      1. Tell us a bit about yourself and how you plan to make a positive impact on the world through your engineering career. My name is Nadim Yousify, and I’m a veteran with a strong sense of discipline, responsibility, and problem-solving. My military background taught me how to work under pressure, lead teams, and find solutions to real-world challenges. These experiences inspired me to pursue engineering as a way to make a lasting impact. I am passionate about finding innovative and sustainable solutions to improve healthcare and infrastructure, especially in underserved and resource-limited communities. I believe engineering is not just about building things—it’s about solving problems that matter. My goal is to use my knowledge and skills to create systems and technologies that enhance people’s quality of life. Whether it’s designing better medical equipment, improving energy efficiency, or creating infrastructure that serves communities in need, I want my work to make a positive difference. 2. Describe any life experiences that influenced your decision to pursue a degree in engineering. Growing up, I witnessed how the lack of reliable infrastructure could limit people’s opportunities and hold communities back. Roads, water systems, and basic facilities were often inadequate, making it harder for people to access education, healthcare, and work. These challenges stuck with me, and I always wanted to be part of the solution. During my military service, I was exposed to advanced technologies, systems, and problem-solving strategies that fascinated me. Whether it was working with specialized equipment or seeing how engineering systems supported critical operations, I realized how much of an impact engineering could have on everyday life. These experiences solidified my decision to pursue a degree in engineering, where I can combine my passion for problem-solving with my desire to help others. I want to use the skills I gain through this degree to create tangible, lasting solutions that address the kinds of challenges I’ve seen firsthand. 3. Who is your favorite inventor or engineer and why? My favorite engineer is Nikola Tesla. His innovative ideas and creativity completely changed the world, especially with his work on alternating current (AC) systems, which made modern electricity distribution possible. I admire Tesla not only for his brilliance but also for his vision of improving humanity through technology. He pushed boundaries and often worked tirelessly, even without the recognition he deserved at the time. Tesla’s ability to think far ahead of his time inspires me to approach engineering with the same determination and creativity. His work reminds me that engineering isn’t just about solving today’s problems but about imagining and building a better future for generations to come.
