Bio

My name is Mohamed Kabia and I am a senior at Bishop McNamara Catholic High School. I was born in Sierra Leone but moved to Prince George's County at a young age. Growing up there had a major impact on me, influencing who I am now. As a child, I developed a passion for soccer, which has remained an important part of my life. I played travel soccer for 12 years and was the varsity soccer captain in my ninth grade year. Soccer has taught me about leadership, teamwork, and resilience, and these teachings continue to influence me now. My passion for soccer extends beyond playing—I also enjoy training. I coach the DMV Marksmen soccer team's younger players, planning practices and giving tactical coaching. to mentor young athletes while also promoting characteristics such as confidence, compassion, and service, which I admire. In addition to my enthusiasm for soccer, I have a wide range of academic and extracurricular interests. I'm invested in my education, with a 3.8 weighted GPA and active participation in various groups and organizations. I am a member of the National Honor Society, Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and the Science National Honor Society. I am proud to uphold my commitment to scholarship, community service, and leadership.

My name is Mohamed Kabia, and my upbringing in Prince George's County has influenced my principles of resiliency and community. My sense of duty and work ethic have been greatly influenced by my family in particular. As an accountant, my father has consistently demonstrated self-control and sound financial judgment. My interest in finance has grown as a result of seeing him diligently handle the challenges of his work. Another significant effect on me has come from my mother, a travel nurse. Her compassion for her patients and her commitment to assisting others have motivated me to integrate service into both my personal and professional lives. Her tales of the difficulties and rewards of her job, which I frequently heard as a child, inspired me to have a positive influence on people. Her empathy and hard ethic have influenced my attitude to both my personal and professional obligations. Apart from my family, I have been greatly impacted by my love of soccer. I've been playing soccer since I was a kid, and I've had the honor of coaching the boys' DMV Marksmen squad. I've learned the value of perseverance, leadership, and collaboration from this experience, and I've used these lessons both on and off the field. It has been incredibly fulfilling to help younger players grow their abilities and self-assurance, and it has taught me the value of leadership and mentoring. As I pursue my future education and job, I'm determined to keep those teachings in mind. I've always placed a high value on juggling my studies, athletics, and personal development. I want to be well-rounded—someone who leads with integrity does community service and does well in the classroom. These principles have influenced my path and enabled me to develop into a person who values education, assisting others, and improving as a leader. I am thrilled about the prospects that lie ahead as I look to the future. In order to combine my interests in technology, business, and service, I intend to study in both computer science and finance at Howard University. I think I can make a significant contribution to the IT sector and the larger community if I have the proper mix of leadership experience and academic rigor. I've learned the value of balance, perseverance, and mentoring from both my academic and personal experiences, and I'm excited to keep going because I want to have a significant impact on both my community and my field.

I'm Mohamed Kabia, and I've always been motivated by a desire to help others, take up leadership roles, and improve my community. I experienced personally the value of giving back and the strength of mentoring while growing up in Prince George's County. I had the honor of mentoring younger athletes and teaching them the values of self-control, discipline, and teamwork while playing varsity soccer and then coaching the DMV Marksmen boys' team. Teaching young players the game is only one aspect of coaching; another is helping them develop resilience and character. I have been actively involved in a number of groups that support community service and academic excellence outside of soccer. I have maintained a dedication to service and scholarship as a member of the National English Honor Society, Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society, and the National Honor Society. My leadership abilities have also been strengthened by the opportunity to provide spiritual and emotional support to my peers in my capacity as a peer minister at Bishop McNamara Catholic High School. I was able to observe patient care up close while volunteering at Dr. Millicent Edgar's clinic, which strengthened my resolve to contribute significantly to society. Financial need is still a major concern for my family as I get ready to start college. In order to give me the best educational possibilities, my mother, a travel nurse, and father, an accountant, have made significant sacrifices. Even though they put in a lot of effort, the expense of higher education is still prohibitive, particularly because they still have to pay my high school tuition each month. In order to maximize my education and pursue a career in technology, quantitative finance, or private equity, I intend to major in computer science and minor in finance at Howard University. Financial aid and scholarships will greatly lessen the strain on my family and free me up to concentrate on my studies and career objectives. As a mentor and coach, I'm dedicated to fostering a secure and encouraging atmosphere for youth, both virtually and in person. As a soccer referee and member of the DMV Marksmen, I place a strong emphasis on sportsmanship and respect, making sure that bullying and other bad behavior are never accepted. In order to make athletes feel appreciated and supported, I promote candid conversation with them. Furthermore, cyberbullying is becoming a bigger problem in the current digital era. I teach young athletes  the value of social media etiquette, reminding them that their online words and deeds have actual repercussions. I also support reporting negative behavior and getting assistance when required. In order to create a space where young people feel comfortable, secure, and empowered to be their best selves, I want to cultivate an atmosphere of respect both on the field and online. I want to have a significant influence on my community through my leadership, academic excellence, and service commitment. I am sure that I can carry on with this work and give those around me even more possibilities if I have the proper assistance.
