"To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee is a literary masterpiece that holds a unique place in the world of literature, and I believe that everyone should read it at least once in their lifetime. This novel possesses a universal relevance and offers valuable lessons that practically transcend fiction. First and foremost, "To Kill a Mockingbird" addresses essential themes that are as relevant today as they were when the book was first published in 1960. The novel tackles issues of racial prejudice, social injustice, and moral growth. Through the character of Atticus Finch, it teaches us about the importance of empathy and standing up for what is right, even in the face of overwhelming odds. These are enduring lessons that can guide individuals in their personal lives and in their interactions with the world. Furthermore, the book provides a window into a particular period of American history, the Deep South during the 1930s, while also highlighting the broader challenges of inequality and discrimination that persist in various forms globally. It encourages readers to reflect on the complexities of society and human nature, fostering a deeper understanding of the world around us. "To Kill a Mockingbird" also offers unforgettable characters who resonate with readers. Scout Finch, with her innocence and curiosity, allows us to see the world through the eyes of a child, while Atticus Finch serves as a moral compass, showing us the importance of integrity and courage. These characters leave a lasting impact, prompting readers to consider their own values and actions. In conclusion, "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a timeless literary classic that offers profound insights into the human condition and the societal challenges we face. Its themes of justice, empathy, and moral growth make it a book that can inspire and educate people of all ages and backgrounds. Reading this novel is not just an act of literary exploration, but an opportunity to reflect on our shared humanity and the ongoing quest for a more just and compassionate world. It is a book that has the power to change lives and perspectives, and for this reason, I believe everyone in the world should read "To Kill a Mockingbird" at least once.
      Youth Civic Engagement Scholarship
Becoming the Vice President of Elected Contact at Lightridge High School’s political club Bolt PAC is an opportunity that promises to deepen my engagement with civic matters in not only my area of Loudoun County, but across the entirety of the DMV area and other parts of the country. This leadership role will not only enhance my understanding of the political landscape but also empower me to actively participate in shaping the community around me. Holding the position of Vice President of Elected Contact will require me to stay informed about local, regional, and national political developments. To effectively liaise between Bolt PAC and elected officials, I will need to research policy issues, track legislation, and monitor political trends. Particularly with the Virginia elections coming up near this year’s end, I can ensure that our club will work diligently to lobby as many running candidates as possible about our favored policies. Building relationships with local officials is a crucial aspect of civic engagement. As Vice President of Elected Contact, I will have the opportunity to meet and communicate with these leaders regularly. This not only enhances my understanding of their roles but also allows me to convey the concerns and priorities of our club and the broader community. I have also gone out of my way to befriend numerous members of the United States Senate Page program, to a place where they would be willing to share my policies with elected officials that they have corresponded with. Through these interactions, I can become a bridge between my peers and those in power, facilitating a more open and responsive political system. Furthermore, the responsibilities of this role will require me to organize online events, workshops, and meetings involving elected officials. These activities can serve as valuable platforms for community members to engage directly with their representatives. In doing so, I will be fostering a culture of civic participation within my area. This proactive approach to engagement will empower individuals to voice their opinions, ask questions, and hold elected officials accountable. It's through these initiatives that I can contribute to a more informed and active citizenry. Additionally, as Vice President of Elected Contact of Bolt PAC, I will be tasked with mobilizing our club's members for volunteer work, campaigns, and community outreach efforts. By encouraging others to participate in these activities, I can amplify the impact of our collective efforts. Engaging in local campaigns and volunteering for community service projects will provide me with hands-on experience in addressing real-world issues, from voter registration drives to neighborhood improvement initiatives. This practical involvement will deepen my sense of responsibility toward my area, instilling a stronger commitment to civic engagement. In conclusion, serving as the Vice President of Elected Contact at my school's political club offers a promising pathway to becoming more civically engaged in my area. This role will equip me with knowledge, connections, and practical experience that will enable me to actively participate in local politics and contribute to the betterment of my community. By staying informed, building relationships with elected officials, organizing civic events, and mobilizing fellow citizens, I can play a vital role in promoting civic engagement and making a positive impact in my area.

My goal, particularly with education, is to live a life doing things that I enjoy. Particularly when it comes to income, I aim to be able to give copious amounts to those who need it. Little joy in life comes from spending extravagantly; rather, it comes from thinking about others and doing more for others than yourself. It’s because of this that I try to do more in life so I can give more. Through my journey of my career, I intend to pour my passion, skills, and insights into the lives of others, helping them succeed and thrive in various aspects of their lives. One of my core beliefs is that education should be a personalized experience. I plan to pour into the lives of others by offering tailored mentoring and guidance once I am older and in a stable job. By understanding the unique strengths, weaknesses, and aspirations of each person, I aim to provide targeted support that helps them overcome challenges and embrace opportunities. Whether it's assisting a struggling student with their coursework or advising a young entrepreneur on their startup, I am committed to being a source of wisdom and encouragement. In addition to one-on-one mentoring, I am passionate about creating innovative educational initiatives that cater to diverse learning styles. I recognize that traditional approaches to education may not resonate with everyone, and I am determined to bridge that gap. Through workshops, seminars, and online platforms, I intend to share knowledge in engaging and interactive ways. I hope to empower learners to explore subjects with curiosity and enthusiasm, ultimately igniting a lifelong love for learning. Moreover, inclusivity will be at the heart of my educational endeavors. In a world that is becoming increasingly interconnected, it is imperative to celebrate diversity and provide equal opportunities for all. I hope to create safe and welcoming spaces where individuals from different backgrounds can come together to learn, collaborate, and grow. By fostering an environment where diverse perspectives are valued, I hope to nurture a sense of belonging and inspire individuals to achieve their full potential, irrespective of societal barriers. Furthermore, I recognize the power of networking and community-building in today's interconnected world. As I advance in my education of BIT, I aim to build a strong network of like-minded individuals who share the same passion for making a positive impact. By collaborating with fellow students, educators, and professionals, I intend to amplify the reach of my efforts and create a ripple effect of positive change. In conclusion, my future education isn’t just a personal pursuit; it’s a commitment to creating a better world through empowerment and education. Through personalized mentoring, innovative educational initiatives, and a dedication to inclusivity, I hope to touch the lives of others in profound ways. By uplifting individuals and fostering a culture of continuous learning, I am confident and optimistic that my journey will contribute to a brighter and more promising future for generations to come.

The duty of each and every person on Earth is to do their best to leave the planet better than the state in which they entered it. While circumstances differ, the sense of duty exhibited by the Greatest Generation, combined with the resilience and determination of today's youth, may very well suggest the potential for Millennials-Gen Z to become "The Greatest Generation 2.0." The Greatest Generation navigated the Great Depression and World War II, showing admirable strength and unity in the face of adversity. Their acceptance of burdens and commitment to duty propelled them to make transformative changes. In contrast, Millennials-Gen Z have inherited an economically uncertain world burdened by issues like student debt, climate change, and a skewed healthcare system. Despite these challenges, they exhibit enthusiasm and a desire to participate actively in shaping their future. This is comparable to the original Greatest Generation. The younger generation's polite and kind nature, along with their willingness to tackle problems, contrasts with the resentment observed in some older members of society. This disparity could stem from a mix of factors, including differing societal expectations, technological exposure, and evolving values. The younger generation's absence of resentment likely contribute to their open-mindedness and willingness to collaborate, qualities that bode well for addressing complex issues. The call of duty embraced by Millennials-Gen Z is evident in their acknowledgment of pressing challenges like global warming and economic disparities. Their inclination to find innovative solutions, often rooted in technology and a global perspective, reflects their proactive approach to societal issues. The comparison between the Greatest Generation and Millennials-Gen Z highlights both differences and similarities in their respective challenges and attitudes. The younger generation's enthusiasm, open-mindedness, and willingness to confront complex problems suggest a promising trajectory. If supported and guided appropriately, Millennials-Gen Z have the potential to become a force for positive change, akin to "The Greatest Generation 2.0.”
