Bio

My name is Nathaniel Arnold and I have been a car enthusiast ever since I could remember. I have always enjoyed learning about cars and the latest technology and stats. I enjoy going to cars and coffee events with my Mom, who actually initiated my love of cars, by taking me to Nascar events and Monster Jams. I am very excited to learn more about the latest diagnostic technologies and it is my intention to give back to my community through education.

    Brayden Blankley Memorial Scholarship
At an incredibly early age, my mother asked, "What do you want to be when you grow up?". My response was a race car driver. She smiled and made suggestions that were much safer. I made car sounds as if I were a car my entire childhood as I played but, my mother never discouraged me from that initial dream. My mother later said when I told her I would pursue becoming a mechanic..."Oh thank God!" She could have discouraged me from my dreams early in life but, she instead nourished them by taking me to monster jam shows and car meets. She found herself enjoying the time we spent together, as I started educating myself on cars and engines and becoming more determined to materialize my dream by applying to an automotive trade school, with the hopes of becoming an expert mechanic. I too share in Brayden's desire to attend a trade school. College has long been seen as the pinnacle of educational achievement, associated with prestige and broader opportunities and pathways to high-earning careers. While this traditional route may work well for many, it overshadows the immense value of trade schools, which offer specialized training for in-demand, hands-on careers. Trade school equips students with practical skills, allowing them to enter the workforce faster and often with less debt. This is my hope, especially in today's economy. To whom much is given, much is expected, and I believe that with my whole heart. I would love to receive this scholarship, created to honor the legacy of Brayden. I want to create a legacy that includes giving back and paying forward what I have received. It would be an honor and my responsibility to carry forward the spirit with which this opportunity represents. Turning loss into an opportunity to empower others is a gift for which I am grateful. I am looking forward as I start trade school, to understanding the automotive industry in depth, as I begin to learn how every component works in harmony, from the roar of a powerful engine to the precision of modern technology. I consider myself to be a car enthusiast and for us, cars are more than transportation; they represent freedom, creativity and connection between tradition and innovative advancements. This passion is what drives my commitment to learning, improving, and contributing to an evolving industry, while honoring its storied past. My choice has been to utilize trade school to assist in this journey of turning passion into skill, ambition into action, and a dream into a lasting career.

There are phenomenal advances, particularly onboard diagnostics, and software that I look forward to learning more about. I hope to develop foundational knowledge of self-driving technology and AI-based control systems. However, my love for old classic muscle cars and their raw power, timeless design and nostalgic charm is what I dreamed of as a kid. To whom much is given, much is expected, and I believe that with my whole heart. I would love to receive this scholarship, created to honor the legacy of Tim Williams and his love for cars and spreading his knowledge, with patience and dedication. Driving under the influence is not only illegal but is is profoundly irresponsible and ethically wrong. It endangers the lives of the driver, passengers and others on the road. From a moral perspective, choosing to drive while impaired shows a blatant disregard for the well-being of others. It violates the ethical duty to respect others' rights to safety and life. The moral implications are severe because DUI can lead to accidents causing injury or death, inflicting immense pain and loss on innocent people and their families. From a technical standpoint, DUI affects a person's ability to operate a vehicle safely. Alcohol and drugs impair reaction time, coordination, and judgement, which are crucial for safe driving. Technologically, the presence of alcohol can be measured through breathalyzers and blood tests, which law enforcement uses to determine intoxication levels. DUI convictions can lead to legal consequences such as fines, license suspension, increased insurance rates and potential jail time. The impact of a DUI extends beyond the individual to affect family and friends profoundly. Families may experience emotional and financial strain due to legal fees and it takes an emotional toll of worry, shame and disappointment. Education and awareness are strategies that can be used to prevent DUIs by promoting education about the dangers and moral implications of dunk driving, we can create a strong community norm against it. Schools, community groups and media campaigns can play a significant role in spreading awareness. Role models and mentors can help set standards, when peers and respected individuals are absent. It is also important to take personal responsibility. Emphasizing the moral responsibility to protect oneself and others can deter individuals from driving under the influence. Technically, sobriety checkpoints established by law enforcement to deter and catch drunk drivers can be a strong deterrent. Ignition interlock devices can be used to prevent cars from starting if the driver has been drinking. Public transportation and ride-sharing can also be strong strategies that can help with the increasing availability and awareness of alternative transportation options, with this, we can reduce the temptation to drive while impaired. Apps like Uber and Lyft provide convenient alternatives. In conclusion, it is important to establish strong support systems for individuals at risk of DUIs. If you see something, say something because it can save a life or lives of those impacted by an unwise decision. When you drink and drive, everyone loses and the effects are instant, long lasting and unfortunately in many cases, permanent. We all have a part to play in preventing DUIs.
