I aspire to have a successful and fulfilling career in Physical Therapy. This was not always something I wanted to do, but I found a passion for it. Some of my hobbies include, but are not limited to, drawing, listening to music, and working out. I’ve worked a number of entertainment, cleaning, and food industry jobs to support my education thus far. If nothing else hey have taught me that I should not take my education for granted because while they are respectable jobs, I don’t envision myself working in such industries for the rest of my life. I will utilize my education as a gateway to a career that I love and am proud of.

I am Nijeria Moore and, like most of humanity, I have endured hardship. Ultimately, it is vital to respond wisely and grow from the difficulties we face. I happen to be experiencing hardship as write this essay. College is supposed to be this wonderful time of a young adult’s life in which they are excited to pursue their dreams. Unfortunately, I am more anxious and desperate than ever.
The stress of not having the funds to pay for college and the need I feel to do everything on my own is so great that it has deprived me of the joy of starting a new chapter of my life. I must admit, I am quite stubborn and I feel the need to make sure that I am not in debt to anyone. Asking for help isn’t easy for me. I’ve always been someone who’s needed financial assistance but even when offered, accepting it isn’t easy either. The fear of people perceiving me in a negative way based off of my neediness, had caused me to block or mishandle quite a few blessings.
While I realize these things about myself it doesn’t help much unless I actually do something about it in response .
I dream of being a successful individual that can hold my own one day and give back to my community. Thus far, it has been an uphill battle. My response, however matters much more than my hardship. I have become closer to God been before. In doing so I realize that it is tragedy and hardship that sometimes keeps us in the safety of his arms. My response to my hardship has been prayer and opening myself up to others, despite my fear of doing so.
As I experience difficulty moving forward , I am proud to say that my relationship with my creator demonstrates Agape love. I’ve been through better and worse than I am right now, and it is His selflessness and unconditional love that has kept me on the right path.
Others might respond to a difficult period in their lives by giving up or deviating from his righteous plan for us; I’ve done so before. However I’ve come to know however that God is great. He’s been good to me even when I can’t see. He’s blessed me time and time again even when I didn’t thank him for the first time. He’s lended me a helping hand even when I rejected it. So despite my hardship and struggle I will continue to pray and praise him. I choose righteousness and I choose not to let my failure or sorrow shadow what He has done for me up until this point. Furthermore, I will not let it shadow what he intends for me in the future.
I am in the process of overcoming my trial. I will continue to show Him and others Agape love. I will continue to share His grace with others. Most importantly, I will overcome my trial because I know I have the only being who can fully embody Agape love on my side.
Ken Larson Memorial Scholarship
I knew I wanted to be a physical therapist as soon as I touched the field. I was a student athletic trainer in high school. Why not athletic training then? It’s simple, the impact of recovery and easing someone’s pain is unmatched in comparison to any other career; this remains true for both the party who may be injured and the professional who sought to help them. I am passionate about physical therapy because I will not only be able to help others rehabilitate, but I will also enjoy doing so for a life time.
I have always been very open to aiding others and I first found an opportunity to do so during my freshman year of high-school. I joined my school’s student-athletic training program just to get in to football games for free, at first. I thought I would be a lawyer or doctor that operates on people. The highest paying jobs with the most stress is what I thought I should do to maintain good life. However, I discovered that I truly enjoyed helping others in the physical sense.
Not everything is about money though, just being apart of something bigger than myself was enough for me to change the notions I previously had regarding my career choice. My experience in school has taught me many valuable life skills which makes me so grateful to be able to pursue my education in this field of study. For example, community, care, and support has taken on a new, deeper meaning to me after 4 years of being a part of my school’s AT team; thanks to this, I developed an adoration for helping others recover to the best versions of themselves.
For one individual, a broken leg could mean the end of their career, so I take pride in the possibility of me saving their career by utilizing my passion in my work.
Anatomy itself has always been easily comprehensible and memorable for me. The movement of the body is, in a word, miraculous. Learning about the body and its process and structures comes naturally to me. In lieu of that, I am so passionate about PT because I have the skills to succeed and make further achievements in this field of healthcare. After all, whom among us doesn’t want a career which they are truly happy to be working in? I look forward to the day when I will be excited to wake up and go to work.
Regardless of old or young patients and used or brand new limbs, I aspire to be the person that people can rely on for physical ailments. I aspire to be a medical professional that can nurse the community which nursed me to the person I am today. I am passionate about PT because it means more to me than a means to make an income. It means that I can make a difference in this world no matter how minor it may seem.
