I am extremely hard working and academically focused. I am pursuing a degree in history with a public and digital concentration, along with a degree in French, with the hopes I can work in a museum doing curation or archives. While being a full time student, I effectively manage my time to also allow me to work as a Martial Arts instructor for an average of 15 hours a week. I am highly committed to everything I do.

I have learned that patience is critical, and growth is not linear. It is important to take one day at a time. There are always going to be setbacks and obstacles we face. If we allow those to block our way, we are never going to overcome them.
One of the largest obstacles I have had in my life so far has been back surgery. I believe that martial arts was one of my greatest resources in helping me cope. Martial arts gave me patience during the difficult time of recovery. It has taught me that nothing will happen automatically and without hard work. That is true in all aspects of life.
There are also days when you may feel you are making progress, then one day it all feels lost. Martial arts has taught me that that is not a time for frustration. Instead, it is the time to step back and take a break for a moment. Assess the situation. Instead of trying to struggle through, it may be something where it would be better to leave for another day and come back with a clear mind.
Martial arts has allowed me to take a new approach to life. It has allowed me to see from a new perspective that has ultimately improved my life inside and outside of martial arts. It has taught me that failure is not a bad thing, and it is important to be patient, for hard work takes time.
