I would be a good candidate because I'm young and ambitious and don't pass on a good opportunity. I'm going to receive my high school diploma and associates degree at the same time at only the age of 17. I would use my education to teach children that the world would not work without art. I would also help them in personal issues whether it be at home or at school.

I have enrolled and have already been accepted to Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas. It is an accredited school and was specifically built to teach future teachers. It has a renowned teaching program and offers a major in Art Education, which I applied for. I am seventeen years old and graduating from an early college high school that offers the ability to graduate with a High School Diploma and Associate's Degree. Due to my rigorous school, I had to give up all extracurricular activities including art. Along with late nights studying, I would make time to practice drawing and painting because it is a stress reliever and processes emotions I can not put into words.
Growing up I always had a passion for art and would when asked "What do you want to be when you grow up?" I would answer an artist enthusiastically. Teachers were glad I had a hobby but sucked in air through their teeth when I told them I wanted to be an artist. I heard this response a lot and tried to convince myself to find a more "productive and realistic" passion, but instead, I kept coming back to my first love: the arts.
As a teacher, I will teach my students that art is a viable, realistic career and that when asked "what do you wanna be when you grow up?", they will be proud to say an artist.
