    Mental Health Importance Scholarship
Your brain controls everything. Everything you do, see, hear, touch, and taste, is all because of your brain. Your brain is something that needs to be healthy just like the rest of your body. Having poor mental health can make life much more difficult and can make completing simple tasks such as eating or using the bathroom feel impossible. Not having good mental health is hard to deal with and once it gets bad, it is much harder to get out of, especially alone. I know from personal experience that depression and anxiety are very difficult to deal with especially when in school. You are already struggling with basic living and the stress of schoolwork infinitely multiples it. Being unable to maintain mental wellness can lead to a student falling behind and their grades dropping which is detrimental to their education. Mental health can be a difficult topic to talk about especially when one is struggling but it is an important one. Talking about mental health is the best way for people to learn about how to maintain it and it also makes it easier for individuals to feel more comfortable talking about their mental health. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle such as exercising and eating healthy combined with learning about ways to deal with stress helps keep my mental health up. Taking walks when stressed or journaling your feelings can help you be able to deal with it easier. It is also important to find good relationships with either friends or family that can help you in a situation where you may be struggling with your mental health. When I'm struggling, I like to call or visit a friend that I trust to talk about what's happening and sometimes I do not want to talk about it at all but just need my friend to distract me from what has been on my mind. When my mental health begins to get bad, I make sure to let my loved ones know so they will be ready to support and help me if I need them. Mental wellness is crucial to an individual's overall wellness and one must take care of their brain and mind as they do for any other part of their body. It is important to seek help from trusted adults or professionals when needed whether it be for themselves or a loved one. If you notice someone who is struggling, it is critical to seek help from a trusted person.
"The Summer I Turned Pretty" Fan Scholarship
People often say your first love never dies, but is that true? When it comes to Isabel Conklin and Conrad Fisher in the “The Summer I Turned Pretty” series on Amazon Prime and the trilogy book series by Jenny Han, the answer is yes. Conrad Fisher has always been the one for Belly as seen from the scenes of their childhood and their lack of communication during the series ended a beautiful relationship. Jeremiah’s relationship with Belly will never compare to the relationship she shares with Conrad and due to her inability to push away her feelings for Conrad, her relationship with Jeremiah would never work. Conrad allows Belly to be happy regardless if she chooses him or not which juxtaposes Jeremiah’s behavior toward Belly when she originally chose Conrad over him. As seen in the last episodes of season 2, Conrad leaves Jeremiah and Belly to be happy although heartbroken, even allowing them to take his car, forcing him to have to take the public bus. This is continued to be seen in the third book in which he helps her plan her wedding with Jeremiah despite being still in love with her. This contrasts the reaction of Jeremiah in which she yells at Belly and guilts her by bringing up Susannah and talking about his “mom with cancer.” Jeremiah’s jealousy of Conrad and Belly would not allow their relationship to ever have complete trust. His jealousy is seen multiple times throughout his story such as when he shoots dangerous fireworks at Belly and Conrad when they are about to kiss which may have harmed them. This continues throughout season 2 as well even when Belly reassures him that she only sees Conrad as a friend. Conrad’s behavior when not being chosen demonstrates how he truly cares about Belly and wants her to be happy even if it is not with him. In addition to Conrad caring more about Belly, Conrad knows more about Belly and has always cared for her even in their childhood. In the final episode of season 2, Conrad picks out Sour Patch candy for Belly, knowing it is her favorite while Jeremiah chooses Swedish Fish, although Belly dislikes the candy. The lack of knowledge Jeremiah has for the little details about Belly despite claiming to be her best friend demonstrates how he is all talk. Conrad, who understands and knows her, remembers little details such as her favorite candy and her nausea while reading books in the car which are disregarded by Jeremiah. Even when they were kids, Conrad invited Belly to the pier and spent his time and money winning her Junior Mint and taught her about infinity revealing his true feelings for her that were not seen by her point of view. Belly will always have feelings toward Conrad and while she may love Jeremiah, she will never love him in the way she loves Conrad. Thus, Conrad and Belly are better than Jeremiah and Belly due to their everlasting first-love dynamic. While Belly may love Jeremiah, she will never love him the way she loves Conrad. Her relationship with Conrad juxtaposes the relationship of Taylor and Steven in the TV series, as she knows he could break her heart so she chooses to play it safe and be with Jeremiah. Conrad will always be better for her than Jeremiah despite their need to work on communication.
