My goal is to use technology to make a positive impact on society. I've always been fascinated by how things work, which led me from a career in physical therapy to studying IT and Computer Science.
I love engineering because it solves problems and creates new solutions. Transitioning from physical therapy to IT allowed me to use technology to help people in different ways. I enjoy understanding complex systems and using this knowledge to improve lives.
I’m a great candidate because of my diverse background and hands-on experience. I started with courses in C++, .NET, and JavaScript. I developed a discord bot to track sports players, which notifies users in real-time and handles multiple users at once. This project improved my coding skills and taught me how to create user-friendly software.
I also worked at two aerospace companies, making parts for different aeronautical programs. These jobs required precision and teamwork with engineers to meet high standards. This experience showed me the importance of engineering in creating safe and reliable technology.
My journey from physical therapy to IT and computer science has been a continuous learning process. My experiences, from developing software to making aeronautical parts, have prepared me well for a career in engineering. I’m excited to keep learning and contribute to engineering by creating innovative solutions to real-world problems. This scholarship will help me reach my goals and make a meaningful impact in the engineering field.

Chris Jackson Computer Science Education Scholarship
From a young age, my fascination with technology has been a driving force in my life. Growing up in a community where access to technology was limited, I often found myself captivated by the possibilities it offered. This curiosity quickly turned into a deep passion for IT and software development. I spent countless hours on personal projects and troubleshooting tasks, gaining hands-on experience and teaching myself programming languages like .NET and JavaScript.
My journey toward a computer science degree began as I transitioned from a background in aerospace fabrication to IT. This change was challenging but immensely rewarding. Enrolling in a Computer Science transfer program honed my technical skills and problem-solving abilities. My experiences have taught me perseverance, dedication to problem-solving, and a drive to innovate, all of which are crucial traits for a successful career in technology.
My ultimate goal is to use my degree to make a meaningful impact in the field of IT, particularly by making technology more accessible to underrepresented communities. I envision myself working in a role where I can develop solutions that bridge the digital divide, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to benefit from technological advancements. A dream job for me would be a position that combines my technical expertise with my passion for community service, such as a role in a non-profit organization focused on tech education or an IT consultant for community programs.
I am the best candidate for the Chris Jackson Computer Science Education Scholarship because of my unwavering commitment to my goals and proven ability to overcome obstacles. My background in aerospace taught me the importance of precision and reliability, while my volunteer work as a Physical Therapy Aide highlighted the value of empathy and support. These experiences have prepared me to tackle the challenges of a computer science career with determination and compassion.
Receiving this scholarship would not only alleviate the financial burden of my education but also bring me one step closer to fulfilling my dream of making a difference in the world through technology. Chris Jackson’s legacy deeply inspires me and hope to honor it by using my skills and education to create positive change.
Thank you for considering my application. I am eager to continue my journey in computer science and contribute to the field in a meaningful way.
