Hi! My name is Meya Glover and I am 15 years old. I am new to this thing I will try my best! My life goals are to make it through high school, to get scholarships so I can go to a culinary school. Then, maybe afterward I can either work in a restaurant or build my own. I always wanted to publish my songs because right now I have 17 songs in the process of making and five done. I just need some help with a studio so I can post or on the radio. And where I am going, I'll need a lot of money!
I am passionate about three main things, which are, singing, baking, and cooking. For me, this is the first time I ever try to win a scholarship. But I just want to make my family proud and pursue my dreams.

Nikhil Desai "Favorite Film" Scholarship
Usually, I love a lot of films, especially Disney films. I'll say my favorite film is the Disney version of Robin Hood. There are four good reasons why this is my all-time favorite. The first reason is that Robin Hood is the childhood movie that I grew up with. I am still watching that movie today!
The other reason is watching Robin Hood, reminds me of my grandma that has recently passed. When I was a child, my grandma would sit by me watching Robin Hood with me. Even though she falls asleep in her chair with her head back, with a bag of Fritos in her hands. I always thought that was funny to me. I miss those moments. The third reason is that a hero like Robin Hood is a favorite of mine and he steals for the good of Nottingham and he is a very loveable character. And of course, being the kid I was I had a crush on Robin Hood. Now, I don't have a crush, but I watch it because I like an adventure. And that leads to the last reason, I love singing and comedy. Certain songs are funny and romantic and also there are funny parts even my mother would start bursting out laughing at. The one funny part is when Lady Kluck is knocking all the rhinos out the way and shouting. "Long lives King Richard!"
The main reason for Robin Hood is my favorite movie is when my family is sitting and watching together, well somewhat. As mentioned earlier, Robin Hood is my all-time favorite film.
Hailey Julia "Jesus Changed my Life" Scholarship
Well, right now I am in the middle of a mess and other things. Thinking where is God taking me to. What is your plan for this world and me?
My journey of trust in God is still going because every day and moment is trust. And Jesus changed me so many times I stopped counting. Because we, the people, are never going to be perfect. Even though God has led through this storm I will have trust in him always. One time, not too long ago, I was searching for things I was not supposed to. And to think that I was ok looking for awful things and knowing that my mind was screwed. I saw something I shouldn't have seen. On the same day, I was in my bathroom noticing what was I was doing wrong. I asked God to please change me. I tried to repent, but then slowly over time I got started back up to where I was. Later down the road, I was listening to a song from Unspoken called "Just to get to me."
The lines that kept ringing in my head were "You shatter dreams and you tear down walls. You wake me up when I half asleep. Just to get to me. You shower me what I don't deserve. You never hold back anything." And it is true, God has showered me when I don't deserve anything. Because his grace and his mercy are everlasting. And from that day on I heard that song I never went back or turn around to what I thought was "better" or "good" for me. I also paid attention in the bible when John 3:16 says "For God so loves the world he gave his begotten son. And who so believe in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." That is just the beginning. I notice that God was moving in my life. Especially, "Psalm 91", God is telling me that I am safe with him. That's where my faith and my trust have built with God. Knowing God would not leave me. No matter what situation I am in. When my hard situation kicks in and where I am breaking down crying. But, someone told me," the teacher is always quiet during the test." Like I said earlier God will always have my trust and never leave me. For example, when I was 2 months year old I had a serious problem with my body. No one knew what was wrong with me. Not even the doctors. But God is the cure for my mental and physical body. Because days, after I was cured like nothing, happened to me. I trust God and if I become famous I would love to spread the gospel of Jesus around the world. "But the people who trust the Lord will become strong again. They will be able to rise up as an eagle in the sky. They will run without needing rest. They will walk without becoming tired." Isaiah 40:31.
Austin Kramer Music-Maker Scholarship
I can't really play any instrument that well, but I can sing very well. My inspiration came from experiences in my life that I had to go through as my younger self and now. Things that I have to remember the real meaning of. Instead of abusing it or just beating myself up. There were times that I was down in the dumps and I didn't see any good up ahead.
The song down below is a song that God himself was trying to tell me. Saying that not everything is going to go your way. Because Jeremiah 29:11 said, "I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Women in Music Scholarship
I was a young girl, but I barely knew right and wrong. Some days I was a bad apple seed and some days I decided to be a good growing apple seed. When I was younger people liked to judge me and pick on me. And the worst of all your family who thinks you will never change.
No matter how many times my parents talked to me or tried to get through to me, they would say “you are not going to get anywhere through life being bad like this and you’ll just repeat the same grade over again.”I did not care if I was lazy or just being a kid. However, something about me clicked or what people say “sparked”. I liked to cook and bake, but most of all I liked to sing. Sometimes when my parents cut on a song on the radio I sing with the people on the radio. When I sang it sounded pretty good, especially when I learned the words to the song. It was exciting! One day when I went to school, well, I was on the bus, kids were singing songs that they knew in the backseats of the bus. I asked the bus diver, my friend, Mrs.Crystal if I could go to the back seat and check on them. She was not sure at first then I waited for her response and she spoke “go ahead”.
I went toward the backseats and acted like a spy that was on a mission. Except I was not going to just check on the kids from the backseat, I wanted to sing. The kids were already in the middle of a song. I went back there and there was one seat in front of them. I slipped into the seat. One of the kids spotted me and her name was Taylor. “ Ugggh! What are you doing back here? You are not supposed to be back here!” Taylor roared. The other kids were looking in my direction and wondered who she was talking to. “Meya is being nosey again!” she said as she pointed in my direction. I was hiding behind the seat and wondered why she called me out like that. My head popped up slowly from the leather seat. Everyone back there stared at me as I came from the sewer or a hobo off the street. Guess what, all of them hated me to their guts. They told me to go back to the front where I belong. I briefly told them I wanted to sing. One of the kids yelled, “ Yeah, if you want to sound like a dying goat!” All of the children laughed. I stood my ground firmly and told them I wanted to sing. “Okay, sing!” a boy told me from the back.
I didn’t really have a song in mind because I thought they would have told on me by the time I got there. I sang a song that I sang at church, “Father Abraham”. It was a simple song, but everyone was kinda surprised that I even knew a church song. I was being watched so much to a point I wanted to stop. Right on time, it was Taylor’s stop. She gave me the worst looks out of all the looks she gave me and said “Stop looking at me and my friends and stop messing with us weirdo.” My heart sank deeper than the ocean. It made me feel like I shouldn’t sing ever again or open my mouth. One of them told me I faked my singing. I just have some kind of talent that can copy voices. Like the copycat I was. I didn’t believe them or in my personal view of him, but we do not mind him. I moved up towards the front of the bus and one of them shouted “Don’t come back!” Mrs.Crystal looked at me and gave me a concerned look and asked “what’s wrong?” I shook my head.
There is more to this story, but there is a time when I realized that everything that hurt me or made me cry, I know "All those horrible things to make you stronger."
