Hi, my name is Mulisa, I was born in a country called Rwanda. We grew up not having much at all, but God got us through it. I grew up in a single-parent home, where my father was in the military so he was never around, My mom did her best to provide for us, and we tried many times to help her too. In my country it was hard for a woman to find work, many times they had to rely on their husband, so my mom being on her own for a moment had to try her best to find a job. Me and my brother would try to sell little juices to make some money, not for candy, not for chocolate, but to give to our mother. When I was younger I was sick a lot from, many times from the medicine provided to me. I was in and out of the hospital many times, which had me tired, but I always knew God would be with me every step of the way. Every time I went to the doctor I would see nurses pass me by, and see myself wearing that one day. By the grace of God, we got the opportunity to come to the United States, Ever since I came at the age of eight, I had a dream to one day be a nurse and also help others get better. I want people to feel the same joy I had when I knew I would get better when a nurse came to my aid. As I got older, I started thinking if nursing or working in the hospital was the career for me, but I was reminded how much as a little girl I admired every nurse that passed by me, seeing myself in the same gown. I then realized that, yes, this is what I want to do, that it was what I wanted to be. Now I’m a college student majoring in nursing, I am here trying my best to accomplish my dream. I have been given so many opportunities which is a blessing for me. I know that no matter how hard it may be, I have to push because I came into this field knowing that it won’t be easy, but I know that in the end, it will all be worth it, I thank you for giving me an opportunity for this scholarship I will do my best and push past my limits.

By you reading this, I just want to say thank you for giving me a chance at this scholarship. I have been applying for so many scholarships since I first stepped into my first year of college. I never won any of them and I was a little sad about it, but I learned to have patience and hoping my time will come, I am praying that this is that time. I would like to start off with introducing myself, Hi, my name is Mulisa Mukarisagara . I was born in Africa in a country called Rwanda. We grew up not having much, but by the grace of God we were doing alright. When I was around the age of five or six, others would go play with friends and not worry about anything at all, but I would be in the market trying to sale little bags of juice so I could get some money to give to my mom, or buy something that we could eat at home. Me and all my siblings managed to go to school, so when we grow up we can provide for our mother, and give her a good life. As a young child I used to get sick a lot, to the point where I would have to go to the hospital many many times. Every time I would walk in the hospital, I would see how hard the nurses were working to help as many people as they could, and that inspired me to become a nurse when I grew up. I would like to happily say I am working so hard, trying my best, and praying that I can also be in a hospital helping other people. I later on in life started debating if this was the actual path I wanted to take. I reminded myself, why I wanted this in the first, I remembered the joy I had when the nurse visited me, gave me medicine, and felt happy about there presence. It was a big reminder to me that it was the way I wanted someone else to also feel, safe. I am a hard working student trying her best to get into nursing, and If I get this scholarship, I will do my best and keep pushing, so that I can have the opportunity to make people feel better and also make them feel safe which is the most important to me. Again thank you so much for this opportunity and I hope that you will give me a chance. God bless you.
