As a first-generation college student, my journey has been both challenging and transformative. Growing up, I faced numerous obstacles, often feeling like I was navigating uncharted waters without a map. However, these experiences fueled my desire to pursue a business degree in Human Resource Management. I am passionate about creating supportive environments where others can thrive, just as I wish I had when I was younger. HR is pivotal in shaping workplace culture, promoting inclusivity, and ensuring that individuals have access to opportunities for growth and development. I am particularly interested in talent development and conflict resolution, as I believe these skills are crucial for fostering harmonious and productive environments. Making a Positive Impact on My Community My educational journey motivates me to give back to my community, especially to the youth who may face similar challenges. Here’s how I plan to make a difference: Mentorship Initiatives: I want to create mentorship programs that connect students with professionals who can guide them through their educational and career paths. Having had limited access to role models, I understand the importance of having someone to provide support and encouragement. Workshops and Skills Training: By organizing workshops focused on essential life skills—such as resume building, interview preparation, and networking—I aim to empower young people with the tools they need to navigate their futures confidently. Collaborating with Local Schools: I plan to partner with local schools to develop programs that address the unique needs of students. This includes creating resources for mental health awareness, conflict resolution, and fostering a sense of belonging. Community Engagement Projects: I believe in the power of service. By involving students in community projects, we can instill a sense of responsibility and demonstrate the importance of giving back. This engagement will help them build connections and enhance their social skills. Promoting Diversity and Inclusion: I am committed to advocating for inclusive practices in schools, ensuring that every student feels valued and supported, regardless of their background. By promoting diversity, we can create a richer learning environment for everyone. Through my education in Human Resource Management, I aspire to be a beacon of hope for the next generation, helping them realize their potential and encouraging them to overcome their challenges. My journey has equipped me with the determination and empathy to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others, and I look forward to using my experiences to inspire change in my community.

As a professional in School Personnel and Human Resources, I recognize the profound impact educational institutions can have in addressing social problems. With a deep commitment to fostering positive change, I leverage my role to implement strategies that tackle systemic issues and empower individuals within the education system. One of the primary ways I address social problems is by championing equity and inclusion within educational settings. Recognizing the disparities that exist within our society, I work tirelessly to create environments where every student and staff member feels valued and supported, regardless of their background or identity. By implementing inclusive hiring practices, developing culturally responsive curricula, and fostering a sense of belonging for all, I strive to dismantle systemic barriers and promote equal opportunities for success. Another critical aspect of my work involves addressing the mental health and well-being of students and staff. In today's society, mental health issues are pervasive, and educational institutions play a vital role in providing support and resources to those in need. Through initiatives such as mental health awareness campaigns, counseling services, and staff training on trauma-informed practices, I endeavor to create safe and supportive environments where individuals can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. I firmly believe that investing in the professional development of educators and staff is essential for addressing social problems within the education system. By providing opportunities for ongoing training, mentorship, and career advancement, I empower individuals to enhance their skills, stay abreast of best practices, and adapt to the evolving needs of students and communities. In doing so, I not only strengthen the capacity of educational institutions but also cultivate a workforce that is equipped to address the complex social issues facing our society. Addressing social problems requires diverse perspectives and leadership at all levels of the education system. To this end, I advocate for increasing representation and opportunities for marginalized groups in leadership positions. By actively recruiting and supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, I strive to create more inclusive decision-making processes and policies that reflect the needs and experiences of all stakeholders. Through inclusive leadership practices, I aim to foster environments where everyone has a voice and a seat at the table. Lastly, I recognize the importance of collaboration with community partners in addressing social problems that impact educational outcomes. By forging partnerships with local organizations, government agencies, and advocacy groups, I can leverage collective resources and expertise to tackle issues such as poverty, homelessness, and access to healthcare. Together, we can develop holistic approaches that address the root causes of social problems and create opportunities for students and families to thrive both inside and outside the classroom. In my role in School Personnel and Human Resources, I am deeply committed to addressing social problems within the education system. Through promoting equity and inclusion, supporting mental health and well-being, fostering professional development, promoting diversity in leadership, and collaborating with community partners, I strive to create environments where all individuals have the opportunity to reach their full potential. By working collectively to address these challenges, we can build a more just, equitable, and inclusive society for future generations.

In a world bustling with technological advancements and fast-paced living, I've embarked on a personal journey to embrace sustainability as a way of life. My commitment manifests itself in a seemingly small yet impactful choice: the intentional recycling of aluminum cans. This decision is not merely a routine action but a conscious effort to reduce my carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable and ecologically balanced future. The roots of my eco-conscious lifestyle trace back to a deep-seated belief in individual responsibility for the health of our planet. The significance of this responsibility became glaringly apparent as I delved into the environmental challenges that our world faces today. Climate change, resource depletion, and pollution are not abstract concepts but stark realities that demand urgent attention. It was against this backdrop that I decided to take tangible steps towards a more sustainable existence. Choosing to recycle aluminum cans is a deliberate act, driven by an understanding of the environmental toll exacted by the production of this ubiquitous material. Aluminum, while versatile and widely used, comes at a high cost to the environment. The extraction and refinement of bauxite into aluminum require substantial energy, leading to greenhouse gas emissions and environmental degradation. By recycling cans, I actively engage in a circular economy, disrupting the linear pattern of extraction, use, and disposal. Reducing my carbon footprint is, for me, a multifaceted commitment. It involves recognizing the interconnectedness of seemingly disparate choices in my daily life. Recycling is not an isolated act but part of a broader lifestyle characterized by mindful consumption and waste reduction. It's a commitment to using resources efficiently and minimizing the environmental impact of my actions. The impact of recycling extends beyond the immediate act itself. It's a tangible way to address the alarming environmental statistics that loom over us. According to studies, recycling aluminum saves around 95% of the energy required to produce it from raw materials. This statistic is not just a number for me; it's a quantifiable representation of the positive change I can effect by making conscious choices. It's a small yet powerful step towards mitigating climate change and preserving our planet's delicate balance. The importance of reducing my carbon footprint goes beyond the environmental realm; it's a matter of social responsibility and intergenerational equity. I believe in leaving behind a world that is not burdened by the consequences of short-sighted decisions. Every recycled can is a gesture towards a legacy of sustainability, a legacy that transcends my lifetime. Living sustainably is not without its challenges. It requires a continuous process of education, introspection, and adaptation. It involves making choices that align with my values, even when convenience beckons in the opposite direction. Yet, the rewards of this journey are immeasurable. It's a journey of empowerment, knowing that my choices matter and can inspire others to embark on their paths of sustainability. As I navigate this journey, I find myself becoming an advocate for change. I share my experiences and knowledge, hoping to inspire others to join the movement towards a more sustainable world. I believe that individual actions, when multiplied across communities and societies, can lead to transformative change. In conclusion, my choice to recycle aluminum cans is not just a personal preference; it's a conscious commitment to reducing my carbon footprint and contributing to a more sustainable future. It's an acknowledgment that our actions, no matter how small, ripple through the fabric of our interconnected world. Through intentional choices and a commitment to sustainability, I strive to leave behind a legacy that echoes the importance of living harmoniously with the planet.

Volunteering has changed my mindset personally and professionally. By volunteering I have learned that everyone has their unique talent; sometimes it just takes having someone to help you find it. In volunteering, my mindset was changed from believing that everyone should be able to do something just because I can, to seeing and understanding why others aren't capable of doing what I can but that they can do something that I can't. It has helped me become a more compassionate and encouraging individual and has been such a rewarding experience in helping others grow. This scholarship would positively impact my education by relieving some of the financial burdens placed on me to cover the cost of tuition. I am constantly worrying about how I am going to pay for school, and not take away from contributing to my family and home. This scholarship would relieve me of stress that in turn will allow me to focus more on my studies and less on worry and work. Any scholarship would be a blessing and allow me to continue pushing forward; to one day reach my goal of completing my business degree at WGU. The impact this scholarship could have on my education would be astronomical. It would allow me to focus on my school work, instead of having to pick up more shifts waiting tables or worrying about how I am going to make ends meet to pay for school. It would give me a sense of security and the ability to be clear-minded and determined so that I in turn could devote as much time as I can to excel in my coursework. This scholarship would prevent me from losing study time and grant me the full ability to complete my coursework. I do not want to let my family down and I am constantly reminding myself that I am not being selfish for going to college but I am doing my best to better the lives of our family as a whole. I want financial stability and a Business degree is my only hope for that. This scholarship would help to lift the worry of school, tuition, and family finances off my shoulders and allow me to continue my education pathway without having to withdraw from college due to financial circumstances. I plan to continue utilizing the Federal Financial Aid that I am receiving and do my best to put money back every week as a security blanket for the cost of the school; that is if I can ever get my family financially back on our feet.

My academic history has always been important to me and as I have also aspired to be the first of 7 children to graduate from a University with a Bachelors Degree. During the school year 2008-2009 I was a Senior in High School half the morning, worked as a intern with at the Board of Education for the remainder of the school day, and a Technical College Student at night, I was enrolled as a full time technical college student in the Nail Tech Program. I was toward earning the Nail Technician Certificate. I worked hard for a year to achieve this goal and actually finished my first technical college program in March of 2009 and walked across the stage at the North Georgia Technical College graduation ceremony in April 2009. I then graduated high school with honors in May of 2009. After I graduated Technical College and High School, I was trying to decide what I wanted to do with my life and re-enrolled myself into the nursing program at North Georgia Technical College, again. Soon after I started school, I quickly realized that I was not cut out for nursing and completely changed my career path, dropped the nursing program and enrolled in the Cosmetology Program. I choice to become a Master Cosmetologist. Around three months into the program I became pregnant with my sweet baby girl. Going to college got hard, I was sick all day and all night every day. I never got any rest. I would go to college and then work as an apprentice Cosmetologist in the evenings and on the weekends at a local Salon so that I could earning credit hours to finish the Cosmetology program as quickly as possible. When the time came for me to deliver my daughter I had one last semester to complete in order to finish the program. Life became harder and harder but I refused to give up on my career and went back for the spring semester and I finished the program. I never quit or gave up, even as life got harder and I was trying to juggle being a new mom, working, and going to the Technical College all at the same time; but I still went back and completed the remaining courses to finish my diploma program. Once I finished the program at North Georgia Technical College, I went to Atlanta Georgia and took the Georgia State Board proctored test. I passed the exam and scored highest in the group of individuals being tested, and I successfully and proudly achieved my goal and became a Master Cosmetologist. At this point in my life I am ready to go all the way in earning my Bachelors Degree in Business- Human Resource Management. I have had many snide remarks made to me about returning to school for the third time, I remind myself that I started with a Technical Certificate, then an Associates Degree and nothing will stop me from completing my Bachelors Degree. Now it is time to better my family and prove to myself and everyone else out there watching me, that anyone can do anything they set there mind too!
