I am a high school senior with Puerto Rican heritage. I have a strong desire to continue my family’s legacy in aviation. Flight is not only a goal but a true passion of mine. At only 17 years of age, I earned my Private Pilots license. It was a lot of hard work especially while balancing school and a part-time job, but I still achieved my first step in my journey. I have a long, tough, and expensive road ahead of me but I’m ready to give it my all and accomplish my dreams.
I currently attend a technical high school, where I am learning the tricks of the trade of carpentry. Through this program, I have been able to compete in the SkillsUSA cabinetmaking competition on the state level. I now work part-time for a large general contractor in my area. It is not easy work. But I know that it's only going to benefit me in the long run. I am trying to save as much money as I can from this job so I can help fund my flight training.
Ever since middle school I have had an entrepreneurial spirit. I started walking dogs in my neighborhood at the age of 12. Then, at the age of 14, I started a landscaping business with some of my closest friends. I learned how to work hard starting at a young age.
At the age of just 3 years old, my father strapped a pair of skis to my feet for the first time. Ever since then, I have been a ski bum. It's a wonderful activity where you can enjoy the great outdoors, get exercise, and spend quality time with friends and family. For how often I ski in the winter, one could consider the snowy green mountains of Vermont to be my second home.
