I am a Muslim father, husband, son and brother. I am also an orphan. I have two small children and a wife. I bear all the expenses of my family. Sometimes, I felt overwhelmed by the economic distress and financial hardship in pursuing my Ph.D. program. I pray five times every day and try to live the life our Prophet Hazrat Mohammad Sallahwalai Assalam guided us. I am currently a final-year doctoral student of North Carolina State University (NCSU) and expect to graduate in May 2022. My major is Civil (Geotechnical) Engineer. My research topic is to evaluate offshore foundation systems for Ocean renewable energy (i.e. Marine Hydrokinetics) devices. I have performed field and laboratory tests as well as numerical modeling to study the effectiveness of different offshore anchoring systems and develop a “novel” system, i.e. Micropile foundation systems for this system. I have published several articles in the journals. My poster presentation was awarded best presenter in the fifth annual conference of Ocean Renewable Energy Conference at Outer Banks of North Carolina. My research work contributed to the society's wellness and benefitted the local government in developing new technologies for future generation. Recently, my daughter was diagnosed with focal epilepsy. She is only four years old. It is exceedingly difficult for me and my family to cope with complicated diseases. We did several tests (EEG, MRI, etc.), doctor visits, and all those cost me over $10,000 after insurance coverage. Therefore, as the only earning person of four family members, it's extreme stress and worries for me. I sometimes felt very depressed, and I was not sure how to overcome the situation. However, I kept my faith in God and prayed to him for the recovery of my daughter. I have considered the present situation as an exam from the supreme power to me for my dedication to him and my faith as well as patience. The good news is that my prayer has been accepted and my daughter is recovering gradually. I am positive with my faith that I will be able to overcome the present stressful time and will be able to complete my Ph.D. and will be able to support my family. However, I need a financial assistantship to fulfill my dream, and that's why I am applying for this scholarship. I will be grateful to the organization if they select me for this scholarship and support me in my education.

I am a final year doctoral student of North Carolina State University (NCSU) and expect to graduate in May 2022. Therefore, as an only earning person of four family members, it's extreme stress and worries for me.

Therefore, as an only earning person of four family members, it's extreme stress and worries for me.

Therefore, as an only earning person of four family members, it's extreme stress and worries for me.

Therefore, as an only earning person of four family members, it's extreme stress and worries for me.

We did a several tests (EEG, MRI etc.), doctor visit and also hospitalization. All those diagonize exam and starting treatment cost me over $5000 and as an only earning person of four family members its a huge stress for me. I sometimes felt very deppressed and I was not sure how to overcome the situation. I kept my faith to the God (Allah) and prayed to him. I am seeing this as an exam from the supreme power for the faith and patience. I try to think the half-glass water as an optimistic way that half is remaining to fill-up instead thinking half is empty. I am positive with the faith and proper treatment I will be able to overcome the present stressful time and will be able to complete my Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and be successful in life with supporting my family.
