Bio

While working at a local school district as a “Paraprofessional Behavioral Aide” I was fortunate enough to give back to the exact community I was raised in. Even working beside teachers who I had given extremely hard times too. They were ecstatic to see the change that had been produced in me, and was able to inspire the same in many students. The demographics of students I was working with had a lot of sociological jargon, but in layman’s terms, I was working with emotionally disturbed, gang-related, and substance abusing youth from 6th-8th grade. Inspiring them through a “Big Brother/Sister” type program, which included me attending their classes, visiting their homes, creating and implementing tier based behavioral programs, as well as motivating parents to be actively and aggressively involved in their children’s education. This process was partially successful with 3 of my students exiting my program within a 4 month span, which included improved grades, lowered truancy rates, and significantly decreased maladaptive behaviors in the classroom. This opportunity was not just a “paycheck” for me, but an opportunity for personal redemption, to show true absolution, which mended and restored past personal and professional relationships between middle school teachers and I. Despite working I was also able to strive towards my goal and complete two Associate Degrees from College of the Desert in Spring of 2022 with Highest Honors, with a 3.93 gradpoint average in Health Sciences and Kinesiology being the other.
