I am a great candidate for a scholarship because I do not believe in wasting education. I plan on using my education to not only further the lives of me and my loved ones but to also invest in my community and my city so that one day my hometown of St. Louis isn’t just looked at as a ghetto but a place where people can go to pursue the things they love. I want St. Louis to be an economic hub like other cities such as Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta and I feel that furthering my education will help grant me the tools to do so.

At the tender age of eight, my passion for music ignited within me. My mother, an fan of many musical genres, frequently delighted us with her favorite tunes, notably hip-hop and old school R&B. It was during one of these car rides that my mom decided to play a random mixtape. Suddenly, the song "Alright" by Kendrick Lamar reverberated through the speakers, and in that moment, everything changed. It's difficult to articulate the profound impact it had on me; it was as if my perception of music had been profoundly altered. While I had always appreciated music like any ordinary person, this particular song enraptured me, especially the genre of hip-hop.
The year was 2015, and Kendrick Lamar's highly acclaimed album, "To Pimp a Butterfly," had just been released. To my delight, for my ninth birthday, my aunt gifted me this very album. I delved into it wholeheartedly, playing it countless times. I became so enamored with the album that it reached a point where my cousins and even my mom would jest about my propensity for controlling the radio. From that point onward, I became an avid fan of Kendrick Lamar. Through this newfound admiration, my love and fervor for music and hip-hop burgeoned. I spent years self-educating and delving into various aspects of music, including rap, songwriting, music production, and audio engineering.
During my time in middle school, I joined the marching band as a percussionist and snare drummer. Surprisingly, I excelled in this endeavor, and it provided me with a unique insight. I learned to integrate my percussion knowledge into my music production and songwriting. My two greatest inspirations in the realm of music are Kendrick Lamar and my aspiration to achieve a stature akin to his. I firmly believe that through my music and actions, I can contribute to making the world a better place and educate future generations.
As a result of this formative journey, I have come to realize that music is not just a mere arrangement of sounds; it possesses the potential to evoke emotions, provoke thoughts, and impart meaningful messages. This realization has kindled a fire within me, propelling me towards my aspirations with unwavering determination and pride.
In my pursuit of artistic excellence, I aim not only to hone my craft but also to harness the influence of music to effect positive change in the world. I fervently believe that through my music, I can impart valuable lessons, advocate for societal progress, and inspire future generations to embrace compassion, empathy, and understanding.
My unwavering dedication to music can be encapsulated by the following words: I am a torchbearer of rhythm, a weaver of words, and an advocate of harmony. It is through this profound love for music that I intend to leave an indelible mark on the world and cultivate a legacy that resonates with the hearts and minds of many.
I plan on studying music production and audio arts at Columbia College Chicago.

Since I was eight I have loved music, especially hip-hop. My love comes from hearing a man named Kendrick Lamar rap even at that age I felt the impact of his message and music, he didn't make music just to sell he made music for his soul and for the souls of everyone that listened and it still sounded great. I want to have the impact that he had on me but greater. I feel like we live in an age where critical thinking and education are lacking and I want to use music and its influence to change that. Also, I want to use my music to promote mental health awareness and advertise for the youth to stay away from crime as much as possible. One long-term idea I've had for that is when I get enough money to start small businesses in low-income areas for the sake of hiring the youth so that people who don't have access to resources that people in higher income communities can use me as a catalyst to gain that access and grow their income without having to turn to any illegal activity.
