I am very passionate about helping people and I love to write. I hope to reach and touch people through my writing, no matter what kind of writing it may be. I believe any kind of writing can reach anybody as long as you write with your heart and soul. I am a well-rounded type of person. I can do pretty well at most things and I work hard to be more than mediocre at things. I will attend Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY. I believe I am a great candidate for scholarships because if I can get enough money to put myself through college with as little debt as possible, I will learn more and more how to touch people and impact their lives through not only my writing but my technology occupation as well.
Assuming I am awarded any money, I will put every single penny toward my college education and making the world a better place through technology.

Bold.org College Journalism Grant
Journalism is an amazing major, which is overlooked every day. Journalism is my passion because I love to write, so journalism is simply putting not only my writing skills to good use but my spelling and grammar skills as well. Journalism is a good major if you want to go into any type of job in the news industry. You will be better at not only your writing, but your spelling and grammar will improve as well. This will help get you into many jobs and work your way up the chain of command. Depending on what you are passionate about in your free time, you could become a reporter in that field. For example, a journalism major who loves sports could easily become a sports reporter. I am passionate about technology, so I might become a feature writer for my specific field.
While I've not yet pursued any journalism projects in the past, I look forward to pursuing them in the future. I want to become an intern at a news station where I can see journalism being used firsthand. I also may want to consider shadowing a journalist for a local paper, and perhaps even an editor at that. There are so many careers that I can pursue, it's hard to pick just one!
In modern society, people have pulled many important issues to light. Ignoring politics (as all good journalists should), three issues come to mind that have been frequent problems in recent years. Abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, and climate change. Abortion is tearing people apart, either on one side or the other. Is it right or is it wrong? I'm not personally sure, but as a journalist, I would report only the facts, never opinions. LGBTQ+ people have gotten a lot of support in the past. While I do believe in "to each, their own," I cannot let bias opinions stop me from stating the facts. If a fight were to break out, it would be best to avoid bias opinions and state only the truths of what happened from an outside view.
When I get to college, I'd like to pursue extracurricular involvement in the school's newspaper. I'd like to become either a reporter or an editor. As a reporter, I would find stories to write about based on the students. I would find the little things that make our school great, not the big news that everyone else will cover. I wish to work on seeing people for the individuals they are and what makes every single one of them unique, different, and special. There is not a human alive who is not unique. I wish to explore that concept in-depth in a school's newspaper, allowing other students to take pride in the small things in our school. It's worth telling because everybody goes about their daily life without realizing that there are other real, live souls out there who are going through life as well. We need to realize that we don't need big things and events to make us happy, we just need to listen to other people in our lives. The story is worth telling because change starts with our generation. We need to start having verbal conversations again, because not having them may be part of the cause of our generation's mental health issues.
If I were to receive this grant, I would put every bit of the money toward my college fund. I am from a very small town, come from a family of 6, and we live off of the salary of my father, who is a teacher. It isn't much to go on. Being the oldest, my parents cannot dedicate every penny to me. They must save for my three younger siblings. The money from this scholarship would be put straight into my college fund to help the dreams of this small-town girl come true. I want to be a great writer, but even more so, a great person. I believe I can achieve that through college.
Philosophy Scholarship
Philosophy can be defined as a "personal mental view on the world." After studying philosophy, my life will be enlightened and more susceptible to the events unfolding in daily life. This will allow me to better assess each situation that I find myself in. Even though my studies will cease in a few years, I will never stop learning and teaching others about what I learned.
A degree in philosophy will help me see the world in a completely different way. It will give me new ideas to think about, and perhaps allow me to better the world through my ideas, just as the Enlightenment Philosophers did. John Locke and Baron de Montesquieu are well-known philosophers from that time period. John Locke was a British philosopher that came up with the idea that every man should have "life, liberty, and property." Montesquieu, on the other hand, was a French philosopher who came up with the idea of "separation of powers" in our government. Through my own philosophy classes and ideas, I aspire to be like them and change the course of history. I wish to spark an intellectual revolution that will impact the world and how things are done.
After I graduate, I plan to become a professor in the subject, in which I will teach about philosophy and how it works. I will not only share my personal views, but the views of all kinds of philosophers, such as Aristotle, Confucious, and David Hume. These men have greatly influenced our world, just by seeing things from a new perspective. That is what I hope to give to students. If I cannot make a revolutionary difference in this world, perhaps they will be able to. I wish to spread the practice of philosophy and show others that it is simpler than they may think. Just as so many in the past have changed the world, I wish to do the same.
Philosophy helps me see the world in a new light. One that I had never seen before. I was ignorant then, but now I've decided to open my eyes to all the possibilities the world has to offer. Philosophy is opening me up to new ideas and I can pose new questions to be solved. I hope to become wiser and pass on to the next few generations what I've learned, as well as to my children and grandchildren when they come about. I aspire to be abstract and different from everyone else who could possibly take my place. I want to be known for my wisdom and my revolutionary ideas, even if they are before my time. History shows that philosophers are always listened to eventually, even if it's not right away. I yearn to be known and a prominent member of a functioning society in the near future, even during college and my studies.
Creativity is a simple word, which has many meanings, but it can last a lifetime. To create is to make something out of nothing, which is what I did here. I hope you enjoyed my show.
