Bio

I aspire to be a Software Engineer. I have loved technology since I was a young kid. I know I'm at a disadvantage being 30 years old but I've been in college for 7 years. It has taken me longer than usual because I have worked a full time job all through out college. I graduate this year in 2022. I am determined to get a job in software engineering. I have worked my whole life and consider myself to be a hard worker. I've always had to pay my way. I've never received help from my parents or anybody else with college expenses. I would not be able to attend college if it wasn't for loans from the government. I've applied for scholarships but have never received one before. I hope to get some help from somebody because I will have a lot of student loans to pay back. I would really appreciate it. I'm very passionate about software engineering and I look forward to learning new things everyday. In this field you never stop learning and that's what I like about it the most. I think I'm a good candidate because I've worked very hard to get to where I am. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA all through Elms College and have been on the deans list every semester. I strive to be the best I can be. I am also one of the 20 percent of women in the United States that will graduate with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science. It is a male dominated field but I want to help other women pursue their dreams in this field and I hope to do that when I get a job as a software engineer.

I am passionate about Software Development. I spend all my free time learning as much as I can about it. I am getting better by the day. Practice makes perfect! What motivates me is thinking about working in a Software Developer/Software Engineer position and doing something I love to do for work. I am currently studying Computer Science and Computer Information and Cybersecurity as a double major. I am interested in this because I genuinely enjoy learning about all the new technologies, and I love using my brain to solve problems and think logically. At first, I was not sure which degree I wanted to pursue so I decided to do a double major. I am interested in Cybersecurity, but I enjoy Computer Science more. Specifically, I enjoy Software Development/Software Engineering. I just want to learn everything I can about it and be the best I can be. I remember when I first discovered my passion for Software Development and that was when I took my first Python class. I just fell in love with this amazing skill, and I feel like I can create anything I want online with these skills. I feel like having these skills is equivalent to having a superpower. After Python I took Web Design and Web Programming and I really love that as well. Building websites is fun and being able to show people your work is amazing. I have decided that I like both back and front-end development, so I want to be a Full-Stack Engineer. I realize it is tougher to do this. Most people pick one or the other, either back or front end, but I am up for the challenge. I think these two fields are very closely related. There are many ways these two majors could come together in the future. Knowing both Computer Science and Cybersecurity will help me in my career because I will have many skills and I hope that will make it easier for me to get a career in this field. I hope to accomplish many things in my career, such as helping a company to meet their goals and impress my managers. With that in mind, I would hope to move up in a company and become a Tech Lead. I am a people person and a natural leader. I think that I have the potential to be a good Tech Leader. I also hope to land a job where I make good money, so I do not have to worry as much about paying my bills, as of right now I do struggle to pay for college and my other bills. I know that if I keep working everyday as hard as I do on my skills then someone will want to hire me. I am very motivated, and I think anyone can do anything if they put their mind to it. You just need to put in the hard work and time it takes to be the best you can be.

Most people pick one or the other, either back or front end, but I am up for the challenge. I am requesting support because I could really use it. I have struggled my whole life because I came from a poor family. My parents never had a college fund for me. I had to pay for everything myself. I have worked for everything I have in life; I have never received anything from my family. It has not been easy, but I am very motivated and I want a better life for myself then the one I had growing up. I do not want to be poor anymore or struggle to pay my bills. I decided to go to college because I want to better my life and not live paycheck by paycheck every week with no extra spending money like I do now. Sometimes I cannot even afford to buy food, or I have to borrow money to pay my rent. I had to get a credit card to pay my summer school bill because my financial aid would not cover it. I could not afford the money for the course, but I need to take the class, so I had no choice but to put it on a credit card. I recently quit my full-time job two weeks ago to pursue a paid internship. It is a huge risk for me to do this because if I do not get a full time offer after completing the internship in August I will be out of a job, and I do not know how I will be able to pay my bills. I just missed out on so many opportunities and I wanted to be able to do an internship before I graduate because it is extremely important to have that work experience on my resume related to software development. It makes it a lot easier to get a job after graduation having that work experience from an internship. I know I must take risks sometimes, so I do hope this pans out the way I want too. I am doing the best I can in life but sometimes it seems like I can never catch a break. I maintain a 4.0 GPA even though I have to work full time and go to college full time. Life has not been easy, but I will never give up on my dreams and I will work as hard as I need too in order to have a better future. Getting this funding would help me so much and I would be so grateful for it.
