I am a rising junior studying computer science major in Cornell’s College of Engineering. Last summer I worked at Havas Health & You’s as a Technical Analyst/IT intern. At Havas, I optimized the business card creation process by building a request/approval form in the IT services site using HTML and C# and wrote an instructional manual for executives on how to use company software. This summer, I will be interning on Uber’s security software team. At Cornell, I am involved in the Women in Computing at Cornell’s executive board, serving as the co-director of community discussions. Previously, I have collaborated with two other clubs to plan the bi-annual Computer Science formal (under budget of $7750 and sold out with 250 attendees) and organized and facilitated over a dozen events open to the computer science community. In addition, I am a consultant/teacher’s assistant for Cornell’s Introduction to Computer Science course. Last year, I was the only freshman selected to join the staff and have now held this position for three semesters. My responsibilities include answering questions regarding fundamental computing concepts during office hours three hours a week and grading assignments and exams. Finally, I am the SubTeam Lead on AguaClara, an organization which aims to develop water purifying technology for under-developed countries. As a subteam lead, I manage four programmers of the subteam and create an ambitious yet feasible plan for the semester. Currently, we are developing an application which determines the potability of water using computer vision techniques in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
With respect to my academic goals, I am extremely passionate about developing technology for humanitarian good: specifically to better environmental issues. That is why I plan to continue my education and obtain a masters in computer science after completing my undergraduate degree. Afterwards, I plan to work in industry, at a company that prioritizes environmental innovation.
