Bio

My name is Marvin Price and my life goals are to become a fashion designer. I am passionate about fashion and trying to encourage others to do what they want no matter what others say. My mother's passing has inspired me to reach towards my goals even further despite what comes in my way. I am a great candidate because of my drive and once I begin to perform a task, the likelihood I stop dwindles drastically.

Everyone wants to change the world in some way, whether big or small. It all depends on how we do it and what we do to get there. My name is Marvin Price, I am 17 from Detroit, Michigan, and I will change the world by becoming a fashion designer who can make life easier for all children. My mother was the biggest inspiration for me, and when she passed, my drive to become successful in the fashion industry only grew. My goal is to become to other people what my mother was to me, a caretaker, a mentor, and an inspiration. My desire to help change the world stems not just from my late mothers passing but from witnessing with my own eyes what children experience these days that are not acknowledged by most older people. Because of this, I will strive to be a sort of influencer and voice for most children and a fashion designer. To do this, I will have to do the best I can while in college in Georgia to move towards my goal. With the assistance of a bachelor's degree in fashion design, I can launch out into the real world faster and put myself on the correct route towards my goals. However, what comes after college is not solely going to support me. I must also do my part while I am studying as well. For example, I will require the assistance of any mentors I come across on my road to becoming a fashion designer. The additional mentorship would grant me an edge in not only the production aspect of being a fashion designer but the business side of it as well. While attending college, I will also build upon my skillset when it comes to the production of my clothing. It will allow me to fabricate more complex pieces and develop my own unique style in addition to the clothing I have already created. I can further the basis on which my creative process stems from and appeal to a much broader audience, both male and female. Furthermore, along with assisting me in building up my portfolio, my goals will also require support from those who are like-minded. So, in other words, I will need connections. To become a fashion designer, and a successful one at that, I must build connections with the right people in the right places, and where I plan to attend college, in Georgia, is a prime location to begin. Many people who became successful in the arts, whether visual or performing, came from the Georgia area because of the ease of access to like-minded individuals who share similar interests. The fashion market there, in places like the Atlanta Apparel Market, is great for initiating a brand or branching out of the state itself and making connections through what I will learn in college whether socially, or regarding business. Pursuing my goals in a place like Georgia ensures that I will be placed on the proper path towards them. This degree will allow me an edge on others and employment in my desired field quicker. I will also be taken more seriously and given more credibility when it comes to designing clothes and inputting my opinion regarding fashion brands' clothing pieces. In the end, along with helping children globally, I want to assist in rebuilding the community that shaped me into who I am today. As a kid, there was not much support among younger children, and most were silenced or ignored. I will nurture a community where I can encourage those to pursue a career in which they are passionate about, whether it is in the arts or not. A group where no one feels pressured to become someone they are not comfortable with, and I can prepare them the best I can for the future the same way my mom did, no matter what the journey entails. But I shall also become that voice for those children who may be afraid to speak up or those who were not supported the best way they could have. I want to suit the role of an advocate for children and matters that are important to them that many adults may not pay much attention to relating to children. To become the change in which I wish I had in my childhood community is what I will push towards in my life. The degree will allow me an edge on others and employment in my desired field quicker.
