I've always wanted to help others get through their problems. Hopefully, by using my artistic and creative writing skills, I can help others through the medium of animation and storytelling. By creating stories for the public using art, I can help way more people than I would by just talking to them directly.

As an artist, I am drawn to the ability of artwork to convey powerful emotions and connect with viewers on a deep level. One piece in my portfolio that particularly resonates with me is a painting I created that depicts a standing at the end of a dark hospital hallway facing the light. What draws me to this piece is its ability to evoke a strong emotional response from viewers. You cannot see the figure's face, but the background and lighting give the audience all the information to understand what this piece is trying to convey. The hospital hallway and the solitary figure create a feeling of dread and relief that many people can relate to. This piece represents the depth of human emotion and the power of art to convey it.
I strive to create work that elicits an emotional response from viewers. I believe art can touch people in a way that words cannot and that it has the power to connect us on a deep and meaningful level. Through my work, I aim to create pieces that communicate complex emotions and encourage viewers to reflect on their experiences and feelings. What I appreciate most about this piece is that it speaks to the universality of human emotion. No matter who you are or where you come from, you have experienced the death of a loved one or the fear of dying at some point in your life. By depicting these emotions in my artwork, I hope to create a sense of empathy and understanding among viewers. In addition to its emotional impact, I also appreciate the technical aspects of this piece. The use of light and shadow creates a sense of depth and dimension, while the colour palette, consisting of only black and white, reinforces the piece's mood and creates a sense of melancholy and introspection.
In conclusion, this piece on accepting and visualizing death is one of my favourite pieces in my portfolio because it conveys powerful emotions and connects with viewers on a deep level. While my other pieces may show my technical skill in multiple media much better, this piece shows I can use art to create something meaningful for myself and the audience. Using the money from this scholarship, I can pursue my dream of creating stories to help people using art. I hope to leave the world a better place than how I found it.

As a young child, I often found solace in the stories shown on TV. Each story or subsequent episode taught me valuable lessons about life and the world around me. Because of this, I developed a passion for storytelling and a deep interest in human psychology as I grew older. As a graduating high school student, I am committed to using my artistic abilities and knowledge of psychology to help others understand themselves and the world around them.
The desire to help others stems from my experiences of struggling through difficult times without much support. When I was going through tough times, I felt alone and overwhelmed. No one was there to guide me, and I had to navigate the challenges independently. It was a painful and lonely experience, making me realize that I never wanted anyone else to feel that way.
Through my artistic abilities, I want to tell stories that help people understand themselves and the world around them. Stories can transport us to different places and evoke emotions we may not even realize we have. I want to use this power to create stories that help people see the world through a different lens and to understand themselves and others better. In particular, I am interested in using my knowledge of human psychology to create stories that tackle complex issues such as mental health, relationships, and societal problems. By exploring these issues through the lens of storytelling, I can help people better understand themselves and the world around them.
My ultimate goal is to break the cycle of pain and leave the world a better place than I found it. Using my artistic abilities and interest in human psychology, I can help people find the support and guidance they need to overcome their challenges. By creating stories that explore complex issues and evoke empathy and understanding, I hope to inspire others to be more compassionate and empathetic towards themselves and others.
In conclusion, I am committed to using my artistic abilities and knowledge of psychology to create stories that help people understand themselves and the world around them. Through my work, I want to break the cycle of pain and help others find the support and guidance they need to overcome their challenges. While no one helped me in my times of need, I want to be the person who helps others in theirs. By doing so, I can leave the world a better place than how I found it.

I've always loved helping people. Due to my artistic ability and love for illustration, I create stories and drawings to help people understand more about themselves and the world around them. I feel that art as a medium can help people a lot more than the general public gives it credit. For example, creating characters is something I hold near and dear to my heart. Whenever I make a new character, they always have a purpose: to tell some story. It would be easy to add surface-level qualities to my creations, but I find it more interesting - and sometimes helpful - to dive deeper into certain traits and behaviours. How do characters interact? How do they respond to a particular situation? How does a specific problem affect a character's behaviours and actions? I ask these questions as I make my characters and shape stories around them. Paying attention to small details is especially important to me. Characters don't only show emotion through facial expressions and dialogue; small gestures can also show how a character feels or what their intentions are. For example, how do you act when you lie? Do you avoid eye contact? Fidget? Shift in your seat? Applying these small gestures while a character is acting out will add more depth and help outside viewers understand that character better. If the audience can pick up on small ticks a character shows during an action - for example, lying - the audience will know if that character is doing it in the future without having to be explicitly told through other means. I usually turn to the internet for information if I'm stuck or don't know much about a topic. Reading body language through videos can be helpful if I want to learn how people are affected by a specific situation. Sometimes, I ask my friends about their experiences and thoughts towards a topic or circumstance. I believe some of the issues I touch on require meticulous detail to make sure I'm not misinterpreting to overshadowing something serious. I put these aspects and minor elements in my stories because I want people to walk away with something. I want to help people learn more about each other and themselves. I've always been interested in helping people, and I believe storytelling is an easy way to achieve that goal. Hopefully, by going to a good college, I can help more people with the knowledge and resources given to me.
