The solution to building a stronger rapport with others starts with introspection. It is dire for everyone to find traits that amplify kindness which attribute to a good character. Reintegrating virtues such as humanity can shift the culture bit by bit. Our collective society has been overwhelmed by a pandemic, but we have also faced social issues like racism, homophobia, equitable economic distribution. These intense social issues deserve to hold discussion with nuance and patience. Furthermore, facing these social topics will require respect regardless of personal opinions. Disagreements are natural and do not always have to be amended but most importantly, treat others respectfully.

"Put yourself in a position where you can save your money rather than your money having to save you.", my older cousin told me with eyes filled with hope towards my dreams. She was happy that her little cousin had asked her why she had to go to work while in school. Now that college application season has arrived, my younger cousins will present me with their college questions. It soon became hard not to echo the same questions in my head when answering their question. "How much does each class cost?", "What do you pay to live to on campus?". As I responded to my cousins, their eyes grew with fear, knowing that working hard in school may not be enough for them, especially those who would be first-generation students in their immediate family. I wanted to share my older cousin's exact words with them, but I knew these words would more likely taunt my younger cousins rather than strengthen them. Regardless I told them, "aim to save money rather than rely on your money-saving you." I emphasized that using money to obtain a higher education requires patience and courage to ask for help. I congratulated them for asking me questions regarding college life. Since college is just at the corner of my academic journey, I will continue to take my cousin's advice to heart. This advice will help in the future, but I already see results from having a mindset that pushes me to be money conscious.
