Bio

Currently, my goal is to be the first in my family to graduate high school and go to college. I am from a big family and going to a two-year college would be ideal. In the future, I want to become a pediatric or registered nurse. I am a very driven student and I work very hard to achieve my goals. I enjoy community service, to me, it feels very rewarding to give back. Currently, I am in a program that enables me to earn college and high school credits at the same time. Being in this program has taught me motivation and determination to continue my journey in gaining a higher education.

    Pettable Pet Lovers Scholarship
Hello to whoever is reading this, the photos below are of my pet Bean and her favorite activities. During summer she loves to play outside with the water hose and go for long walks in the forest trails. While she is an active girl, she also enjoys taking long naps on her couch or on her bed since she is getting older. As you can see she is very photogenic and has a very chill but protective personality. I love her a lot and I am happy to share some things about my pet with you.
First-Gen in Health & Medicine Scholarship
Being a first-generation student has impacted my journey to healthcare a lot. Since my parents barely went to college or finished high school, they pushed me to go further than them in my education. They used their personal hardships they went through to show me what my life would end up like if I headed down the same road. It was a hard life and even though we were happy, my family was only surviving and not living. Our lives before made me realize and ask myself "What am I going to do with my life?" I thought to myself, why not become a nurse in the hospital? Becoming a nurse was not the first thing I considered, and there were many things I thought I wanted to do that is not related to healthcare. I realized my potential for nursing when I took a step back and looked at what I enjoy and what I am good at. Growing up I went to schools that were very poor and I always wanted to know more about health. It fed my curiosity and the feeling of wanting to know more. Being the oldest child and coming from a big family was a factor that influenced me to want to become a nurse. More specifically a registered nurse or a pediatric nurse. There were many babies in the family while I was growing up and being around them fed a growing passion that made me want to take care of them. I personally enjoy taking care of others, it makes me feel accomplished and fulfilled. I acknowledge the fact that I am just an average student but to my family, I am above and beyond the expectations they had of me. Being a first-generation student has made me feel like I am doing this for myself and for my family as well. I do not have the luxury of a family that can easily afford my journey to a career in healthcare. Financially we are at a disadvantage and that is a challenge I will not let stop me. It was something that has almost prevented me from pursuing my dreams. I was fearful of the consequences it would have on my family and they ensured me not to worry about it. This scholarship would help ease the financial worries my family and I have while I pursue a career in healthcare. It would also help me achieve my dreams and goals I have come to realize.
