Bio

Hello! My name is Nazifa Rahman, a senior at J.R. Tucker High School. During the summer of my sophomore year, I interned at Captial One and worked to implement Agile/Scrum methodology in middle school classrooms while also volunteering for Capital One Coders. I am a high school participant in the Society of Women Engineers at UVA. I plan to further my education at the University of Virginia where I intend to major in computer science. I established the Girls Who Code club at my high school after recognizing the lack of CS exposure within our student body. I served as the President of GWC and have paved the way for many students at my school to participate in computer science events and helped our school to add AP CS courses to our curriculum! Now, during my senior year, I am serving as the Vice President of our newly founded Computer Science Honor Society and reaching out to both elementary and middle schools to share my love of code. I am one of the co-founders of the Parity Project, a non-profit organization aimed to spread awareness about social injustice and raise money to support the causes such as the Uyghur Human Rights Project. Extending my service within social justice, I am one of the few Equity Ambassadors at my high school serving our community. I am an officer of three honor societies. I tutor students for AP Chemistry and help students internationally through SOAR (Student Online Assistance for Refugees). I am a QuestBridge College Prep Scholar and National College Match Finalist!
