Andrew Perez Mental Illness/Suicidal Awareness Education Scholarship
I have personally been affected by mental illness for a long period of my life. Feelings of anxiety had overwhelmed me every time the sun shines. Growing up with social anxiety, life was not easy for me, in fact, life was very difficult and sometimes overwhelmingly challenging for me. I was bullied for not being as socially capable as my peers, and I was judged by most of my teachers as well. My social anxiety was not severe, but it was still there, and it was an obstacle for me. Life was a daily struggle for me especially at high school because I had to speak a lot in class and I was assigned to give speeches in class quite often, yet I never let go of my hopes and dreams in life because I know for a fact that my dreams and ambitions in life are far greater than my anxiety.
I struggled with almost everything in life. I struggled and faced immense hardships making friendships because of my social phobia. I struggled with bullying and had to defend my dignity every day and stand up for myself and I struggled with being shamed by some of my teachers in school due to not being as socially capable as my peers. Many people did not understand my feelings of overwhelming anxiety in situations which are seen very normal for most people. What most people could do with minimal effort took me immense efforts to do. The bigger issue was not only my feelings of overwhelming anxiety, but it was most people not understanding that what I had was a mental illness. I was called " shy " , " naive " or an " introvert " by most of my teachers, but the fact of the matter was that what I had and still experience ( but far less now ) was a mental illness and it was something beyond my ability to control
I had my family on my side, and they always showed me extraordinary physical and emotional support, but they never were able to fully understand the situation I was going through because I was physically " normal ", and they could not see that inside me was a mental health condition. That was my biggest struggle, but the more I struggled in life, the more hopeful I was that at the end of each tunnel there is light. I had hope for a better future and worked harder than I have ever worked before to secure a better future for myself. I stayed up all night long studying to keep with my studies because my days were wasted with overwhelmingly bad thoughts about what happened with me during the day. There were many nights where I was totally sleepless, yet I woke up the next morning eager to defend myself. Even though life was a struggle for me back then, I knew so well that my hard work, persistence, and dedication will pay off sooner or later, which it did.
I have countless goals and aspirations in life. Some of my goals in life include getting a bachelor's degree in healthcare management and using that degree to make people's lives better . I plan to ease the pain of people with mental illnesses as well. I will do what it takes to make an impact in my society, and to make my name engraved in hearts of people in need, I want to change the dullness to brilliance, and doing so would be no easy task, but it would be worth it.
Shine Your Light College Scholarship
Mental health issues are skyrocketing in our country and our world. An estimated 26% of Americans ages 18 and older suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder, and many people suffer from more than one mental disorder at a given time. That is very alarming and dangerous. 1 in 4 adult Americans suffer from mental illnesses which is affecting the whole country in a negative way. Unfortunately, most people with mental health issues are shamed by society which deprives them from seeking help. My career in healthcare management will help me provide efficient and effective healthcare to people suffering from mental health issues. As a 19-year-old full-time college student, there is not much I can do to help people with mental health issues besides raising awareness and participating in campaigns to help ease the pain of people with mental health issues, but that is just the beginning of a very long journey that I plan to take to help people with mental health issues.
There are many steps that I plan to take in my future career to help people with mental health issues. The first step is to provide free treatment for all people suffering from mental health issues. The financial situation of many people with mental health issues is a barrier for them to seek help, especially when taking into consideration the fact that the costs for mental health treatment is skyrocketing lately. When I finally reach my dream to become a healthcare manager, I would ensure to dedicate an annual budget to fund free treatment for everyone who wants to get treated for a mental health condition.
The second step I would take is to make mental healthcare more accessible to more people in this world by raising awareness as a healthcare manager to influence more healthcare managers around the globe to do the same. I always strive to lead by example as actions are far louder than words and words often do not make any sense if no actions are taken to backup these words. Raising awareness is the greatest tool ever that one can use to make a change and it costs nothing to raise awareness.
The third step I would take is to hire the best mental health specialists and psychiatrists in my clinic or hospital, as that would ensure that people with mental health issues are actually getting the help they deserve to get, not just getting along with some help that might not be sufficient or enough. I would hire the most experienced physicians and psychiatrists and I would pay them competitive wages to encourage them to stay in my hospital and to encourage more highly talented and highly experienced physicians to work in my hospital. I would also provide them benefits like they have never seen before.
The fourth step I would take is to provide motivation, inspiration, and hope for people with mental health issues. Motivation is one of the greatest aspects that could fuel someone to accomplish what might seem impossible or too arduous to achieve. I would personally be there for anyone with mental health issues who needs my help and support.
I would make sure that these four steps are done to contribute to a better tomorrow for people with mental health issues in the United States and in the rest of the world as well. I know that my path will not be easy, but it is far easier than watching people with mental health issues suffering daily without contributing to helping them and changing their lives to the better.
You Glow Differently When You're Happy Scholarship
One of my happiest memories in life is when I slept over in my cousin’s house. It was one of the most joyful and happy memories in my entire life because we did not sleep all night long talking and laughing. We also ate very delicious food and watched 5 movies in one night. We were young and we were a total of 12 people in one house ( all my cousins were there ). Now, as I live thousands of miles away from my cousins, I remember this incredible memory with tears of missing and sadness.

When you face an obstacle in life, there are only two options : give up ( the easy option ) or strive to overcome that obstacle ( the harder option ), there is no third or fourth option. Unfortunately, many people choose the easy option, but that does not apply for me. I have faced many obstacles in life. One of those obstacles is bullying. Throughout my entire middle school and some of my high school years, I was bullied by a few underachieving students because I was a high achiever and because I had a strong moral voice. I had to wake up every day, prepare to defend my dignity and stand up for myself firmly and I had to keep up with my grades, so they do not fall below " A ". It all started when I was in 6th grade, and I saw someone getting bullied in class. As I approached the bullies telling them to stop what they were doing, I became targeted by them as well. For the entire 6th grade, I was bullied. Fortunately, I bonded with the bullied student, and we became a strong unit.
In 7th grade, I was bullied for completely different reasons and by completely different people. I was bullied consistently until 12th grade, yet I never gave up and I continued to strive against my bullies in every way I can. It was very challenging for me to deal with bullies during school because that deprived me from being able to focus. I struggled daily with attention, but I could not let my grades slip. I stayed up all night long studying to keep up with my lessons, and with very little sleep, I had to deal with my bullies. I did not use any violence against them, I only stood for myself even though they strived in every possible way to engage me in violence, I did not let that happen. I had wisdom and courage in dealing with my bullies, and that led me to overcome that obstacle slowly but surely. There were many days that I had mental breakdowns, but before I even though about giving up, I reminded myself of the values I constantly strive for in life. I reminded myself that if I were to let go of my values in life, I would lose my values forever.
Bullying finally stopped when I reached 12th grade. I was very glad that I was no longer bullied in 12th grade, but I took a bigger decision, which is to help other students who are victims of bullying. I mentored students who were bullied at school. My decision to become a mentor was fueled by my own experience of bullying. Even though bullying is a very negative experience, and might even be a horrible experience, that experience was a plus for me when I became a mentor as I was able to feel the pain and misery of the bullied students who were passing through similar experiences as mine. I wanted to become their hope and inspirational figure in their dull life. I could not take back the wasted years of my life, but I know for a fact that I could inspire people.
I promised myself that I will help victims of bullying until the rest of my life. Mentoring victims of bullying at high school is just the beginning of a very long journey to influence and make a change , and all that is possible because of one good choice I made back in the day which is to never give up.
Sloane Stephens Doc & Glo Scholarship
I grew up being a moral person, I was even bullied because of that, yet I never gave up on being a moral and ethical person. Morality might mean different things to different people, but there are common morals that most people agree on regardless of their nationality, ethnicity, or national origin. The most valuable quality in myself is that I have a strong moral voice, fighting what is wrong and defending what is right even if most people did not agree with me. Throughout my entire middle school and some years of my high school, I was bullied and one of the reasons is because I had a powerful moral voice that some people did not like, so they used that against me to bully me and make fun of the values I strive for. It all started when I was in 6th grade, and I saw one of my classmates being made fun of because he had a speech problem. There were three bullies who used to bully him every day, making fun of his voice and his speech issues and they used to call him names. At first, I was hesitant to interfere or not as I knew that if I did, I would be targeted by the bullies as well, which scared me off at first.
Then, I questioned myself about the right thing to do, and my strong inner moral voice was telling me to interfere in the situation and to stand up for the bullied boy even though I knew for a fact that I am risking being targeted by the bullies. So, the next morning, I approached the bullies telling them to stop what they are doing immediately, and I lectured them about moral values and how their actions are against moral and ethical values. They looked at me furiously telling me that it was none of my business and they even threatened me with physical violence if I were to stand up for that bullied boy again. Fortunately, I was not shocked nor terrified because I knew that bullies would not be pleasant to interact with, so I insisted on defending that bullied kid until I turned into a target for bullying as well by these bullies. Luckily, I was able to bond with that bullied boy and we became a strong unit. We had to face bullying every day, but we responded firmly, and we defended our dignity fearlessly and daringly. The bullies were far more aggressive after I joined the victim because they feared being outnumbered eventually if more people joined us.
I was bullied until 11th grade from different people, but the reasons are similar such as : My strong moral voice and being a high achiever. When I began the journey of courageousness back in 6th grade, I had the option of simply not interfering at all, I would have had a peaceful life ( at least for 6th grade ), but my moral values would not let me pass by without doing action, when oppression is happening, actions shall be taken, and that is one of the moral values I constantly reminded myself of. I am proud to have a strong moral voice because that will ensure that I will always strive to fight against bad things in life, that will also mean that I will do everything I can to fight oppression even though that might affect my own peace.
Lastly, I have volunteered in many different organizations, helping those in need with food and other necessities.
Community Service is Key Scholarship
I grew up giving to those around me. I volunteered in several organizations such as my high school, North Texas Food Bank, my college, my place of worship, and many other different organizations. As I used to spread the message of helping others and volunteering to people in public campaigns, there were many people who approached me telling me " If there is no benefit for us, we are not going to benefit other people ", which left me speechless and heartbroken. I always try to lead by example and show people that community service is an ultimate reason for pleasure and happiness. There were many reasons that fueled my eagerness for community service. The most important reason is helping people and changing people's lives from brightness to darkness, but another important reason that fueled for my eagerness to volunteer is that my heart jumps of joy and infinite happiness as I see the smile on a kid's face who was begging his mother for some food to keep him alive.
One of the life changing moments happened while I was volunteering at East Plano Islamic Center. Most of the people we were serving were non-Muslims. We had to pack bags of food in trunks of people in need. I was holding a bag full of food that had cookies in it as well to put it in one of the car's trunks. As I approached the car's trunk to put the bag, one of the four kids in the car ran out of the car and approached me bursting in tears of joy telling me " I have been dreaming of those cookies for so long, I cannot believe that the whole bag of cookies will now be mine ! ". I laughed and told him " Yours of course, my hero, but do not forget to share it with your lovely siblings as well ", and I rushed to get one more of the cookie bags just for him. It was a sad yet happy moment at once. I had no idea whether to be happy or to burst into tears, because what that kid told me shows how people in need appreciate things we find too simple and too basic to even talk about.
Volunteering at North Texas Food Bank was an extraordinary experience for me as well. I helped pack boxes of food to people in need. I was assigned to lead a group of 5 volunteers and our group helped pack onions and potatoes for people in need, but there was all kinds of fruits and vegetables being packed to those in need. The impact we made was tremendous; it was so great that our manager who led us all told us that we packed nearly 6,000 meals for 2,000 families that will last 1-2 weeks just in less than 2 hours of volunteering. That made me shake my head not knowing if I was deaf or not. I could not believe that community service can be so impactful and so blessed.
Volunteering at Dallas College ( Richland Campus ) was a great opportunity as well. We planted many trees in the famous annual arbor day held yearly in Texas called " Texas Arbor Day ". That was one of the most enjoyable community service events for me.
I completed more than more than 40 hours of volunteering overall and the biggest take away is acknowledging how blessed I am to have what I have.
Paige's Promise Scholarship
I am a 19-year-old full time college student who is planning to transfer to a 4-year University next year to pursue a bachelor's degree in healthcare management. I am very aware of substance abuse as my own uncle has suffered from it. Substance abuse is a terrifying term which not many people acknowledge its harm, or some do when it is too late. Healthcare management is a great field for helping people affected by substance abuse as substance use disorder is a part of healthcare as well. After I heard the heartbreaking story of how my uncle have gone from being the most talented, smartest, healthiest, and wisest one in his family to a victim of substance use, I decided that I want to dedicate part of my education for helping victims of substance use disorder for the rest of my life. It was an extremely firm decision that I promised myself to never let go of. Part of my plan to pursue healthcare management comes from the need to reaffirm to the whole country and world as much as I can that there is hope for those affected by substance use disorder.
I plan to make special treatments and have a section in the hospital/clinic I work in for substance use disorder victims/patients. I also plan to hire substance abuse specialists in my hospital to ensure that substance abuse victims are receiving the most effective and efficient treatments. Unfortunately, most hospitals in the country do not have substance use specialists and there is a massive shortage in substance use specialists which is making the issue far worse than it should be. I plan to work personally with victims of substance abuse and offer them help to the best of my ability. I also plan to donate money and/or directly fund substance abuse specialists and young people planning to pursue that field, and by doing so, I would ensure to inspire high-school and college students to pursue that field. I would strive to make substance disorder treatment more accessible, because that is the biggest issue that is keeping substance abuse victims from seeking help.
Shaming substance abuse victims and threatening them with arrest is a terrible mistake that many people do. There is no need to shame someone who is suffering, and there is no need to issue arrest warrants against substance abuse victims, these people need rehabilitation not deterioration. Through my career, I would ensure that victims of substance abuse are treated for free because someone suffering from a life-threatening condition and is suffering from depression should not have to worry about the skyrocketing costs of treatment as well. Another thing that keeps substance abuse victims from seeking help is the skyrocketing costs of treatment. I would make sure to fund the treatment for substance abuse victims either directly from the budget of my hospital or from my own budget. In that way, I would ensure that victims of substance abuse do not have to face a more challenging barrier, which is lack of funds.
Education is also a crucial step in helping victims of substance abuse recover. I would raise awareness as much as I can as a healthcare administrator to educate the public about the horrific and terrifying outcomes of substance abuse as I have always done. Back in high school, I participated in several campaigns to fight substance abuse by educating the young generation because education is the fundamental and most important aspect to contribute to a better tomorrow and to bring this issue slowly but surely to an end.
Grow Your Own Produce Sustainability Scholarship
Growing my own produce has taught me passion, patience, hard working, and resilience. It was not easy at all for me to grow my first produce as I had no prior experience at all. I have learned to grow produce by my grandfather. My great grandfather was a very talented grower, he used to grow produce every day and he grew all kinds and varaities of grows. My grandfather has learned a lot from him. Born in Syria, my great grandfather was the most healthiest person anybody can think of. In his country back then, there were very few restuarants and no fast food chains whatsoever, the whole idea began when my great grandfather grew his first produce hoping to be self relaint especially because he had very little access to food as he lived in a small rural area in Damascus. My great grandather eventually grew produce for a living, taught my grandfather to do the same, my grandfather taught my father, and my father taught me, yet my grandather has more experience in growing produce than my father so I was directly taught by my grandfather to grow produce.
At first, I had panic attacks as I was terrified I might mess everything up, but then I remembered that my great grandfather had no idea about what he was doing, yet he was so successful in growing produce that he made it for a living. It took me a whole month to learn to grow my first produce in the garden of my family's house, and I was prouder than ever of myself after I have successfully grew my first produce. After 2 months, growing produce became my hobby. It felt so satisfying that I was able to eat from what my own hands have planted and grew. As my past experiences in life, I knew for a fact that it takes failure to achieve success. During the first month I was learning to grow produce, I have failed to grow produce successfully over 10 times, and I had very low self esteem during that month as all these continous failures made me close to doubting my ability to succeed in growing produce.
Slowly but surely I was able to achieve success in growing produce. As I grew my first produce after a month of learning and failing, I burst into tears of joy and happiness. I informed everyone I knew about my first success in growing my first produce. That was a life changing point in my life which changed my whole perspective of view on growing produce. From that point onwards, I strived to grow produce and I was even to make some cash out of that. 8 years after growing my first produce, I am very proud of all my accomplishments as I have grew hundreds of produce by my own. I currently no longer grow produce as we moved houses, but I plan to grow produce again in our new home.
As always, I could not keep this talent just for myself, so I helped people in my neighborhood and community do the same. There was a neighbor that was a family friend who sought our help to grow produce. I willingly and happliy rushed to help our neighbor grow produce. I sacrificed hours of my time every day for two weeks teaching him how to grow produce step by step until he became an expert. After I have taught him to grow produce, he looked at me and told me " I am forever grateful for your extraordinary help young man ",
Bold Wise Words Scholarship
Wisdom is a term that many people these days are not aware of. Wars, destruction, and conflicts around the world are the biggest indication that wisdom is vanishing from our world today. It is not surprising to see all these wars in a world that wisdom is constantly declining in. My father once told me when I used to get bullied at school " Look son, the first time you get physically attacked by a bully, forgive him, the next time he does the same thing, break his face " I do believe that this is the wisest thing my father ever told me. Some people might freak out after reading this sentence and think my father taught me violence, but the fact of the matter is that my father taught me the most peaceful statement ever.
Infinite wisdom behind this statement comes from the forgiveness. Forgiveness is the greatest aspect that leads to peace and happiness. If someone did something bad to you, do not do something worse to them ( there is no need for revenge ), just forgive that person and let it go. Forgiveness provides a person with peace of mind and prevents further wars and conflicts in a world already suffering from countless wars and conflicts, but as the sentence continues, if your dignity was ripped off twice, never forgive the second time, you shall take care of your dignity as well. I apply this statement in every aspect in my life. I always forgive people if they did something they were not supposed to do to me, but if the same thing happened twice, I act in accordance with what they did.
I am more grateful and thankful than ever to that very statement because it has taught me forgiveness and self-defense at once.
Bold Generosity Matters Scholarship
Generosity is constantly declining in our world to a point where people do not even think about each other's problems anymore, selfishness is skyrocketing in our world, and that is not a good indication of a better future at all. I grew up being very generous, that is what defines and shapes me since I was young. As I volunteered in many different organizations, that has taught me selflessness and generosity. After the pandemic hit, people around the world acknowledged the pain and suffering of others, which made more people become selfless. In America, more than two thirds of the population say they are more selfless than ever after the pandemic hit. Most people before the pandemic were selfish in America and in any other country in the world, and that is an undeniable fact.
I always give people everything I can not only to make them happy, but because I only feel happy if people around me were happy. People are struggling to find the purpose of life, and I always try to spread that the message of life is to give. Whether you believe in God or not, whether you are religious or not, generosity is a fundamental thing that every human shall have. It is heartbreaking when I tell people to be generous especially to those in need as I spread my strong moral voice everywhere I can, and they reply with " It is not my problem " I do not understand how someone can be that evil. If you do not think about people around you, if your community, city, state, or even country faced a major crisis and you were affected, do not be surprised when everybody turns you down because you turned everybody down when there was no crisis.
Deborah's Grace Scholarship
Looking back at my school diary, as I read the word " bullying ", my eyes water the pages of the diary as I flip through its endless pages. I struggled with bullying throughout my entire middle school and high school years. I had to stand up for myself and defend my dignity every single day, along with having to keep up with my grades so they do not fall. Life was not easy for me at all back then. There were days where I had very low self-esteem and thoughts of giving up were chasing me 24/7, yet I never gave up. I knew for a fact that my extraordinary goals in life that I am constantly striving for are not easy to give up on and they shall not go down the drain. I worked very hard to keep up my high grades and to keep up with everything else in my life. Many of my teachers were shocked of my consistency in getting high grades and being a high achiever even though I was passing through difficult times fighting my bullies and defending my dignity every day. My bullies were a bunch of underachieving students who constantly failed in their studies.
One of the fundamental beliefs that I had engraved in my heart and mind is the belief that at the end of every tunnel there is light and brightness. My life was pitch black back then, there was very little light, yet I could see the light at the end of the tunnel which I knew was inevitable. From that point onwards, I worked very hard with persistence towards my goals in life, and I had consistency as my motto in life as hard work by itself is not enough to achieve success without consistency and persistence. I constantly strived to keep myself on the right path even though doing so required me to stay sleepless sometimes.
There were many days where thoughts of what happened during the day were preventing me from focusing on my studies, so I had to stay up all night studying to keep with my hectic schedule at school. During these times, it was more difficult than ever for me to stay motivated because there was a new obstacle in my way now which is " lack of sleep ". That barrier was one of the most challenging barriers in my life as it lasted for nearly a month, and I had to get some sleep during the evenings so I can focus on studying at night, or particularly, after midnight which was when I got some peace of mind, because I am more focused at night as my days were wasted with the overwhelming thoughts of the bad experiences that happened during the day.
I was able to overcome all these hardships by resilience, persistence, hard work, and consistency. I learned that life can be extremely challenging and demanding at some points, but the effort and resilience you show during these times are what determine your success or failure for the rest of your life. I am extremely grateful that my parents and loved ones reminded me every day that showing resilience during the difficult times in life makes life far better and easier later. If I were to just give up on life simply because I passed through hard times, I would have become a failure right now.
My resilience will help me in the future by removing many obstacles from my way and making me strong, and the stronger you get, the more success you achieve.
Scholarship Institute Future Leaders Scholarship
Leadership is the most important aspect of success. There could be the most talented, smart, hardworking, and experienced people working in a company or an organization, yet with a bad leader, the company/organization will certainly fail. Growing up with social phobia, despite the fact of the matter that I had extraordinary skills in leadership, it was very challenging and effortful for me to become a leader. I truly believe in leading by example as I have always demonstrated my strong and firm leadership skills by leading by example as actions are far louder than words, and words often make zero sense if it was not for the actions that follow the words.
I have demonstrated my first leadership skill in high school when I led a group of 5 students in one of the biggest cleanup events at school. I was trembling and terrified when my school principal chose me specifically to lead a group of 5 students in a major cleanup event at school. At first, I had no clue about what to do or even how to respond to the principal's offer, yet I accepted her offer and I have successfully led my team and we accomplished a great job. From that point onwards, I constantly strive to take leadership roles at the organizations where I volunteer, at college, and even at the job I recently started working in just 2 weeks ago.
Taking my first leadership role was no easy task. The night before my first leadership role back when I was 17 years old, I burst into tears, and I had a panic attack out of the fear that I might fail. It was the first night of my life where I was sleepless, not even for a quarter of a second did I sleep. Even though it was quite a simple and straightforward leading task which only involved leading 5 people, it felt like it was the most arduous task in the world for me at first only to realize that it was a walk in the park after the task was completed.
So far, I have successfully led 6 times and I am very proud to say that I have gone above and beyond and impressed everyone in every single leading task I was given. By persistence, I was able to accomplish what I have dreamt for so long, but the journey is not over yet. I am very eager and constantly striving to lead. I am looking for new opportunities to lead even bigger groups.
A leader must have the passion to lead. There was a powerful inner voice in my head constantly telling me that my weaknesses such as my social phobia and being an introvert are not stronger than my passion to lead. From that point onwards, I took that to heart and acted upon it. There were people who did not like me being a leader and even backbit me, yet I never gave up .
Robert Lee, Sr. and Bernice Williams Memorial Scholarship
Affording costs of education is not easy and is one of the most challenging and difficult tasks any student can have. As the pandemic hit, my mother lost her job, and my father was the only person in our family responsible for paying off our expenses and bills, which is very overwhelming for my father. I currently have no job as my hectic schedule at college is preventing me from having a job, yet I do plan to balance work and school as I start the next semester in college hoping to help my dad pay off some of my bills. Even though educational fees are skyrocketing, and it is becoming harder than ever to afford education these days, I never thought about giving up on my education because I know for a fact that my dreams require me to pursue education, and I am willing to work hard and bear the financial difficulties now, hoping that one day my financial difficulties would ease and would turn into financial freedom.
Helping others is my motto in life, it is my purpose, it is my everything. My favorite way to help others is by volunteering because I believe that volunteering is the best way to give back your community. When I tell my peers at college that my happiness comes through volunteering, they look at me as if I were an alien, because they think that volunteering is just something you got to do to put some extra hours on your application or resume. I see volunteering as the smile on a kid's face who lives in misery, as the joy of a family who was dipping bread with sugar when they have the desire to eat dessert or taste something sweet. When people around me are happy, that fuels my happiness and my motivation.
I was able to overcome adversity by working hard and focusing on my dreams and goals in life. Whenever I feel too demotivated to move forward, I remember my purpose and goals in life, and without blinking my eye twice, I strive to try my best to make my dreams come true. I plan on giving back to my community in the future through the healthcare management field.
I plan to strive in the healthcare management field as I want to help as many people as I can. I have always had ethical concerns about the healthcare system in hospitals and clinics in the country. I believe that patients are not receiving the most efficient treatment and are not offered the most affordable prices due to the greediness of healthcare administrators.
When I look at my future vision in the healthcare management field, I always feel that my dream is too far from reality, but then I remember that everything seems impossible until it is done, all you got to do is strive and work hard to make your dreams come true. I plan to have a positive impact on the healthcare system of the whole nation, I plan to make healthcare accessible to as many people as I can, I plan to provide the best and most affordable treatment where I work, I plan to fight corruption and expose corrupt people that take advantage of people's health and use it for their own profit. I plan to eliminate racism and discrimination in healthcare, I plan to make people's lives better. I am strongly driven and highly encouraged to achieve my dreams because I believe in what I am striving for, and all it takes is to believe in yourself and to do the work.
Bold Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
Rates of mental health issues are skyrocketing in the United States and in many other countries in the world. Mental health is a massive issue, and it is a critical threat to one's life if no action is taken. It is not surprising that many people with mental health issues are taking their own lives because they feel too hopeless and demoralized. Unfortunately, many people struggling with mental illnesses are shamed and turned down by society, which makes it harder than ever for people struggling with mental health to express themselves, which in turn is leading to the increase of suicide rates among people struggling with mental health.
One practical solution to help people struggling with mental health is to offer free treatment to everyone suffering from mental health issues and to make it accessible everywhere. Another issue that prevents people with mental health issues from getting treatment is the skyrocketing and unbearable costs of treatment that most people struggling with mental health issues might not afford treatment, and psychiatric hospitals and psychiatrists might not always be accessible, which is making it more difficult for people struggling with mental health issues to seek treatment because there is a shortage in the number of psychiatric hospitals and psychiatrists in the country. It is heartbreaking and disappointing to know the fact that 60 % of U.S. counties have no practicing psychiatrists, which means that more than half counties in this country have no practicing psychiatrists, which means lack of access to mental healthcare.
There should be more psychiatrists in the country and that can only be done by offering full support to psychiatrists and psychiatric hospitals across the country. The government should ensure that every American citizen has access to psychiatric hospitals.
Carlynn's Comic Scholarship
Naruto Uzumaki has greatly influenced me. He has extraordinary power which is mind blowing and amazing. Naruto also shows the whole world that hard work and persistence are the key factors of success and that nobody shall doubt his/her success as Naruto was able to accomplish miraculous and marvelous things by believing in himself and by not doubting his ability to achieve what most people in the world today assume as " impossible ". Naruto began one step at a time. It all began when Naruto joined Team Kakashi and worked as hard as he could to gain the village's acknowledgement, and that all happened while Naruto was chasing his dreams.
It took Naruto years to become a capable ninja, regarded as a hero both by the villagers, and soon after , the rest of the world. That shows that Naruto was indeed a true hero.
I Am Third Scholarship
Living a life without goals is like a person wandering through an aimless path, that person would never reach his/her destination in life because an aimless path will lead to nowhere, and a person living a life with no goals would end up nowhere because life without goals is an aimless life. I plan to strive in my education to eventually get a bachelor's degree in healthcare management, and once I get a bachelor's degree in healthcare management, I plan to help as many people as I can with my degree. It is beyond heartbreaking to see people dying every year in our world from lack of access to healthcare or from bad management in hospitals and clinics. I will focus particularly on benefiting the healthcare system in the United States, but I will also dedicate my efforts to help some countries in the world who are in total misery and affliction.
My goals in education are directly related to my goals in life. Helping those in need is my motto in life since I was young as I have always strived to volunteer and be the hope to those who lost hope. Regarding my education, I strive to always get A's, yet I do not give up if I got a B. At high school, I have failed and picked myself up countless times, yet I never gave up because I knew for a fact that I had a plan in my head, and I worked hard towards that goal. As I got into college, my grades got better as I was even more serious and highly dedicated to pursuing my education and strive to get A's even though I knew it was going to be an arduous path.
I have always had ethical concerns about the healthcare system in this country and in the whole world. Patients are not receiving the most efficient treatment and are overcharged, and I want that to end. Unfortunately, corruption is out there in our hospitals and clinics, and that fact is indisputable. Patients are being taken advantage of and are often seen as cash cows rather than humans who need treatment as sadly many hospitals across the country prioritize their profits over their patients, which makes me strive wanting to spread morality across the healthcare field. It is very important to prioritize patients over profits, and that is one of my plans and dreams that I strive and work hard to accomplish.
One of my big goals as well is to make a budget called " emergency funds " if I were to become a healthcare administrator, and the whole purpose of that budget is to fund patients immediately who are in crisis and their own lives are at risk due to their lack of funds. These funds could be like a loan given to the patients, and patients can pay back their loans within a long period of time, that would at least save people's lives and the hospital or clinic would not lose any money, hoping that more hospitals and clinics across the country or the world adapt my strategic plan.
My goals in life can seem too far to reach or accomplish, yet, I have a statement engraved in my heart and mind which I wake up repeating as the sun shines every morning " One day I will become successful not immediately but definitely " My goals will not be accomplished overnight, but they shall be accomplished sooner or later, and by taking that statement to heart, I work hard to pursue my dreams.
Bold Art Matters Scholarship
My favorite piece of art is " The Creation of Adam " because it shows the fundamental belief that Muslims, Christians, and Jews share. In this painting, it shows God giving life to Adam, which is believed to be the first man on earth. Despite the differences that Muslims, Christians, and Jews share, they can all agree that this amazingly beautiful painting makes sense. What I admire about this piece of art is that it was drawn wonderfully, and its colors are tremendously bright and shining. This piece of art gives a very high sense of spirituality because it shows that mankind today is from God, which also might give mankind some sense of direction to the logic behind the creation of mankind and the purpose of life.
What I also admire about this piece of art is that one drawing is sufficient to answer countless questions that anyone might think of. It gives guidance to those who are trying to see the world from a spiritual point of view. I do not look at this piece of art from a religious perspective, but I look at it from a spiritual point of view. What is very interesting about this piece of art is that it was painted onto the ceiling of a chapel, as this painting is found on the ceiling of the Sistine in the Vatican, which is a mind-blowing fact because it took maximal efforts to complete this painting, yet it only took Michelangelo two to three weeks to complete, which is a fairly short time to complete such a spectacular piece of art.
This piece of art is considered one of the most miraculous pieces of arts in the European history as the creation of Adam was the first drawing from its kind back then.
Bold Future of Education Scholarship
Education is the most fundamental thing in this world for a world without education is like a body without a heart. In the United States, millions of students are drowning in student debt to the point where they feel that education is their worst nightmare when it should be their best and most inspiring dream. The United States is one of the wealthiest nations in the world, yet its students are facing hardships and difficulties in affording their educational expenses, and that has got to change. The United States had spent trillions of dollars on war, yet the budget for education is not even close to that number, which is alarming. We live in a world today where wars cost the world countless trillions of dollars every year, yet there are near a billion illiterate people in the world, which is heartbreaking.
I do firmly believe that countries around the world should have far higher budgets for education. Instead of student loans, education should be free, meaning that the government of each country pays for education. In a wealthy country like the United States, having free education is not an impossible task. Education should be free because it is a fundamental right, and that should apply for all education including master’s degree or doctorate's degree. A student or a non- student planning to pursue a degree should only worry about the hard work it takes to complete that degree and not about the skyrocketing expenses that come with pursuing that degree as well. Most undergraduate students in the United States have a part-time or a full-time job besides going to school. In turn, that will only lead to skyrocketing rates of anxiety, consternation, and uneasiness among students. The college dropout rate in the United States for undergraduate students is 40%. That is ridiculous as almost half of all college students in the United States drop out. Financial issues are the number one reason of dropping out. Offering all students free education will reduce the dropout rates among college students by far.
Even though most people do not pay attention to the relativeness between the skyrocketing rates of dropping out and the overwhelming financial issues, I do firmly believe that when the government is willing to offer full financial assistance to all students by making education free, more students would be able to pursue their education peacefully without overwhelming themselves with intense thoughts of not being able to pay off their educational bills. The tuition rates across the country are skyrocketing which is making more students lose hope before even having the chance to enroll in formal education. It makes me more terrified than ever as I see the dropout rates increase so rapidly especially after Covid-19. As people lost their jobs, and therefore faced even more challenging financial difficulties, it became arduous for parents to help their kids pay off their educational bills or even the students affording to pay the educational bills by their own, and that must change.
Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
I grew up struggling with bullying at school. My mental health was not great back then. I was not severely depressed to the point where I thought of taking my own life, but I certainly did struggle with mental health. I was bullied by a few tough and underachieving students at school. I had to wake up every day, prepare myself to be physically and mentally ready to stand up firmly to defend my dignity. It was extremely challenging for me to focus on my education and strive to get A's when I had to dedicate so much time and so much effort just to firmly stand up for myself every day at school, yet I never gave up. There were days where thoughts of giving up were whispering to my mind telling me to give up, but I knew so well that there was a powerful inner voice inside me constantly telling me that I should never give up and I should never let go of my dreams in life.
I strived and worked very hard, staying up all night long to keep up with my studies as my days were wasted with immense thoughts of the bad experiences I went through during my days. My mental health got far worse when I failed my first math test. As a high achiever, I rarely failed a test in school. After I failed my first math test in school, I was utterly depressed and not a single word came out of my mouth for days. My parents became excessively worried about my mental health, and they insisted on taking me to a psychiatrist as my days became darker and my mental health became poorer. Fortunately, without the need to see a psychiatrist, I was able to recover after a week. As I recovered, I approached the mirror in my room. I stood rigidly in front of the mirror, and I promised myself that this was going to be my life-changing moment as I said, " From this point onwards, I will never allow myself to drown in the misery of depression again and I will always strive to keep myself highly motivated and highly inspired " .
It took me lots of dark periods in my life where I trapped myself in a room full of darkness and duskiness to finally make a life-changing decision which comes with the promise of changing my life from complete darkness to complete brightness. I acknowledged that I have values in life which I will never give up for anything. I continued to struggle with mental health issues as I still had to deal with my bullies daily, yet I came back much stronger, and I was able to silence the constant thoughts of giving up on life by the potent and consistent beliefs engraved in my heart that held be back from succeeding and striving to excel in my education.
Finally, when I reached the 12th grade, bullying stopped as my bullies were no longer in the same classroom that I was in and we rarely saw each other, but my journey did not end here. I acknowledged the pain and suffering I have gone through in my past having to stand up for myself every day, I acknowledged the countless meltdowns that happened to me, I acknowledged the times I had to lock the door on myself not wanting to see anybody's face, and I acknowledged how my life changed from complete darkness and gloominess to complete brightness and brilliance. My morality and selflessness obligated me to take that advantage and change people's lives. Two months into 12th grade, I began mentoring victims of bullying at school. I helped many students at school, and I changed their lives from complete darkness to complete brightness. I also used to motivate bullied students at my school who I saw, I used to simply talk to them, offer them mentoring if they needed, and offer them assistance to the best of my ability. I am very proud to say that many bullied students in my school saw me as their hope.
Today, as a college student, I strive to help those affected by mental health. I have volunteered in several organizations, yet I am planning to begin volunteering at particularly organizations that deal with those struggling with mental illness. As I am planning to pursue a bachelor's degree in healthcare management, I plan to prioritize treatments for mental health in the place I work. Let alone prioritizing treatment for mental health, most hospitals and clinics across the country do not even pay any attention to the patients suffering from mental illnesses. Across the globe, people suffering from mental illnesses are shamed by the society. The society is so corrupt that shaming people with mental illnesses is seen as " a social norm ", and that is beyond heartbreaking and sickening because the struggle is real and mental health is real and depriving people suffering from mental illness from help and mercy can only lead to skyrocketing suicidal rates among those suffering from mental health issues.
I am very inspired and highly encouraged to be the hope of those who lost hope. One of my mother's relatives suffers from mental health issues as well. I call him every week on zoom to inspire him and tell him my own story of overcoming my mental health issues. I also constantly remind him that life has so much more to offer than pain, misery, dullness, and darkness. Mercifully, I was able to have a monumental impact on him as I was able to change his suicidal thoughts into aspiring thoughts. Even though he is still struggling with mental illness, yet, after I have been talking with him once a week for 2 months, I saw a considerable impact on his mental health- it got far better. I will continue to strive for and aspire for helping people with mental health issues hoping that one day suffering fades away.
Bold Hope for the Future Scholarship
Hope is the greatest thing in life. Without hope, life would pleasureless because without hope for a better future, there would be no reason for a person to keep breathing. Hope is the biggest blessing a person could have. In these difficult times where the suicide rates across our country and the whole world are skyrocketing, inflation is skyrocketing, millions of people were laid off their jobs, financial hardships are skyrocketing, diseases are spreading swiftly in the world, and the hope for a better future are plunging. In these times, motivating people becomes a dreadfully arduous mission, but the hope for a better future should never be lost.
I have been motivating people since I was young. From volunteering at different organizations to mentoring victims of bullying at school, I have always been the hope for desperate and downhearted people. One of the biggest things that gives me hope for a better future is the expeditiously advancement in technology and healthcare. I do firmly believe that the new advancements promise humanity with solutions to most problems. If we look at the situations of our world 100 years ago, we will acknowledge that our world today is far better and far more advanced that it was back then. In the USA, the technological advancements that took place within the last 100 years are eye-popping. People are constantly finding new ways to make life easier and better, and one person could always contribute to the good of all. It is very easy to totally lose hope and give up in times that seem to be " the most difficult times in history " but the fact of the matter is that history witnessed eras that are 100 times worse than these times, yet people back then were still able to overcome these difficult times.
When I look at the history of the United States alone, I become very inspired when I read about the extraordinary accomplishments that were made on this land alone, slavery was abolished, people of color were finally granted their freedom, the white supremacy came to an end, and many other great accomplishments. This country witnessed one of the deadliest civil wars in the history of the whole world that happened about 160 years ago. Within a period less than 200 years, America has gone from its darkest era in its history to one of its most shining eras in history. When looking at the history of Japan as well, they were devastated by the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki back in 1945, yet they still managed to become one of the world’s most advanced countries within a period of less than 100 years. That shows that humans can always accomplish extraordinary things and can always overcome obstacles. Some obstacles might take longer for some people to overcome, but what I am certain about is that not a single hardship we are facing today in our world will last forever, and that gives me infinite hope.
Bold Hobbies Scholarship
My favorite hobbies include reading , cycling , playing soccer, and drawing. I have great passion for my hobbies, and I am very persistent about fulfilling these hobbies and even turning them into cash with the best of my ability. My passion for reading began when I was 5 years old. I began reading about various topics which included : horror , science fiction , mystery , fantasy, and history. My parents used to always emphasize me to read books as books are the greatest tools to expand one's knowledge. Therefore, my great passion for reading started at a very young age. I am forever grateful for my family for their extraordinary support they showed me since I was young in reading as I could have not accomplished that great passion for reading without my parents’ support.
I also have great passion for biking and playing soccer as they are my favorite sports and I truly enjoy doing these sports. I have participated in multiple contests at high school in cycling and soccer and I won several awards, which made me feel very proud of myself and fueled with happiness. When it comes to drawing, my passion for drawing started when my sister first drew me. I had no passion for drawing before that life-changing moment. When my sister drew me, I was fascinated by the magnificence and perfection of her drawing, and that fueled my great passion for drawing. I began drawing months later after my sister taught me the fundamentals of drawing, and from that point onwards, I became very talented in drawing.
I do firmly believe that hobbies do greatly matter. Hobbies make life more fun and enjoyable, and that is why I do my best to never let go of my hobbies.
Bold Bucket List Scholarship
Life can be chaotic, but a bucket list can make life far less chaotic and less complicated. On my bucket list, I have a lot of things to do. I must become a healthcare administrator/manager at the top of my bucket list, getting married as soon as I get my bachelor's degree, travelling across the whole country, changing people's lives to the better, eventually becoming rich one day, climbing mountains, surfing, etc. So far, I am on my track on getting a bachelor's degree in healthcare management, and I have gone surfing as well.
Achieving everything I have on my bucket list can be quite challenging, it might even seem impossible, but with passion and persistence, everything can be accomplishable, even the most challenging things. I make sure that every day before I go to sleep, I look at my bucket list and I remind myself of what it takes to get my bucket list empty. I do believe that a bucket list acts like an organizer to organize people's lives and make life simpler and easier. Without having a bucket list, life might seem extremely chaotic and incredibly disorganized. One would drown with wonders and excessive thoughts of what to do or what to accomplish in life. That is why I would never let go of my bucket list.
I acknowledge that my dreams are big but getting out of my comfort zone and working hard to make these dreams come true is a responsibility and a mission that I must accomplish. Since I was young, I have always questioned my mission in life. As I grew up and wrote my bucket list, I acknowledged that my dreams are closer to reality than to imagination, and from there, I am striving to make my dreams come true.
Bold Speak Your Mind Scholarship
It is very challenging to always speak your mind bluntly without forcing yourself to always keep your thoughts trapped in your mind. When you are surrounded by people who do not agree with your ideas, it becomes even more challenging to simply " state your thoughts " about something. That is why most people tend to " go with the crowd " instead of doing what that person thinks is the best. That is a major crisis in my opinion because people are silencing themselves when they are not forced to do so and that is leading to more people following wrong paths and going in the wrong direction.
Honestly, it was an extremely arduous challenge in my life to speak my mind. I always disagreed with what most people thought, and that is one of the things that makes me unique. For instance, when I was in school, my classmates used to make fun of one another's country/nationality, race, ethnicity, skin color, or religion thinking that this is quite normal under the name of " we are just having fun " I always used to encourage them not to do that because it hurts people's feelings, and I was always seen as the odd one in the class. Sometimes, thoughts came through my mind to stay silent and to pretend what they were saying was hilarious, so I fit in the toxicity of the class, but I always reminded myself of my morality and what my values are.
I eventually got better at speaking my mind, and I knew for a fact that if I disagree with someone, I should speak the truth even if everyone disagrees with what I said. To speak my mind, I constantly remind myself of my values and goals in life.
Bold Creativity Scholarship
Creativity is one of the most spectacular blessings in life. Life would be extremely dull and boring if it was not for the marvelous and extraordinary creativity in this world. I am a very creative writer. I have always expressed my thoughts through writing. Sometimes, I would come home not wanting to talk to anybody, so I open my laptop and start writing for hours and hours. For instance, whenever I see obstacles in my community, I write about solutions to these problems, I just write as much as I can hoping that some of these solutions would solve some of the problems in my community. I also participated in many writing contests, and I was able to win 4 out of 10 writing contests at my school.
I am very passionate about drawing as well. I grew up drawing and painting with my sister, as she has taught me the fundamentals of drawing. It all started when my sister drew me one day, and from that point onwards, I was fascinated by her drawing, and I decided that I should start drawing too. After 2 months, I drew my sister, which was my first time I completed a drawing successfully.
Writing and reading are two of the things I am very passionate about. I always try to adopt new ways of writing and drawing so I keep updating my knowledge and skills constantly. Persistence is also a key factor for creativity. I am very persistent about being creative and striving to find new ways to apply creativity throughout my daily life. All the extraordinary inventions in this world were made by creative people. I will continue to strive and work hard to advance my creativity and to come up with new ways to make things better.
Bold Talent Scholarship
I am a very talented writer. Since I was young, I was always distinguished by my peers in school for being a highly talented writer, but I was never satisfied or fulfilled with my writing skills. I have always worked very hard and dedicated countless hours of practice to improve my writing skills as much as possible. It was a struggle for me to dedicate so many hours just for my writing skills when I had so much homework to do at my school, but that did not deprive me at all from working very hard to improve my writing skills because I knew very well what I was striving for was not going to go down the drain and my hard work would be preserved.
I am forever grateful to some of my amazing professors at college that saw that talent in me and offered me full support. They encouraged me to keep striving and keep working hard to advance my writing skills and never let go of this great talent that I have. I am also a very talented reader as I grew up reading news everyday about various topics. I also read countless books every day during school, I enjoyed reading more than most of my classmates. My potential for writing comes from my potential for reading. As I read more, I gain more knowledge, which helps me expand my writing skills.
I am very proud of my talents because they are productive and have helped me become a far more knowledgeable person. Persistence is what advances my talents. I am very passionate about my talents, and that makes me not afraid of practicing my skills every day and working hard to improve and advance my skills as much as I can.
Bold Confidence Matters Scholarship
The lack of confidence is skyrocketing across the younger generation as the influence of social media is depriving the younger generation from having confidence. Confidence is the most important thing for living a happy and a successful life. When a person is confident in himself/herself, that person would be fearless of even the toughest and most challenging situations. Living with confidence is not an easy task, it takes a lot of courage and strength to be confident.
I have always struggled to keep myself confident. Growing up with social phobia, it was not easy for me at all to build relationships with people and to have friends. I faced bullying during middle school and high school as I was not as socially capable as my peers. I pushed myself every day and did everything I could do to gain confidence in myself. One of my biggest weaknesses was public speaking. As I approached the stage to speak in my high school graduation ceremony in front of everybody, my heart was trembling, and my body was shaking out of fear and anxiety. All I had to say was a couple of words, yet I was not able to control my excessive anxiety and fear during the speech.
After I survived my high-school graduation speech ceremony, I went home and decided to make a change- a major one. I decided that I should work harder than I ever did before to gain confidence in myself. I threw myself out there, I increased my volunteerism, I even got a summer job which involved speaking directly to clients and I practiced public speaking in front of my family members. I knew for a fact that it was going to be a gradual process, and I am forever grateful to that life-changing moment.
Bold Goals Scholarship
I plan to strive in the healthcare management field as I want to help as many people as I can. I have always had ethical concerns about the healthcare system in hospitals and clinics in the country. I believe that patients are not receiving the most efficient treatment and are not offered the most affordable prices due to the greediness of healthcare administrators. When I look at my future vision in the healthcare management field, I always feel that my dream is too far from reality, but then I remember that everything seems impossible until it's done, all you got to do is strive and work hard to make your dreams come true. I hope that kids with cancer whom their precious tears are watering the floors of hospitals will have my name engraved in their hearts.
Bold Reflection Scholarship
My life was not a straightforward path, it was full of ups and downs, yet not a single bad experience in my life killed my hope. I have always been battling to improve the society around me and compete to spread morality. I grew up being bullied at school, and I had to fight for my dignity every single day, and I had to forget everything once I get home so I can start studying and being productive. It was not easy at all for me to do that as some bad days seemed to keep me trapped and I did not want to do anything, yet I could not have let bad experiences in life take away the pleasure of the innumerable good things I have done.
As I grew up, I realized that my successes in the past have helped shape my hopes for the future. I knew for a fact that if I was able to overcome all these obstacles that I have faced in my life without giving up, I would be capable of overcoming more challenging obstacles without blinking my eyes twice. My goals in life include studying healthcare management and that field needs a lot of persistence. By reflecting on my life, I can take a glance at my past, and be inspired by the extraordinary accomplishments I have done in the past.
Sometimes, life becomes difficult and my hopes for a better future begin to fade, but I always remind myself that giving up is not an option when I have succeeded in overcoming all these obstacles in the past. I do believe that reflection gives an accurate image of something/someone. The reflection of my life gives me one more reason to never let go of my dreams.
Bold Relaxation Scholarship
Self-care is what fuels success, positivity, and happiness. I am very aware of my mental health, and I always prioritize it before anything else. The most successful people in the world could have never reached their level of success if they have not taken care of their mental health. Living in a fast-paced world, very few people prioritize their mental health before work, school, and other overwhelming responsibilities in life. As a full-time college student, I do not have a job. I only work during holidays or breaks. I have many hours each week to take care of myself, to relax, and to take the time to appreciate the beauty of life.
I go walking at least 4 days a week with my family in a nearby creek for approximately 1- 2 hours. That gives me so much peace and happiness. When I come back from the walk, I feel so energetic that I can study for hours without interruption. Most of my peers at college were shocked by the positivity and productivity I show in college. I always explain to them that prioritizing mental health and taking a break from a hectic lifestyle can only lead to more productivity and more positivity. Students who were working part-time or even full-time while enrolled in full-time courses were always miserable and in an appalling mood. That is because they did not have the time to take care of their mental health, which leads to immense negativity and anxiety.
Many students fail to pay attention to the importance of mental health until they drown in the misery of anxiety, and their lives turn into a nightmare. I constantly raise awareness on social media to encourage people to take care of their mental health and to practice self-care.
Bold Empathy Scholarship
Empathy contributes to the smiles of people's faces who are inundated with anxiety and misery. I always make sure to be empathetic in dealing with everybody, and especially in dealing with people drowning in misery and sorrowfulness. I try to look at people with my heart, not with my eyes. When I look at people with my heart, I see their hearts, not their faces. A person's face is like a locked door, and a person's heart is like a room. You will not know what is behind that door unless your goal is to enter the room, not just to look at the locked door doing nothing.
I have a lot of experience in dealing with people empathetically as I mentored victims of bullying during high school. When victims of bullying ran to me with tears in their eyes and pain in their hearts, I saw those victims, I could see the sorrowfulness and pain in their beautiful hearts through the tears in their eyes. I treated them very empathetically especially that I once was in their shoes. I was able to help countless victims of bullying and guide them through a path full of light and brightness when they were stuck in darkness. I was able to have such a great impact on so many students because I was empathetic.
Unfortunately, we live in a world today where people seem to be very selfish and refuse to understand what other people are going through. Being empathetic makes me selfless. When a person is suffering or is in misery, the worst thing that can happen to that person is being turned away by others. That can lead to horrible outcomes and might even lead to suicide. That is why I take pride of my extraordinary empathy !
Bold Fuel Your Life Scholarship
Life is like a car, if you do not constantly fuel it, it will not move. My goals in life fuel my life. I might go through some dull times in my life, it might feel too dull if you were to live a life without goals. My extraordinary goals in healthcare management include improving people's lives and having a great impact on the healthcare system in the country. The misery and pain people are going through fuels my motivation and eagerness to work hard to be someone's hope in a cold, dull world. When I think of my goals in life, giving up on life becomes out of the question.
I do believe that friends, hobbies, and many different things might fuel a person's life as well, but they are not as efficient as having firm goals in life that you work hard to pursue and are persistent about pursuing. When my car gets low , I immediately go to the nearest gas station to fuel it. When my life gets low, I fuel my life with my plans and goals. When I read the news everyday about the number of Americans dying each year due to the skyrocketing costs of treatment and about patients suffering from severe illnesses, that alone inspires me to keep going because I want to have an influence, I want to help people in need and have an influence in this world.
Sometimes, fueling your life does not take enormous efforts. Most people think that being constantly motivated and inspired is a near impossible task, while the fact of the matter is that reminding yourself of your purpose in life and your goals are enough to fuel your life, that is my biggest secret for persistence : Keep your eye on the prize !
Bold Success Scholarship
Success is one of the most challenging things to achieve in life. Success is a very long way to go. During my journey for achieving success, I fell, stumbled, and tripped, yet I never gave up. There were many people trying to discourage me during my journey for success, but I was always very firm to keep chasing my dreams. My goals for the future include pursuing a degree and working in the healthcare management field. I plan to work very hard to strive in the field of healthcare management. I plan to do everything I can to make people's lives better. One of my goals for the future is to make healthcare more affordable and more accessible .
When I look at the lengthy and extortionate path of getting a bachelor's degree followed by a master's degree in healthcare management, whispers of discouragement begin to invade my mind, but I always silence these false whispers but telling myself " Everything seems impossible until it is done " Most students give up on their dreams simply because they feel too discouraged to proceed through a path that might seem impossible to succeed in. A path that is too easy and too short will not take a person to success because success can only be achieved through arduous and lengthy paths.
My goals for the future also include being a healthcare administrator which takes a lot of experience, hard work, and commitment to achieve. From that point onwards, I plan to make a change by eliminating corruption and prioritizing patients because my morality encourages me to do so. Life will always hold unprecedented surprises that might keep a person from achieving success, but by persistence, achieving success would be straightforward and attainable.
Bold Equality Scholarship
The world has made extraordinary achievements in equality over the past decades. In America alone , black people were granted their full freedom which was never expected in the history of this nation, and people of color were also granted their full rights, freedom , and liberty. Equality is one of the most fundamental rights of human being, and inequality is one of the main reasons of many conflicts in the world today. In the fundamental belief that all human beings were created equal , it is very dominant to establish equality in this country and in the whole world as well.
I have always raised awareness on social media and participated in various campaigns to fight inequality and stand up for human dignity, equality , and justice. I have also stood up for many people who were victims of discrimination, inequality , and racism. When I mentored victims of bullying during high school, some of the victims faced bullying due to their race , religion, or nationality. Diversity is very important as well , and when equality is established , diversity becomes much easier to deal with and to live with.
Many people have told me that no matter how much I battle to fight inequality , I will not have any impact on establishing equality in this country or in the world. Even though I might not be as influential as Martin Luther King, I am still doing my part in fighting inequality, and that is a part of being a decent human being. I have always encouraged my peers in school and in my college to raise awareness against inequality, to respect other people, and to do their part as well in fighting inequality. I always remind people that equality contributes to a great society.
Bold Nature Matters Scholarship
Nature is the biggest blessing sent to mankind. Luckily, we live in a nation full of nature, America has endless national parks, trees, mountains, valleys, and all other kinds of nature. Since I was young, I have always greatly appreciated nature. I learned the appreciation of nature from my father as I grew up listening to the magical stories of how nature is the key factor to success, happiness, and living with a purpose. My father used to always take me to mountains and parks to admire nature. I grew up being an introvert, so when my father used to take me to nature , I used to ask him if I can sit down alone and talk to nature.
Some people used to think I am crazy, but no one used to acknowledge my feelings, as I consider nature to be my best friend. Nature brings peace. When we realize the bloodbaths, wars, tensions, and how stressful and unpleasant life can be, we realize how peaceful, mind blowing, and beautiful nature is. I do not just appreciate nature by bragging about how much time I spend in nature, but also by working hard and doing actions to show my appreciation for nature. Part of my volunteerism was dedicated for nature. I volunteered in one of the most important environmental events that is done annually in Texas, the event is called " Arbor Day " and it is to plant trees across the state of Texas.
I participated in that event at my college. I also participated in several different events to plant trees, clean forests, and ocean cleanups. I also do constantly raise awareness on social media to spread the harm and devastation our world will go through by cutting trees, littering in the ocean and forests, etc.
Bold Persistence Scholarship
Sometimes, life can be overwhelming. You might have the motivation for doing something, you might be prepared so well for it, but then you might feel sudden emptiness, and nothing will motivate you in life anymore. If you are not persistent, you will fail, and all your hard work will go down the drain along with your extraordinary dreams being vanished.
During my years of high school, I was a victim of bullying. I had to fight my bullies every day and stand up firmly and vigorously to defend my dignity. I had extraordinary passion, dedication, and motivation for studying. One day, I felt too tired of battling every single day to stand up for myself during school and study hard at home to compete for the best grades, and I was so close on giving up on what I have worked hard for so long. I looked at myself in the mirror and yelled " You do not want to do it, but you have to, you must do it whether you like it or not " Most people give up too easily once they get out of their comfort zone, once they acknowledge that they must do things they do not like to achieve success, they give up immediately. I studied harder than I used to, I put in more effort, and I whispered to myself that persistence is the key for success, and achieving success is an impossible task without being persistent.
Finally, I was able to graduate from high school with an " A " grade, which made me more grateful than ever to the incredible persistence I have shown in my studies. Without persistence, no matter how hard I study or how much effort I put in, I would have never achieved success.
Bold Encouraging Others Scholarship
Most suicide victims in this world have taken their own lives because they felt too lonely and isolated in a cold, dull, and depressing world. You can be the smartest person, most talented, and have a great life, but life will get more depressing and duller if there is nobody around you to encourage you to succeed and encouraging you to be the best version of yourself.
I always encourage people by smiling, by telling them how bright their future is going to be, and I always tell people how I was able to overcome many obstacles in my life that kept me from being the best version of myself. I also volunteer, and by volunteering, that encourages people in my community to do good and to have a purpose in life. When I was in high school, mentoring victims of bullying and talking to them encouraged them not to lose hope in life. I started by giving them examples of how I was able to overcome bullying, then I told them how great life is if they were just to stay in the right direction, and I promised them to hold their bullies accountable for their vicious actions because talking alone is never enough, you need actions to encourage people as well. By volunteering, mentoring, and showing people real-world examples of overcoming hardships and obstacles in life, I make sure to encourage those around me and motivate them to move forward.
I have encouraged many people for years, I have shown them how good and inspiring life can be in every way I can, and that gave me a purpose in life. Living in a world today where selfishness is skyrocketing, and most people trying to encourage only themselves, my passion to encourage others makes me very proud.
Bold Study Strategies Scholarship
One could study for countless hours, but what is the whole purpose of doing that if your studying strategies are not efficient ? Having fixed and effective study strategies would make one flourish in his/her studies and go above and beyond. I always study in a very, very quiet environment because I know for a fact that if there is too much noise around me, I would not be able to focus on my studies at all. I also study ahead. There is a crisis today that is very common among most students, which is the procrastination of studying.
If I knew I had a test on a certain day, I would plan ahead of time to study for that test with full commitment, dedication, and motivation. Highlighting the important section (s) of each lesson is one of the most efficient study strategies that I use as well. When I highlight these parts, I become more focused on the fundamentals of the lesson. That is very important because without highlighting the most important parts of a lesson, you would waste your time studying things that have no importance whatsoever. When I highlight, I also do it for the sake of making studying a much easier task than it would be if I did not highlight.
I also prefer to study at night. Some people might claim that studying at the daytime is more effective, but I do believe that in the mornings you have all the world's distractions presented right in front of you, while at nights, you have no distractions whatsoever because nights are very relaxing, calm, and quiet. Nights are proven to be the best times of the day for a person to be creative, and creativeness is important to succeed in your studies.
Bold Great Books Scholarship
My favorite book is "The Rise of the American Mass shooter " . It describes the beginning of a disaster that affects America and its people more than anything else does. Thousands of people are killed every year in America due to mass shootings. This reminds us that we live in a country where anyone of us can be murdered viciously by a mentally ill mass shooter . That book is more important than ever to read these days as the number of mass shootings are skyrocketing across the nation as the book reminds us that we all have a humanitarian mission to fight this American problem.
That book also draws deep attention to the root cause of mass shootings in this country. Most Americans today send prayers to the victims of these horrible mass shootings , but what can a prayer or two do? " Absolutely nothing " , it can only make things worse because Americans are only condemning and praying but very few Americans are trying to put in the effort to find the root problem and come up with a solution that will end this crisis and save lives. In this book , the author writes about the isolation , narcissism , and the sense of victimhood that fan their obsession. That makes the readers acknowledge the roots behind this crisis and come up with solutions to the best of their ability .
That book also challenges the famous notion of a " good guy with a gun " , which makes the readers acknowledge and realize how harmful guns can be, it's like a wakeup call to Americans. I love this book so much not only because it is very entertaining and interesting to read, but also because it comes with solutions to problems.
Bold Technology Matters Scholarship
I am more excited than ever about the digital medical technology; it will take this country far in advancement and competitiveness than most other countries in the world. Today, people are suffering from all kinds of illnesses, diseases, and health issues. Many people live too far from a clinic or a hospital or simply cannot afford the skyrocketing costs of medicine. That technology will indeed expand the access to healthcare for everyone across the nation. It will reduce the cost of care as well, and that is great news to millions of people across the country who are struggling to afford their medical expenses.
I have always wondered and asked myself " How can technology improve people's lives at all ? ", but after I read about this technology, I am assured that technology will have a great impact on improving people's lives. As a student planning to pursue healthcare management, I view this new technology as a partner field to healthcare because the two fields are becoming more related than ever these days. Healthcare cannot advance without technology, and technological advancements promise the healthcare field more advancements as days pass. Digital medicine empowers patients as well as healthcare administrators and providers with superior and intelligent tools to address and cure many different conditions and it is so effective because it is very safe and high in quality, and it is very organized as it uses data-driven interventions and highly effective measurements, so it is not a random process.
America is struggling with lack of doctors, physicians, and healthcare providers and that will only get worse as the " Association of American Medical Colleges " projects a shortage between 37,800 and 124,000 physicians. The digital medical technology will only ease that issue and contribute to a much better healthcare system in the country, and will provide accessible, efficient, and cheap care to many people.
Back in the day, doctors had to record the data of their patients using a pen and a paper, which makes this process take too much time and very inefficient because if that paper was lost, it would be a disaster. Whereas with the advancement of technology, healthcare administrators, nurses, doctors, and physicians can easily record all the data on computers which makes the whole process much faster and far more effective that it was back then, which makes me more thankful, appreciative, and grateful to the wonderful advancement of technology and its extraordinary impact on the medical field.
I am super excited about this new technology because it brings solutions to people's problems, and it makes life much easier. Thinking about patients that suffer every day from a wide variety of conditions who cannot afford treatment or do not have access to treatment makes me happy and very eager to this discovery. When I start working at my intended field in the future, I will do my best to advance the digital medical technology in every way I can.
Pro-Life Advocates Scholarship
Every human being on this earth regardless of nationality, religion, national origin, race, or any other factor shall be entitled to the basic right of having the right to breathe. I cannot imagine how cruel, barbaric, and savage it would be to know that a baby is breathing yet murder than innocent life. I have always raised awareness on social media to call to abolish abortion for babies who are alive. Abortion is totally fine if the baby is not alive yet, but not when that baby is alive and breathing.
Unfortunately, it is depressing to live in a world where taking the life of an innocent unborn child is totally fine and has no consequences whatsoever in many places in the world. As a grown-up person, it is easy to enforce your rights and dignity, but how can an unborn baby enforce any of his/her rights when he/she is not even born yet ? Abortion is the fancy word of " murder ". Any life taken by anyone is murder, and there shall be consequences to actions.
What I always tell people about abortion is " Just because you can't see something does not mean it is not there " People who defend abortion even if the baby was in his last stages of developing, defend their actions by saying that the baby is not physically born yet. That has nothing to do with religion as some pro-abortion people claim. I look at the situation from a perspective of humanity, and not from a perspective of religion or something else. When the baby is aborted, that innocent soul goes through colossal pain, and that pain is seen to be something " very normal " for some people. The pain is there, the misery is there, and the inhumanity is there as well, but we ease our guilt by saying " Oh it's fine, the baby is not out there yet "
36,000 babies are murdered viciously every year while the laughter and giggles of the parents and doctors are showing the inconsideration that parents and doctors have towards this innocent soul. In 2016, I participated in a campaign involving 20,000 people who were Muslims, Christians, and feminists united to raise their voices against abortion and against the murder of any innocent soul. There is oppression constantly going on against unborn babies every single day in our country and in every other country in the world. These aborted little angels could have become doctors, engineers, they could have become very successful people, and killing them is a matter of shame.
During the campaign I was involved in, we encountered many people who were yelling at us claiming that we are anti- freedom. We explained to them that we are not anti-freedom and that even some Agnostics and Atheists were participating in the campaign as well because we view abortion as oppression and an inhumane activity and not from a religious perspective of view.
I will continue to take a role in embracing morality in this world. As a very moral person, I view abortion as an unethical and an unmoral act. One of my career dreams in healthcare management is to restrict abortion, and that is one of my moral goals !
"A State of Mind" Texas Scholarship
Being a Texan to me means pride, courage, commitment, and love. Texas is the backbone of the USA. Texas is blessed with its marvelous and warm-hearted people that are always devoted to helping those in need. Texas has a unique scent of pride as Texans have always showed extraordinary bravery in protecting their blessed soil. Texans are always willing to give their lives for protecting the freedom of America as a country, Texans do that without having their eyes blink twice.
If Texas were to be its own country, it would be wealthier than most of the world's countries including Russia. Texas is home to most of America's investors. Let alone the investors, Tesla itself along with Elon Musk moved to " The Lone Star State ", that alone gives a tremendous sense of pride to every Texan. Texas is the top producer of cotton, sheep, goats, corn, horses, and many other products in the nation. Texas meat is one the most delicious meat in the nation as Texas is home to almost 11 million cows, one of the highest numbers in the country as well.
Texas is a very appealing and charming state as well. Texas is home to more than 80 state parks. It is a very popular statement to say that " Everything's bigger in Texas " . That is very true as not only are the sizes bigger in Texas, but the hearts of Texans are enormous as well which explains their unbeatable hospitality.
Bold Career Goals Scholarship
I plan to strive in the healthcare management field as I want to help as many people as I can. I have always had ethical concerns about the healthcare system in hospitals and clinics in the country. I believe that patients are not receiving the most efficient treatment and are not offered the most affordable prices due to the greediness of healthcare administrators. When I look at my future vision in the healthcare management field, I always feel that my dream is too far to be real and even impossible to achieve, but then I remember that everything seems impossible until it's done, all you got to do is strive and work hard to make your dreams come true.
I plan to have a positive impact on the healthcare system of the whole nation, I plan to make healthcare accessible to as much people as can, I plan to provide the best and most affordable treatment where I work, I plan to fight corruption and expose corrupt people that take advantage of people's health and use it for their own profit. I plan to eliminate racism and discrimination in healthcare, I plan to make people's lives better. I am strongly driven and highly encouraged to achieve my dreams because I believe in what I am striving for, and all it takes is to believe in yourself and to do the work.
I hope that kids with cancer whom their precious tears are watering the floors of hospitals will have my name engraved in their hearts. I want to make life better for them and I want their pain to heal forever. I might be dreaming about this right now, but I am very motivated and inspired that one day my dream will become fulfilled and become a reality.
Bold Bravery Scholarship
One who is not brave enough to follow a path they drew by themselves will drown in the muddy path of failure. It was very, very challenging for me to become a brave person. Being brave is no easy task at all. Finally, I decided to make bravery my motto in life. My field of study needs a lot of effort, healthcare management is a very competitive and a challenging field which requires you to balance healthcare and business skills. I hesitated through the path of choosing this path until I finally told myself " If you are too coward to follow a path you drew for yourself, you will drown in the muddy path of failure and you will taste the bitter taste of being a coward "
As I wake up every morning, new challenges are waiting for me. Without bravery, completing these tasks would be an impossible mission because giving up is the easiest thing one could do, and without bravery, there would be no reason at all for me to even get out of the bed every morning and work hard to remove those obstacles from my path.
I have encountered many people in college that told me that they wanted to become lawyers and doctors, yet they lacked the bravery to take that risky path. Most people are willing to stay in their low-paying jobs even though there are far better opportunities waiting for them out there. Lack of bravery paralyzes a person because that person is no longer willing to move even one step ahead in life. Life was never meant to be too afraid of your dreams. I personally look at the extraordinary accomplishments great people have achieved in history; these people obviously were not afraid of their dreams !
Bold Gratitude Scholarship
Living by gratitude makes you appreciate everything you have in this life. If you are ungrateful to what you have, then you will no longer be satisfied with anything you have. I deeply appreciate my family, my professors at college, and a few friends that I have for making my life better. I am a very appreciative person who appreciates every person making my life better. When it comes to my parents, even though we might argue sometimes, I still express my deepest gratitude to their immense love every day, and I strive to try to repay as little as 1% of what they provided me since the day I was born.
I express my deepest gratitude to all my professors as well. I write them kind letters at the end of each semester telling them how much their help meant to me in contributing to my overall success in that course. I appreciate my very few friends that I have by telling them how much their help means to me and by giving them small yet meaningful gifts to show them that I deeply appreciate them. Living with gratitude has made my life far better, it has changed my perspective on life. By expressing gratitude and appreciating what I have, that fulfills my heart and eases my negative thoughts. One of the biggest reasons I am a big dreamer and I constantly compete to getting better is because I appreciate what I have in life and from that point onward I use my blessings in life as resources to make people's lives better, people who might not have the same privileges that I do.
Being appreciative also fuels my happiness, if I were to constantly criticize what I have, I would be a miserable person.
Bold Meaning of Life Scholarship
When I close my eyes preparing to sleep, my brain interferes and asks me the same question repeatedly, every single night, a question that is stealing the sleep from the eyes of millions of people in the world wondering what the meaning of life is. Some people find the meaning of life is to be patriotic and brag about one's country, others think that the whole purpose of life is to worship God, as these people believe in a strong sense of a divine being that has created and controls every aspect of our world since the creation of the first human. Others find the meaning of life is to make money and strive to become rich, richer, and eventually the richest. Others find the meaning of life is to be kind to people and love others. Very rarely, some people might find the whole purpose of life is to kill and harm people or seek revenge from this world, and that is clearly explained through every serial killer and mass shooter’s motivation.
To me, I think the meaning of life is to inspire, do good, spread morality, loving where we live and competing to make the society around us better, and compete in improving our countries and spreading respect and tolerance. Life is all about joy and love. I do firmly believe that at this time in history, at this specific place or country every one of us is living in, we have duties that we shall fulfill. That explains my immense efforts to get high grades and compete to get into a good university to help people as much as I can and make life better for people. One should learn to live by the goal of improving people's life.
Bold Selfless Acts Scholarship
Selflessness is what defines me since I was a young child. I have volunteered in various organizations across my community. Selflessness have shaped the person I am today. I have volunteered in North Texas Food Bank, my local religious center, my high school, and several environmental organizations as well. I had a great impact on many people. I assisted in packing food to thousands of families during my volunteering at North Texas Food Bank. I have also packed hundreds of bags of food at several volunteering events at my local place of worship, Muslims and Christians were united during this event, and we packed hundreds of bags of necessities in trunks of people in need.
During my high school years, I have mentored victims of bullying. I was an inspirational figure to many of helpless and vulnerable kids who had been severely bullied and sought my help- so I was there for them, and I helped them in every way I can. I took a role in one of the biggest Arbor events at my local college, we planted up to 50 trees, it was a great experience for me because as our country and our world is facing an unprecedented environmental crisis, we need more volunteers to answer the call of our country and our beautiful earth in general.
Selflessness is one of greatest advantages I have. I strongly believe that a world full of selfless people would be a far more productive and a far better world than a selfish world. People need to acknowledge that they are not living alone. What you do affects everybody around you. If you do good, that good will come back to you in one way or another, and vice versa.
Bold Giving Scholarship
Giving back to my community is what has shaped me since I was young. Very sadly, the selfishness rates among people in our world is skyrocketing. More people are becoming selfish, they want to keep everything for themselves, not even thinking of those in need. I am convinced that selfishness is what created poverty and made our world drown in the tears of hungry children who are struggling to find their necessities while some people are having their dinner in mansions, why don't these people help people in need ?
I have volunteered in many different organizations in my area, and I have served countless people in need. My love to volunteer came from my love to help those in need, and to be the hope of people who have lost hope in a cold, dispiriting world. When someone gives me something, I do not feel relieved until I give it back to that person. I grew up giving people. At school, there used to be many students who don’t bring food with them to the lunch break ( reasons vary ), and I used to rush to give these students some food or drinks, and I even used to offer them money if they wanted to purchase something from the school cafeteria, even if I did not know these students before.
Giving back is what makes me always so happy, motivated, and dedicated. When I see that smile on a person's face smelling the mouthwatering food that he/she could never have dreamt of, that makes by heart jump of joy. Whereas, if I was offered something by someone, I would be thankful and grateful to that person, but I would not be happy or fulfilled. Only by being a productive person and giving others, a person can find happiness.
Bold Wisdom Scholarship
" The more you learn in life, the less knowledgeable you become ". People read a book or two, get a degree, get a job, keep themselves constantly updated about the latest news, thinking they know everything in life. The fact of the matter is that not a single human in this country or in any other country in the world can achieve infinite knowledge and infinite wisdom. People learn and grow in this world. It is impossible to find a person that has infinite knowledge and wisdom, not even the most successful people on earth.
Life is like climbing a mountain that has no peak whatsoever, a mountain that is endless in height. As you climb that mountain, you would think that you are closer to reaching its peak, but the fact of the matter is that you are nowhere close to reaching the peak of the mountain. You would climb for hours, days, weeks, months, and years and then finally say " Finally, I have made it, I have reached the peak of the mountain " only until you realize that what you thought was the peak of the mountain is not even close to the peak of the mountain. As a kid, I always thought that when I graduate high school, I would be the most knowledgeable person in the world, but now, I am beyond halfway of graduating college, and every day I learn something new I was not aware of before.
People think that once they reach to a certain level or age in life, they would reach the peak of knowledge and wisdom. The truth of the matter is that you can improve your wisdom and knowledge in life, but you can never achieve infinite wisdom and knowledge, that is impossible.
Bold Know Yourself Scholarship
I have learned that I am a very, very helpful person. I am always there for people in need. Volunteering and mentoring have shaped the person I am today. I always knew that I adored volunteering, but I never knew the reason behind that. I even used to ask myself " What is that secret that makes me melt in the love of volunteering, until I finally acknowledged that helping people is my hobby. That skyrocketed my self-esteem and my self-love. I realized that many people don't have the privilege I have.
I have learned that I am passionate about helping people. It was not easy for me to learn that about myself because I always had that question that ran through my mind " Do I really like it ? " There have been many challenging times in my life where the feelings of worthlessness and frivolousness flowed through my mind. I had to remind myself every time that I am contributing to my society and the people in need around me in every way I can. I knew for a fact that the prayers of the children whom I helped did not go down the drain, these prayers helped me a lot in my dark times and in the times I felt worthless.
The love to help others is the most valuable thing anyone could ever do. Whenever I help people, my self-respect booms, and that helps me look at my future in a brighter way. My long-term goals in life are a part of my extraordinary and remarkable willingness to help those in need and to be an inspirational figure for children who come from low-income families to thrive in their education regardless of their financial difficulties.
Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
I grew up with social anxiety. I was bullied at school because I was not as socially capable as my peers. There have been many times in life where I felt down, but I did not think of suicide because I always wanted to get out of that darkness to inspire people with depression. At school, my mental health was at its worst. I had nobody but my family besides me, not even a single friend. Growing up with no friends and no social life whatsoever made my mental health very bad. I was born in the United States to immigrant parents, but grew up overseas, and those difficult times were during my school years overseas. I am not as religious as my parents are, but I am a believer. I sincerely prayed for God's help and His guidance in overcoming these hardships and obstacles in life. I wanted to pursue healthcare administration since I was a little kid, so I studied hard because I could not allow my grades to slip.
Every time I was even close to thinking about taking my own life, I would look at myself in the mirror and tell myself to stay strong. I have volunteered in many different organizations such as North Texas Food Bank, my high school, my local place of worship, and in many other environmental organizations as well. I have also mentored students during my 12th grade at school who were victims of bullying. I knew so much about bullying because I had to struggle with bullying during most of my school years. I was involved in a lot of fights, and I still remember, my school principal had to call my parents over 10 times to the school. Our school principal and my supervisor and teachers as well as my peers in school agreed that my primary goal was to defend my dignity during these fights. I could not let some underachieving students take my dreams and take away the morality and respect I had to others, so I stood up for myself fearlessly. To be honest, I used to go home, and stress out so much and often cry because I am a very calm and loving person, I hate violence and fights, but sometimes I had to stand up for myself which triggered violence. One of the main reasons I got bullied is because I was not a social person, I had no friends, so bullies used to take advantage that there is nobody to stand up for me. When I was in middle school, I used to write my diary every day, not a single day I missed. Most of my days in middle school were dark, depressing, and very stressful.
During my high school years, the situation improved a little bit, but bullying did not stop until 12th grade, which is the grade I was a mentor in. I had two bullies who were bullying me the most during middle school, and one day, I was surprised to see one student who stood up for me. That student got bullied far worse than I was, and he was ripped off his dignity multiple times in front of me, because the bullies were furious that somebody finally stood up for me. Later, he became my friend, his name is " Omar ". Omar and I used to hang out together, stand up for each other, laugh together, and we used to be each other's hope until one day. One that day which I still remember very well, it was a Thursday afternoon, and we had a science class at school. Me, Omar, and the two bullies were sitting on one table, we were one group of four because our class was divided into 7 groups. Omar, who was supposed to be my " best friend ", joined the bullies against me. At first I thought it was a joke by him when he told me " We will beat you up after school today, so find us at this location if you are strong enough to fight the three of us " I looked at Omar at told him in a sense of humor " Bro, stop joking around, I am not in the mood right now " He told me " Well, you will see if I am joking around or not ". It took me a whole hour to finally realize that even Omar hated me, and he never talked to me again, instead, he took the side of the bullies. That happened just 3 weeks after he became my friend. Clearly, he was a coward, so he wanted to take the stronger side, and they became a group of three bullies, who were also underachieving.
After that day, I was in deep depression. I locked myself in my room for almost a week, I did not want to see anybody. I hated everyone in my school, I even hated people in general. I used to post my hatred of people on social media. I thought everybody in this world was evil, I even hated the most people who come from similar ethnic background as mine, because my middle school years were in the Middle East. Once I reached the 12th grade and began mentoring victims of bullying, my whole mentality changed. I have inspired and stood up for countless victims of bullying at my school. I helped them overcome depression and helped them mentally in every way I could. When we moved back to the United States last year, me, and my family, that was the day that changed my whole life. I felt so inspired that I got back to the United States, and I got to see all my relatives. I started college and felt so good and so inspired because I have left all my horrible experiences in a faraway land. My mental health today is at its peak, and that motivates me to help victims of mental illnesses.
Bold Motivation Scholarship
People suffering is what motivates me daily. When I see people having a hard time to find their necessities, that makes me want to work harder than ever to ease their pain and hardships and to makes their lives better. As I volunteered in many different organizations, I saw the misery people are living in. If you have a roof above your head, that does not mean that everybody has that privilege. Young children felt happier than ever simply because they saw some cookies. The smiles on the faces of hungry children are what fuels my motivation, dedication, and my eagerness to volunteer and to work hard to pursue my degree in Healthcare Management, which I hope to benefit as many people as I can in the future.
What also motivates me is my high sense of morality. I am a very moral person, I condemn inhumane actions, and I work hard to embrace morality. I am privileged to live with my parents who are willing to provide me anything I desire, I have a roof above my head, and I have access to privileges many people don't have. It is morally wrong not to help people in need, and that is what fuels my motivation as well.
My long-term goals in life fuel my motivation and inspiration as well because when I feel down, I look up to my long-term goals in life and tell myself " No giving up, you have goals in life, you got to live up to your promise " My motto in life is to live up to my promise I have made in this life which is to do my best to help everyone in need and to work hard to fight immorality in any way I can.
Bold Great Minds Scholarship
I admire Martin Luther King. That man had a dream, he used his mind to the fullest to embrace justice for Black people in the United States. I do not have to be a Black American to support and admire Martin Luther King, being a human is enough for me. In one of his very famous speeches, he seemed that he was looking into the future of this country, and he talked about how his dreams to see white and black children holding hands in the land of the pilgrims, and his dreams come true. Today, even though racism did not vanish yet, white and black children are united together across schools in the country, they are holding hands and working together side by side.
Martin Luther King used his brain too by willing to die for the sake of justice and freedom, because he knew that it is completely worth it to sacrifice his pure blood for equality, freedom, and justice. He was such a wise man, that every single word he said in every single speech was very inspiring, his voice is so powerful that millions of Americans, black and white, used to attend his speeches. Back then, there was a clear problem in this country, there was no justice for black people, they were not treated equally even though slavery was " abolished ". Martin Luther King was a great thinker because he had a clear solution to end this problem at a time many people had no idea how to solve that problem, and that is what makes him a great person.
He also had a very powerful moral voice, and he was very logical and reasonable in every solution he stated. Today, Americans remember and honor Martin Luther King as a great thinker.
Bold Best Skills Scholarship
My best skill is writing. Since I was a kid, I adored writing. When our English teacher used to assign an essay, the whole class would complain, but I saw that as an opportunity for the growth of my writing skills. Writing makes me express all my feelings, it makes me address important issues in our country and our world, and that makes me happy because writing is a way that I can influence others and make an impact on our world. Writing is the best opportunity for everyone. When I speak, I might forget some ideas I wanted to talk about, I might get nervous and forget my topic, I might not even have an influence because some people might not like the way I speak.
When it comes to writing, that is my opportunity to bring up any topic I want and to state every single idea I have in mind because I have time to correct and add anything I want. I am working harder than ever these days to improve my writing skills as I am using this skill to apply for scholarships, which is like a job for me. I spend countless hours each day writing about various topics, and then I proofread my own writing. I also got tutored in writing throughout my entire middle and high school years, thanks to my parents for realizing my great passion for writing since I was a kid.
My professors at college are all very helpful and very inspiring and they all were impressed with my writing skills. Becoming a good writer was not an easy task for me at all. I had to work very hard and stay consistent with my plans to improve my writing skills and I am continuing to do so.
Bold Financial Freedom Scholarship
When I was speaking to one of my college professors, I told him that I am planning to take loans when I transfer to a 4-year University. The professor told me, " Do not do the same mistake I did, once you get used to debt, you will drown in debt because debt brings debt and the process will never end " I was shocked and immediately asked my professor " I have no job, I would be super embarrassed to ask my parents to pay a very high tuition for me, what should I do ? " He smiled and told me " Apply for scholarships young man ". I took his word and I applied, and I am continuing to apply for as many scholarships I can.
Whenever I advise my peers in college to apply for scholarships, they make a mockery out of my advice by saying " Man, why would I waste hours and hours playing a lottery game ? " I am convinced that applying for a scholarship is the best way to get money and not drown in student debt. It takes commitment and fearlessness to apply for scholarships because most people will follow the easy way, get debt, get more debt, and then that debt grows so much that the student surrenders to debt.
Scholarships is the best way to reward any student that is serious about his/her education. You do not need to have perfect grades to win a scholarship, that is a myth many students hear, so they just give up. When you drown in debt, you will lose your financial freedom. Words are never enough to express the gratitude I have for this financial advice, because it is a successful way to turn away from debt.
Bold Influence Scholarship
I would stand up for morality. In our world today, the decline in morality is skyrocketing. When I read the news in the world, I shake, and my heart becomes in deep pain. The inhumane war crimes, mob attacks, murders, and massacres are happening in our world. When the first human beings on earth evolved, they had to figure out what was moral and what was not. For instance, anything inhumane would me unmoral, and that makes sense because anything against the human values is against morality.
I was told by most people around me that I have a strong moral voice. I always try to bring up morality in every conversation I am involved in, because I am very concerned about the future of morality in our world. If people are used to hearing horrible news about inhumane situations, if murder and other inhumane actions become a norm in society, the world will never heal again, the world would become such a dark place that even the most motivated and inspiring people would lose hope. I can see and predict the future of our world if the decline in morality continued and that makes me sleepless, doing my best to raise my strong moral voice as much as I can.
Most people pay attention to fighting racism and discrimination, I see that as a part of morality. Racism is a part of immorality, so when we fight immorality we would fight any form of injustice, racism, discrimination, etc. We need to acknowledge that all the problems in our world today come directly or indirectly from immorality. By spreading morality, our world becomes better, people would learn to love and to respect one another, and our world would become a better place.
Bold Listening Scholarship
I believe that a person has two ears and one mouth to listen as twice as he/she speaks. Listening to others makes you a smarter and a more knowledgeable person because you are getting information. If you speak, you are stating what you know, which is good, but you are gaining no experience and no knowledge whatsoever, you already know what you are speaking. I am a great listener as I am a shy person, I prefer to listen to what others say more than I speak, and that skyrocketed my knowledge and boosted my grades at school.
When there is group discussion or a group project, most people shout their ideas at the same time which makes it so difficult for everybody, and makes their ideas go unseen because when everyone shouts at the same time, nothing will be heard anyways. I always save my ideas to when the whole group is in silence, and when I say my ideas or plans, everybody acknowledges them because they have heard something. I grew up being a listener far more than I was a speaker. I used to take ideas from people who are more knowledgeable than I am, and analyze these ideas in my head, making them better, and then I use those modified ideas. Speaking all the time will destroy your creativity.
All the successful speakers have listened before they spoke, and now they have an ocean of wisdom, creativity, and knowledge, so they can speak confidently. Active listening is active learning, even if you heard something you already know, that is still learning because you might have forgotten a certain aspect about what you know, and now you know it again. I always advice my peers and everyone around me to listen carefully and then speak.
Bold Helping Others Scholarship
Helping others is my motto in life, it is my purpose, it is my everything. Unfortunately, many people these days are chasing their own happiness. They compete to go to parties, concerts, and to enjoy life. Yes, having fun and being happy is important, but if at least some of this happiness does not come from helping others, then your happiness is fake, and your life is purposeless. I have mentored bullied students at high school, and I volunteered at many different organizations in my area.
My favorite way to help others is by volunteering because I believe that volunteering is the best way to give back your community. When I tell my peers at college that my happiness comes through volunteering, they look at me like I am alien, because they think that volunteering is just something you got to do to put some extra hours on your application or resume. I see volunteering as the smile on a kid's face who lives in misery, as the joy of a family who was dipping bread with sugar when they have the desire to eat dessert or taste something sweet. When people around me are happy, that fuels my happiness and my motivation.
I am sure that I am far happier than a person that parties and enjoys life all the time because I have that feeling of fulfillment engraved in my heart and the feeling of being useful to others is far superior to the feeling of someone who is constantly enjoy life yet is useless to others. Before I began my volunteering journey, I used to feel so empty, I hated myself because I felt that I was useless to others, but now I am living with a purpose, and that makes me so happy.
Bold Music Scholarship
Don't Stop Believin’ by Journey inspires me more than anything else in this world. Even though it is just a song, it carries so much meaning because it says do not stop believing. I might be like that midnight boy who took the train going anywhere, yet I know what this train will take me to a magnificent place. These days, with all that negative attitude in our world, people stop believing in themselves simply because they didn't get a good grade, it is so easy to stop believing in yourself.
This song reminds me and the world that believing in yourself in truly worth it. Life can make a mess out of you, it can make you shake your head not knowing in which direction or path to go, but all you got to do is ride the train of hope, and that train will not let you down but you got to believe in yourself because there is no room for those who don't believe in themselves on that train, after all it is " The train of hope ". Every letter and every word of this magnificent song makes me feel so lighthearted, happy, motivated, and inspired. The small-town girl who took the midnight train, who was living in a lonely world by herself, is now about to encounter the love of her life, people, giggles, and joy is surrounding her, she has hope, she has one more reason to stay alive and to dream big.
Life always promises hope and inspiration. Life offers countless ways and opportunities to be happy, this song makes me count the blessings of life, it makes me get rid of negative thoughts I might have about life, and it gives me one more reason to be inspired.
Bold Love Yourself Scholarship
It is more depressing than ever that most people around the world don't love themselves, that is very shocking to read. I love the morality and kindness I have. I do not deny that I have a lot of reasons to hate myself but whenever I even think about that I look at myself in the mirror and say, " People love you, so don't even think about hating yourself ". When I remember the number of people that sincerely thanked me for being their hope and for improving their lives, hating myself becomes an impossible task.
There is a crisis about young people : They don't like themselves, which explains the skyrocketing rates of depression, anxiety, and suicide among young people. When you follow every single celebrity on Instagram and compare yourself to them, you will make yourself seem worthless because comparison is what fuels the lack of self-esteem. It is irritating that one could be highly talented yet dislike himself/herself because he/she might not be as talented as the person they follow on Instagram. If you check any of my social media accounts, you will never find any celebrity or ultra-rich person on my following list, because I simply do not care.
I know my worth more than anyone else does. I have mentored countless kids at my high school and changed their lives. I have served meals and assisted in packing food to countless families. I have always studied hard and exceled in my education, I have managed to overcome bullying and many other obstacles that were the path of my success, and I am continuing to do so. I always do my best to make people happy, and to make the world a better place. That is enough for me to love myself forever.
Bold Legacy Scholarship
My legacy that I am striving to leave in this world is morality. In our world today, we are facing a major crisis which is the lack of morality. Look around you, there is war, blood, corruption, theft, the murder rate is skyrocketing across the world too. More people are becoming unmoral and that makes me feel sad and deeply concerned about the future of morality in our world. If morality vanished in our world, killing, stealing, torture , corruption, and other bad things would become a norm in our world, and I do not want to live in such a world, which explains why I put so much effort to raise my moral voice and embrace morality once again in the world.
Rates of morality might differ from one country to the other, but we can all agree that the whole world is facing a morality crisis. My volunteerism is part of embracing morality as helping others is a form of morality and inspires other people to do good. Most people do not talk much about this disaster, because it has become a norm to hear horrible news about all kind of inhumane things happening in our world today. I always wonder why has our world became such a horrible place to live in, why do wars and murder even exist ? Why would you take the life of an innocent human being ? Why do you torture people ?, and the more I think about this, the sadder I become. That is why I raise my moral voice above everything else, we need a world with moral people who do good.
When I vanish from this world, I want future generations in the world to always remember me being as " the voice of morality ".
Bold Driven Scholarship
I plan to strive in the healthcare management field as I want to help as many people as I can. I have always had ethical concerns about the healthcare systems in hospitals and clinics in the country.
I am strongly driven and highly encouraged to achieve my dream because I believe in what I am striving for, and all it takes is to believe in yourself and to do the work.
I hope that kids with cancer whom their precious tears are watering the floors of hospitals will have my name engraved in their hearts. I want to make life better for them and I want their pain to heal forever. I might be dreaming about this right now, but I am very motivated and inspired that one day my dream will become fulfilled and turn into a reality.
Bold Passion Scholarship
I could not agree more that passion is what creates success. Survival is the typical biological definition of life, but life is much more than just surviving the day ! I am very, very passionate about helping others. From mentoring, to volunteering, to help people around me, I have showed great passion in helping other people. I have volunteered in different organizations such as North Texas Food Bank, East Plano Islamic Center, my college, my high school, and at many different places. I have also mentored bullying victims at my high school. That gives me happiness and a purpose in life that I am not able to find somewhere else.
When you do something without passion, you simply do it for the sake of getting away with it, but when you are passionate about something, you do it with love, you do it with a purpose and with immense happiness. I am also very passionate about writing; words cannot describe how much I love writing. At my current Federal Government course in college, I have got extraordinary feedbacks from my teacher about how great and superior my writing is compared to my peers. I thank my passion, because when I write, I enjoy it, I am passionate about it, which explains why I am great and successful at it.
Helping people and writing are two of my greatest passions which make me a better person. They have taught me that success needs passion, but to have passion, you got to love what you are doing, and if you do not love and enjoy what you are doing, you will never have passion. I strive to keep the flow going of helping others, writing, and other passions that I have, and I hope to have a positive impact on others.
Bold Acts of Service Scholarship
I constantly volunteer to help others. I am a strong believer of volunteerism and I always promote it to people around me. I have volunteered in many different organizations such as North Texas Food Bank, East Plano Islamic Center, my high school, and many other different places. I have assisted in packing food and all kind of necessities for people in need which made me feel much better about myself. One who is not willing to serve others does not deserve to have a room in earth. These days, selfishness is skyrocketing in the world. Many people these days care about themselves and do not even think about serving others.
My volunteerism has taught me that people need help. There are countless poor people out there who cannot afford their necessities, and other people are enjoying life in their mansions. That is not fair at all, and we need to serve people that are not as fortunate and privileged in life. My hard work in volunteerism has changed the life of many people, and it has fed people who were struggling to find food. The biggest impact was in East Plano Islamic Center because Muslims and Christians showed extraordinary unity in one of the main volunteering opportunities that had thousands of volunteers. We were united to serve poor people in our community and I was very proud because we showed the whole country how humanity unites people, because the human need is one.
I would say with full confidence that I would probably be a person living with depression, unfulfilled, and an unhappy person if it wasn't for the volunteering that I am doing. I always tell people " Volunteering gives me a purpose in life, without volunteering, I am nothing "
Bold Simple Pleasures Scholarship
Pleasure can be found in the simple things you do daily. I find pleasure in going with my dad every day to get iced coffee from a nearby coffee shop, from reading books while sitting on the lake, and from listening to some of my favorite songs/music before I go to sleep. Doing these things makes me so happy, and people often don't understand the immense happiness that I have from doing things that people find too small to talk about. I still remember that day when I was with my family in a vacation in California and I looked at my family and told them " I wish I was just with you all drinking my favorite iced coffee in our favorite coffee place near our home " My father was shocked and asked me " But, I have paid thousands of dollars for this vacation, how can you enjoy a 5-dollar coffee more than this ?! "
Sometimes, happiness does not have to cost thousands of dollars. Simple things can make a person happy, and one should never let go of those simple things. These simple things motivate me and makes my life better and make me a much happier person. Most people think that simple things don't bring happiness. Most people have told me that the more you spend money, the happier you become, and the greater the thing is, the happier you will become. I call that a mental issue that people inherently have.
Simplicity matters because when you learn to appreciate those simple things in your life, you will learn to appreciate the bigger things. For people who do not appreciate the simple pleasures, they will never find pleasure in bigger things because they are used to being unthankful.
Bold Independence Scholarship
Independence is freedom and dependency is subjugation. When you need people, you will need their sympathy too, and you will never achieve freedom because the people whom you are dependent upon can always control you as you are needy to them, and that is a reality. When you can get things done by yourself, when you are studying hard to get good grades, you are more likely to be respected by everybody. But if you are constantly failing in your studies and always in need of your classmates or peers to help you, you are more likely to be subjugated by others. I have heard countless stories from my mother about women who did not get a degree neither did they go to school, and they are fully dependent on their husband's money. The husband might not be that good of a person, so he might humiliate his wife when giving her money.
I am a full-time student striving to get good grades, and I do some work at home and get paid by my parents. I strive to do most of the things by myself, I rarely ask for help and even when I do, I learn that thing instantly so I would not have to keep asking for someone to do it for me every time. That saves my dignity and self-respect as people tend to always take advantage and use people who are always in need of their help, that is the sad reality of our world, you got to get things done by yourself, otherwise you will never taste the sweetness of freedom.
I always advice people around me to strive for their independency because that will make them happier people. People are not always willing to help you, so do it yourself !
Bold Dream Big Scholarship
I have always dreamt big since I was a kid. My dream for this world would be a world with no hunger, no wars or conflicts, no diseases, no pain and misery, no inequality/racism/or discrimination, a world that faces no global warming or climate injustice. I always wanted to make this country a better place, and other countries can take and implement the successful ideas as well, which in turn will make our world a better place. I have always been bullied and mocked about my dreams. Once, I was told by a classmate at school " Dude, let alone the world, I bet you can change this school into a better place, you are only one in 8 billion " People get so demotivated when they realize that they are only a tiny spot in this world, but trust me, you are making yourself tiny when you can be the voice of millions or even billions of people.
People are inherently irrational thinkers. Let me tell you a secret, we are all 1 in 8 billion. Jeff Bezos is 1 in 8 billion as well. Your hard work speaks for you, because if you dream big and work hard to make that dream come into a reality, you will become an influential and a famous person. People have always learned to dream small, go to school, get that degree, work a 9-5 job, and that's your life, you are no more than that.
Millions of people before us have achieved things which were seen impossible such as technology, airplanes, cars, internet, the light bulb, etc. These people could have never achieved what they have achieved if they thought in the same way most people think. It takes courage, hard work, and confidence to be a big dreamer.
Bold Mentor Scholarship
I have been bullied through my entire middle school years and some of my high school years. I have mentored bullied kids at my school in the 12th grade, the grade that bullying finally stopped for me and I was able to carry on my life normally. I always wanted to make an impact as I was a victim of bullying, and the victim of something can know the best about people's pain who are going through the exact problem. I helped about 100 students at my high school. One of these students, which I have maintained a friendship with once told me " I was so close to commit suicide because life was so dark and unispiring for me, but now, I have purpose, and I will always remember you for chaning my life from darkness to brightness " That statement made be feel so happy that I felt my heart is dancing and jumping out of joy.
Mentorship is such a great things, I always link it with volunteering. When you make a positive impact on others, that is what true happiness is. Happiness that comes from just having fun is temporary happiness. Before I had that mentorship rule, nothing used to fulfill me. A person that looks for fullfilment through going to concerts, parties, etc. is like a person running in a nowhere land trying to find a shopping center. That person will keep running, but he/she will never find that shopping center, and the person trying to find fullfilment through partying will never find fullfilment.
I am so proud of myself to have helped that much students get to brightness and leave their sad old days behind them. I strive to make a permanent impact of happiness on people's lives.
Bold Science Matters Scholarship
Genome editing is by far my favorite scientific discovery, I just love it ! It allows scientists to edit and modify genes to treat genetic illnesses which is very crucial. Some people might argue that this process is unethical, but my only response to them would be " Is it that doing nothing to help people who are living in misery and pain due to their genetic illnesses more ethical ? " Of course not. It is easy to criticize the morality of science and scientific discoveries until you acknowledge that it helps millions of people . There are over 6,000 genetic illnesses. Around 65% of people have some kind of health problem due to genetic mutations. The numbers are high, people are suffering, we need action.
Genome editing is still advancing, and it promises humanity with countless benefits. It promises humanity with cure. There might be some unethical aspects about this discovery because science is not perfect, but the goods outweigh the negativities in this discovery, and I am pretty sure that the ones criticizing it could and would not be able to do a better job helping people with genetic illnesses.
Genome editing will also prevent potential genetic illnesses. Some people face very severe genetic illnesses which is preventing them from carrying out their daily functions, others are impacted by mutations. More than half of the patients below the age of one have died because of genetic disorders which is truly sad and heartbreaking. Genome editing saves lives, and what can be more ethical than saving the life of a baby whose parents have struggled so much to give birth to that baby ?
I am very inspired by this scientific discovery, and I can't wait to see more people benefiting from it !
Bold Financial Literacy Scholarship
One could be a millionaire, and even a billionaire, but does that even matter when that person is financial illiterate ? Most students spend too much money on things which are not worth it and useful in the long-term run and spend too little on things that are useful and beneficial. That is what makes most students overwork themselves so much which kills their motivation to pursue their educational goals. For instance, I only work summer jobs and I am a full-time student succeeding in my education. I do receive some financial aid from my parents if I am productive at home too.
Most students at my college were so jealous of me and they always asked me " How can you manage not to have a job, how are you even alive ?, if we quit our jobs, we would vanish. " Well, it is not rocket science. If you invest wisely and not spend too much on getting the most recent phone or any form of luxury, you should be fine. I was shocked when I asked my fellow peers at college if they have investment accounts because most of them replied " No ". How much you make doesn't matter if you waste that money and that is contributing to the skyrocketing student debt across the nation. That is also leading to the skyrocketing rates of students dropping out across the nation which breaks my heart and has a horrible impact on the future of our country.
The most important finance lesson that I personally have it engraved it my heart is to invest wisely, spoil yourself less ( you'll have plenty of time to do that once you work with your degree ) and save for the unprecedented times.
Bold Memories Scholarship
I still remember that day back in 4th grade when my math teacher told me to come to the front of the class. I was worried and did not expect what was going to happen. She looked at me and then looked at everybody in the class and said " This kid will be a great person someday and I can guarantee that " I was a very polite kid, I always cooperated with my fellow classmates, I never took advantage of anybody in my class, and I was super shy and quiet back then. When my teacher said that my face turned so red and remembering this makes me feel shy until this moment. I thanked my teacher and as soon as I came home, I ran directly to my parent's room and yelled " Yaaay, I'm going to be a great person one day, " my happiness was immense and inexpressible, and my parents couldn’t feel prouder.
Whenever I feel down or depressed, I always remember this memory and my heart jumps of joy. I barely remember anything from my 4th grade at school, but this memory, I would never forget. Today, I am a full-time college student planning to transfer to a 4-year University and major in healthcare management. I have many surprises saved for my future to advance this field as much as I can ( I am so eager to do so ! ) and my whole life has changed, and I was greatly influenced by this statement. Sometimes, one experience in life can shape who you are today because once you got the experience, not even the whole world combined can demotivate you.
I wish I can thank my sweet-hearted teacher forever, but I hope to honor her by my achievements in life.
Bold Deep Thinking Scholarship
The time has come to eliminate wars from our world ! To get rid of wars and conflicts in our world, we need more creative thinkers. First thing, we need to find the roots behind the conflict. This can be done by talking to the leaders of the two or more sides of the war or conflict. The first question to ask is " What is wrong, what and why are you exactly fighting for ? " It is completely ridiculous and irrational to try to solve a conflict by doing a ceasefire, this will only make things worse. If we know the roots behind the conflict, we can solve the whole conflict easily without much effort.
Then, we need wise people from both sides to agree and to set fair rules. It would also be ridiculous if there was a peace agreement which has one " looser " and one " winner ", because the oppressed side or the side who lost will agree for peace because that side can't fight anymore, but that will only trigger the conflict and make it far worse than it was, we don't want to fuel anger and revenge. We must treat both sides equally.
Then, both sides must agree to end the conflict once and for all. We don't want to end the war " just for now " or temporary, because blood of innocent people is no joke. We must also hold war criminals accountable for their actions. If there is any innocent life lost in the war, the person (s) responsible shall be punished severely and get executed. The capital punishment shall specifically be made for war criminals, because if justice is not served, the pain of those affected will never heal, and the tensions would never end.
Bold Happiness Scholarship
Are people around me happy ? If yes, then I am happy. If no, then I am not happy. Happiness is not something physical and touchable, happiness is a state of mind. When I volunteer to serve those in need, I feel so happy because I know for a fact that I am contributing to the happiness of people who probably lost their happiness due to the misery they have gone through. Happiness is not about going to an amusement park or going with a bunch of friends on a road trip. That will make you excited first, then it will make you happy for a certain period, but once that period ends, you will lose your happiness.
In this life, I am not seeking temporary happiness. I would love to chill and have fun, but that is not what I define happiness to be. When I was volunteering once at my local religious organization with people from different religions, I was packing bags of food in the trunk of one of the cars, and the kids in the car ran and cried from happiness and hugged me. That moment is enough for me to stay happy for the rest of my life. I have made hungry children happy, these kids smiled and cried from happiness, what could possibly make me happier than that ?
When I was in school, I heard everyone saying how happy they were when they were on vacation or when they went to concerts or had a party in a friend’s house, etc. I always used to debate that these things don't bring infinite and permanent happiness. " I went to that concert, had fun, and it's done, now what ? " True happiness is the happiness of helping those in need.
Bold Perseverance Scholarship
I am a joyful and nice person. I always like to smile to everybody, I like to make people laugh, I like to keep the environment around me as positive as I can keep it. I hate when I see people around me having a bad day or feeling low. But sometimes life gets too tough and too difficult. There have been times where I was sad, I felt low, and I felt so bad that smiling to others seemed almost impossible. That is how life is, you won't feel the best every single day.
At high school, I had to deal with bullies who were tough and underachieving. I had to stand up firmly for myself every day, and sometimes I felt bad because I had a lot to stress about. That made it tough for me to preserve myself and keep that wide smile and goofy personality. But I promised myself that as long as I am breathing, nothing can keep me from being kind, nice, friendly, and helpful to others. You and only you can determine how will you shape your life. I continued being helpful and friendly to people around me with such a wide smile on my face !
I firmly believe that if one is too weak to preserve himself/herself, then life would be so meaningless. I could not have let life change who I am and what my values are. Life is all about consistency, if you are not consistent with your values, then your values will easily go down the drain, and they will never come back. Perseverance is identity, once you lose your identity, then you will lose everything about you, and your life will become depressing and dull, so preserve yourself !
Bold Optimist Scholarship
Optimism is a great word. I am proud to be an optimistic person. I have showed optimism in many situations in life. There have been many times in life where I felt down, there have been bad days that I faced in my life, but I never thought about giving up. Life has challenged me a lot, but I always remembered that I have goals in this life. As a person who served in countless volunteering organizations, along with being a very competitive person that always feels eager to compete, I cannot give up that easily, and I never will.
It is so easy to give up if you do not have any goals in life. But if you have goals in life, giving up will be out of the question. I realized that these difficult times would pass by. In high school, I was bullied by a few tough underachieving students. It was such a difficult challenge to deal with these bullies every single day and to stay focused on my studies and compete to get high grades. It even seemed impossible. But I had visionary in my mind. Most people in my situation will focus on fighting the bullies and their grades will immediately slip. I had wisdom in dealing with my bullies, and I managed to keep getting high grades and studying hard because I knew how magnificent will my future be, so why ruin my whole future because of some underachieving students who will probably be failures in the future ?
That has taught me to stay strong and motivated. I see life as a beautiful forest, this forest is very beautiful, yet it has poisonous flowers and weeds, I focus on the beauty of the forest because " Who cares about the poisonous flowers ?"
Bold Joy Scholarship
Joy is very important in life. Life would be totally purposeless without joy. Life was never about going to school or work, eating, and sleeping to stay alive. Life has a lot more to offer, it has joy and fun. Joy means everything to me because without joy, life would be dull, and when life is dull, there is no point of living anymore. Joy makes one feel fulfilled and happy in life.
I seek joy in life in every way I can. I always try to try out new things, go to new places, read new books, meet new people, and travel to new destinations. I cannot agree with the saying of " Old is gold ". The fact of the matter is " New is gold ", that makes more sense to me. For instance, if you have a favorite movie that you absolutely adore, but you watch that same movie repeatedly, wouldn't it be boring? It would. Since you have already watched the scenes and you know what exactly is going to happen, there is no joy in watching that movie again anymore. You will have to look for a new movie, and that is what I do for everything in my life, I always go out of my way to seek new adventures and try interesting new things in life.
Joy is also a part of your accomplishments. Even if I had a bad day, even if I failed my test, I always look back to that test I scored high in or that wonderful thing that I have achieved to boost my pride. Remember that the little things that happen in our daily lives can make such a major impact that it can make you enjoy life in every possible way.
Bold Longevity Scholarship
Longevity is a word not many people in this world are familiar with. To live longer, you do not need to be a gym shark or a vegetarian. If you are willing to eat healthy, exercise daily, then you are good to go. Some people tend to overcomplicate longevity too much. It is simpler than the word simple itself. If you limit your fast-food meals to once in a week and you do any kind of exercise daily or at least 5 days a week, if you avoid any hazardous activities such as tanning in the sun or using cancerous cremes on your body, if you stop smoking or better yet do not start, if you prioritize your mental and physical health above your hectic schedule, then you are increasing your chances of longevity.
I personally am a not a huge fan of gym, so I go cycling or play soccer instead. You can do something that you are passionate about and still get to brag about living a longer life. Also, avoid stress. Many people these days including super healthy people tend to stress themselves out throughout the day, stress is the silence killer because most people don't even see stress as a risk to their health, which is ridiculous.
Another thing to do for longevity is to choose your friends very wisely. If you surround yourself with toxic friends, you will constantly develop sadness and anxiety which will reduce your life expectancy - you do not want that. People have a major impact on your mental health, because logic says that you are what your friends or people around you are, so do not expect to have a bunch of toxic folks around you and count on a great mental health- it won't happen.
Bold Make Your Mark Scholarship
There is a difference between living and existing. When you exist, you would want to go to school, eat, and sleep, but when asked about your goals in life you would say " What? I thought my goals in life were to say alive " Whereas when you live, when you get asked about your goals in life you would immediately respond " Well, my goals in life are 1, 2, 3, etc. ".
I am from the " living " type of people. My volunteerism in several organization such as North Texas Food Bank, my local religious organization, my high school, and many other organizations give me a purpose in life, because life is not about staying alive (that is the biological meaning of life), but the actual meaning of life is to make a change or an impact on this world, you would want to make your family, friends, and your country or people proud of your accomplishments, wouldn't you?
I also plan to do the real impact once I get my degree in the Healthcare Management field. I want to improve the healthcare system in my local community as much as I can, then to the whole nation eventually, and from that point onwards, the whole world can take a successful example. People around the world are suffering due to horrible healthcare and unethical healthcare managers who care about cash more than they care about making an impact.
I want to ease the human suffering, because it is unfair that some people can have breakfast in their astonishing mansions with their full health and other people are having their breakfast from a trash can not knowing what kind of devastating disease they have. Until my last breath, I will battle to make an impact in this world.
Bold Caring for Seniors Scholarship
Elderly people are the backbone of society. It breaks my heart when I see how some young people treat old people and senior citizens. When I see an elderly person, I rush to kiss his/her head, hand, or both. I have taken many volunteering roles which indirectly involved assisting poor elderly people in my community with food and other necessities.
My grandmother is diagnosed with Alzheimer, and my grandfather has one of his legs amputated. My grandparents live overseas, so when I visit them, I take very good care of them and that makes me familiar about care for elderly people in my community, with hope that I will get involved with much more volunteering opportunities that involve improving the lives of elderly people in my community.
I feel that we owe elderly people. Just when I speak 5 minutes with my grandfather which is 90 years of age, I get goosebumps because the life experience he has is so deep and the wisdom has is enough to fill an empty sea with water (with a bit exaggeration). Now I can even relate more to the Japanese culture of bowing to elderly people, to show respect to their impressive wisdom and experience in a life we, young people, don't even have 1% of their wisdom or experience.
Back in high school, I served in an elderly volunteering site where I used to spend some time every week with elderly people in my community and take care of them, cook for them, make them laugh with my great sense of humor, and clean their houses. It was pretty fun to do that, old people are a treasure in our world, and we need to be very careful in dealing with them to preserve them, as we do for gold and treasure.
Bold Community Activist Scholarship
I helped pack boxes of food to people in need. It was a great honor for me to serve in one of the biggest organizations in Northern Texas. The impact was very high, we helped pack food that contributed to hundreds of thousands of meals and fed thousands of families across Northern Texas.
I helped put bags of food in the trunks of cars of people in need in East Plano Islamic Center. Most people in need were non- Muslims, we showed unity in that event as Muslims, Christians, and even Atheists were together helping in that event. Needless to say, the impact was great because we showed our fellow Americans that we all can be united in this country to help serve those in need and spread morality across this country
I also actively participated in packing blankets and clothes to be sent to needy refugees in camps during winter. I like to see smiles on other people faces and to do my part in contributing to the society, particularly those in need.
I helped serve hot meals to neighbors who were struggling financially back then due to the financial impact Covid- 19 had on people's lives. Some people lost their jobs due to Covid-19 and they were struggling with the bare minimum of food. I assisted in meal preparation with my mom, and I served some hot meals to families who were struggling financially at that time. The impact was magnificent as I could see the smile on children's faces who were hungry and hopeless.
Volunteering and community service are so valuable to me. They are the ultimate reason of my happiness and resilience in life.
Bold Climate Changemakers Scholarship
One thing we all need to acknowledge is that we all share one earth. Yes, we live in different countries, but why does it even matter when the whole world is facing the same problem? Climate crisis is not limited in one country or one region of the world only, if it were, it would be the responsibility of that nation and its people to solve that problem. Lately, the floods that have been happening everywhere in the world from Europe to China to Turkey to Canda to the United States and to many other countries are not a matter of coincidence. As a student, I raise awareness on social media to fight climate crisis. I also do give solutions such as cutting off plastic, driving less, planting more trees, eating less meat and many other solutions. This is a time where it is disastrous to say " All I care about is where I live, and other countries can go to hell " That is part of the human selfishness which might destroy our world. If you can't take a role in fighting climate crisis around the world, think about your future generations. Just this year, thousands of people have been killed or injured due to devastating floods, wildfires, winds, and heavy rain due to climate change, not to even mention the property damage. I urge people in my community not to wait and to act as soon as now, to sign a global petition demanding a global solution for the climate crisis, by urging people to spread awareness on their own social media too so it can spread to as many people as possible. I also volunteer in all the arbor and tree-planting events for a greener, healthier and more sustainable future for our beautiful earth.
Bold Books Scholarship
High Achiever by Tiffany Jenkins. That story was about her suffering from drug addiction. She was a drug addict and she even got arrested for doing something she could not have survived without doing every hour. She was so bad at this that she needed drugs every single hour of the day. She had to pay for something that led to her arrest, and that is beyond devastating. But that whole darkness in her life has changed into brightness. She became a high- achiever, and a public speaker too. She is now married to her boyfriend, which is a sheriff deputy, and she has children too. When I read about the pain she has passed through, it breaks my heart yet gives me a lot of inspiration. She even had to perform sexual acts with her dealer for drugs, on her knees she mourned the loss of her dignity and that she is no more than a junkie whore. When she was in jail, she even tried to commit suicide as a way to escape this painful world. But guess what, her story did not end here. She used the money inherited from her mother to pay off her rehabilitation bills, which helped her get back on the path of recovery. When I look at my past, even though there are some dark eras, such as having a car accident a while ago, but these are all minor things compared to what the author has gone through. My past wasn't the greatest, but at least I did not turn into a slave for drugs nor I am a suicide survival. When I read her book, I realized that this life is like a dark tunnel. You will need to go through darkness to reach the brightness.
Bold Art Scholarship
Washington Crossing the Delaware. This piece of art gives me inexpressible goosebumps and inspiration because it shows the bravery of the American soldiers back then who fought and died for the sake of shaping a country, we live in today. These soldiers died back in December 1776, these soldiers along with George Washington were planning to attack an isolated garrison of Hessian troops located at Trenton, New Jersey. This piece of art inspires me because I live in a country where I take my freedom for granted, I have not even fought or done anything to deserve that freedom, not me and not anyone living in this country regardless of their US citizenship status or their generation status (If they are US- born). When I feel that I am too lazy to study or struggling with motivation to get high grades and study hard, I look at this piece of art and tell myself " These brave men sacrificed their own lives for the sake of freedom and liberty, without having their eyes blink twice, so it won’t be as tough if I sacrificed some dedication and studied " You can see the old American flag being held by these men as they are sailing in the cold water to reach the shores of the enemy. Many people living in this country today aren't willing to sacrifice their own lives and go through an unknown path to keep their freedom (Let us be honest to ourselves), but these men have not gained Independence yet, they were seeking a path of the unknown, and they managed to gain victory over the British troops in such a glorious battle. When I look at this piece of art, I feel that I can do anything fearlessly.
Bold Loving Others Scholarship
Love is a gift given to humanity. Love is what makes a person feel welcomed or rejected in a society. These days, love is not very common, and it breaks my heart when I see hate in this country or even in any other country in the world. I always smile to my family and friends; I always make people around me feel welcomed. For instance, one day at school I was exhausted because of the insomnia I have, I had to stay up all night, so I basically had a sleepless night, and I wasn't really in a great mood at that day, one of my peers in class approached me and asked me " I need your help after school for the biology quiz tomorrow, are you willing to help me ? " As I have always excelled in Biology. With a wide smile on my face, I told him " Of course, man ! It would be my pleasure to do so ! ". The reason I said that is because if I showed him a lame face, I would make him feel hated and unwelcomed, which I do not want to happen. From my personal experience, I would say that when I am around a group of people who love me, I feel that I am so productive, but when I am around a group of people who dislike me or make me feel unwelcomed, I feel so down and unproductive. For instance, if one is in the best company in the world, yet that person feels unwanted or disliked by his/her manager or coworkers, I can bet that this person's productivity is far less than a person's productivity who is a company where he/she feels loved and welcomed, regardless of which company is better.
Bold Investing Scholarship
Investing takes the heart of the Lion to succeed in. When you invest your money, you cannot take it for granted that the amount of money you invested would boost. You might lose as much as every single dollar you invested. I started investing as soon as I became legal ( at 18 ). I do not have a job as I am a full-time student, but I used to help my family by working at home and help performing day to day tasks at home ( and I still do ), so my parents support me by paying me for that. 70% of that money goes into investment, and 30% goes to spoiling myself a bit. As soon as I made my first 50 dollars, I immediately invested that money into my stocks account. The next day, I lost 5 dollars, and I continued to see a declining red graph for a whole week. I was a bit sad and frustrated, but I did not even think about giving up. I even invested the next 50 dollars I earned into my stocks account, but as days past, I started gaining money, and the overall change to this date is a gain, and I am so proud of myself, not for the money I have gained, because it is just a few dollars. I am proud of my fearlessness. My father once told me " Son, if you will show a bit of fear and cowardice in investing, you will stay poor for the rest of your life " I started feeling goosebumps after this statement. I took this statement and engraved it in my heart. If rich people lacked the courage, they would have drowned in the misery of poorness !
Bold Learning and Changing Scholarship
I always believed in the quote saying that you need to change things by yourself, because time will not do that for you. I have always loved playing soccer; it is my hobby since years. I always play soccer for fun, but I never even thought that this could be one of the talents I have. I used to play soccer with some school friends, or even with my cousins, or my sister. I always self-doubted myself about being able to play soccer at my school club because I always had these constant thoughts stuck in my mind that I need to be professional to be able to join my school club. But one day I asked myself while looking at the mirror " who said that I am not good enough to join the soccer team at my local high school ? " I knew for a fact and with no doubt that these players were not more talented than I am. So, I finally decided to sign up for the soccer team at my local high school. I was so nervous and fearful of rejection; I couldn't sleep the night I applied to the scholarship in. But the next morning, I was shocked to see an official letter of acceptance to join the team emailed directly to me. I couldn't keep my excitement to I went directly to my parents to shout out the good news ! I have learned that life is too short to doubt yourself. Always believe in yourself, because people who are at higher levels than you are, whether in sports, or anywhere else, are not better than you, NEVER. These people probably put in more effort than you did, so put in the effort and you will succeed !
Devin Chase Vancil Art and Music Scholarship
I do believe that art and music improve society and makes the society more peaceful. This world is full of hate, wars, conflicts, and many other bad things. People around the world cannot catch a break from the immense hatred. Music and art are a gift to humanity, that is why I am more thankful than ever to the contributions of art and music to our society and our world. They make life more entertaining. One could be depressed or in a bad mood, but music is so magical that it heals sadness in a matter of seconds. For instance, there have been many times in life where I felt down. I didn't feel like myself, so I listened to music, and my whole mood changed in a matter of seconds, I could not even hide the wide smile on my face.
Art is a gift of creativity to humanity. I always spends a whole night of painting and drawing along with my highly- talented sister when I feel empty. My emptiness eases so quickly after I start drawing, then I even look at my sister and ask her " Why do I feel so fulfilled when I was feeling so empty just 5 minutes ago ? " Well, my sister looks at our drawings without the need to say anything further. It is that magic that makes one feel fulfilled and purposeful in life. Not just that, but that is a source of income for me and my sister as well. Every month, me and my sister sell our astonishing paintings and drawings for reasonable prices, and we get some money out of that, and that is our only source of income for now. So not only art brings me peace, fulfillment, and easiness, but it also brings me some cash !
Music creates love. When I feel that I am about to get into an argument with someone, I ask that person if he/she wants to listen to some music with me, and I even do that with my sister and other family members too. People think I am weird, but the fact of the matter is that my whole heart jumps of joy when I listen to music, and all I feel is that I want to hug the person next to me. Music fights hate, believe it or not ! Many people cannot express their feelings or thoughts, so they express it through music. For instance, one could be suffering from the pain of love, and the best way to do that is to sing, that alone will make the person feel less bad about a breakup or the failure of love or any other thing. I do believe that music is so powerful and influential that it could prevent wars, only if people appreciated music !
When it comes to art, think about the mind-blowing arts that were sold for millions or billions of dollars. Why would art become so valuable if it wasn't so important ? Art is a whole field of indefinable and endless imagination, one might think about the stars, moon, or any extraordinary thing and it can all be expressed through drawing. Words are never enough to express my gratitude to art and music, I am so happy that they exist in our world today, because with no doubt I believe that our country and the whole world would have been so dull without art and music.
Bold Be You Scholarship
I always confess anything unpleasant I may have done during my day. I hate being too fake and fool myself about things that are never going to happen or that are too far from reality. For instance, if I saw a girl that I thought is ideal for me to be in a relationship with her, I talk to myself and question the possibility of thoughts. If my thoughts are too irrational, I automatically eliminate these thoughts from my mind because I won't allow myself to get fooled for something that is closer to imagination than reality. Another example would be if I tried doing something that I know I suck at, yet I tried 10 times and failed, I would speak the truth to myself by saying " You really should try something you are better at ". I do not say this because I am a failure, but because I do not want to keep myself stuck forever in something I know I am not YET capable of doing , so I head on toward things I am better at, and I compete as hard as I can to perform the best at what I can do. I learn to love myself instead of loving some imaginary person that might already be in a successful relationship and not waiting for me. Some people might hate on themselves, but I always look myself at the mirror and say " Believe in yourself, Love Yourself, and dare the day to challenge you ! " When one learns to trust and believe in himself/herself, if the whole world's superpowers were to try to reverse that person from succeeding and moving forward, they would FAIL !
Bold Turnaround Story Scholarship
I grew up with social anxiety. It was not an easy journey for me, I had to face a lot of hardships and criticization from my peers, teachers, and friends. When I was in school, my teachers did not understand that I was not as socially capable as my peers, so I used to face criticism because I did not perform in group projects and public speaking. But I never thought about giving up or letting my great talents go down the drain. I had a plan, I used to practice public speaking daily for several hours. My parents were very supportive of me, and they used to give me hope and motivation which made me feel even better about my goal. I eventually got better, and I finally got to see the real results as I worked harder than ever to overcome my social and public anxiety. I did not fully overcome social anxiety as it is untreatable condition, but I got far better. As a sophomore in college ( which is my current year ), I saw unprecedented results when it came to public speaking. I was far more confident than I was in high school, I joined multiple organizations and became an active member, and I got to meet new people and speak to them which I never dared to do back in school. I told my story to one of my professors, and she was shocked, she was like " How is it even possible to change that much in a matter of less than 2 years ? " That statement made me even prouder of my accomplishments, words are never enough to express the gratitude to my hard work, patience, and to my parent's amazing support for getting through all this.
Bold Impact Matters Scholarship
I always try to have a positive impact on the world by contributing to people around me. I hate just being a number in my country or in the world. I always go above and beyond and perform my best to make people around me happy, to make an influence, to change something that I simply don't like. I am currently a full-time student, and my hobbies involve writing. I write about crucial topics that many people do not even pay deep attention to. I also do a lot of research in my intended major to prepare to maximize my productivity when I finally get my bachelor's degree and start working in my intended major. I have participated in several volunteering events such as volunteering at North Texas Food Bank to help serve those in need. I assisted in packing boxes of food and even took a role to lead my team which was me and 3 others. I also volunteered at my local religious organization to pack food and other necessities and put them in trunks of people's cars who were struggling financially due to the severe impact of Covid-19. We showed extraordinary unity of Muslims and Christians to show our fellow Americans that we can be united in this country to help those in need regardless of race, national origin, religion, etc. I performed the best I can during all my volunteering opportunities because I am always very eager to utilize my time to achieve as much as I can in a timely manner. Being the hope of those who lost hope is my biggest dream that I work hard to pursue.
Jameela Jamil x I Weigh Scholarship
Allyship is what makes our country and our world great. Not long ago, at my local college, I saw a Muslim girl wearing the hijab being asked whether she loves America or not by a White student. Both girls were students. I stood to hear the conversation. The Muslim girl told the other White girl that she was born in the USA to immigrant parents and that she sees herself as a part of this country too. The White American girl did not harass or insult the Muslim American girl but told her that you Muslims seem to be too un-American and that one cannot be American if he/she is Muslim because the White girl claimed that Islam as a religion hates America and its people. The Muslim girl was shocked and told her that American Muslims are patriotic too even though they are most likely to be immigrants or children of immigrants. I finally stood up for the Muslim girl not because she was from my faith, but because I do firmly believe in equality and human dignity.
I respectfully and politely asked the White girl why she thinks like that. The White girl told me clearly that she thinks Muslims are terrorists and that they are responsible for the 9/11 attacks. I told her that what she said broke my heart because there are many Muslims today living in America who were born on this land and that is their first country. I also informed her than American and non- American Muslims are not responsible at all for any kind of terrorism that happened in America or internationally. Even though I am not religious, but I still informed her about Islam as a faith and how peaceful Islam is. I even showed her verses from the Quran and other Islamic authentic hadith that forbids Muslims from killing any soul whatsoever and that the punishment for doing so was eternal hellfire. I also reminded her about the extraordinary contributions American Muslims have done to this country.
I insisted on reminding her than one could be Muslim and American and that there is no good is ripping off the American dignity from American Muslims. I told the Muslim girl to stay calm, respectful, and I asked her if she was okay and/or if she needed any help from me. The Muslim girl looked fine apparently. The white girl was shocked by the overwhelming proofs I have provided to her about the irrelevance of Islam to terrorism. I even showed her a video captured from a local mosque in the area showing thousands of volunteers Muslims and Christians united packing food and other supplies to distribute it to the homeless people in our area. After that whole conversation has taken place, the White girl told me that she would re-consider her thoughts about Muslims in the future. She was honest and told me that she needs time to consider her future thoughts about Muslims and that at least she will now consider changing her thoughts about Islam and Muslims in America and worldwide. That highly impacted me by making me fulfilled, happy, satisfied, because I stood up for an oppressed person. That Muslim girl could have experienced a whole bad day simply because of that incident, but after I got the two girls to shake hands, hug each other, and wish each other a good day, I am pretty sure that this made a huge impact on that girl's mental health and mood. I can never express how happy I was after that incident.
Diabetes Impact Scholarship
My major is healthcare management. That is a combination of both healthcare and business. Using my healthcare skills, I will try my best and go out of my way to create new methods of treatment for people that have chronic autoimmune conditions. I will use every skill I know to contribute to a better tomorrow for everyone suffering from chronic autoimmune conditions. I will also cooperate and work with experts in the medical field to come up with the most efficient and effective treatment possible for those suffering from chronic autoimmune conditions. I might not have the best knowledge in chronic autoimmune conditions, but I will not let that prevent me from doing the best I can to find a permanent cure for that disease.
