My goal is to bring my army combat medic training to the nursing profession. I want to be able to help not only patients but also fellow nurses in trauma medicine and high-stress situations. I enjoy teaching and learning new skills to better myself every day. By becoming a nurse I feel like I can positively help so many people. Right now I work at encompass rehabilitation Hospital as a wound-care tech and also the chairman for professional practice. I can relate to so many patients through the military experience and I feel like that impacts their recovery positively. Even if they are not my patient I always stop to talk and encourage the patients. I feel that nursing is not just treating the injury, but also treating the mental health of the person with the injury. By helping and teaching people that a strong mind-body connection is a must I help patients recover. This approach impacts everyone around the patient. The mentally strong patient will have a positive impact on the nursing staff, which will carry over to the next. My goal is to receive my master's and become a Nurse practitioner in a trauma Hospital. I will combine everything I have learned to become the best nurse I can be and treat patients in a happy, well-mannered way.
