Bio

My goal is to become a child advocate. I am currently pursuing further education in Social work and Early Childhood. I want to help change the world, positively impact children, and help them heal from trauma and other situational challenges. I was a drug-affected baby who was told I was going to have severe challenges and that I would never succeed in life and wouldn't survive all the harsh drugs I was on as an infant. I am so honored to be here today. I made it here. mostly on my own with very little help, I am seeking scholarship money to help make my dreams come true. Thank you so much for considering me.

    Stephan L. Wolley Memorial Scholarship
I have chosen social work as my major because of the deep passion for making a positive impact on the lives of others. Throughout my life, I have been driven by my sense of empathy and a genuine desire to contribute to the well-being of individuals and communities facing challenges. My mom did drugs and drank alcohol when she was pregnant so I developed neonatal abstinence syndrome. As a result of that, I have BPD, Anxiety, depression, Anxiety, OCD, and ADHD. After a lot of detoxing from the drugs at birth, I was put into foster care. I was told I was very sick and they didn't have hope that I would live a normal life. , but currently, I have graduated high school, and soon I will have my AA in child development and a couple of years have my bachelors in social work then move on to grad school. Social work provides me with the tools and knowledge to turn the passion and hurt into a fulfilling and impactful career. A huge part of social work is advocacy. I am a huge advocate for children with mental illness and my biggest goal in life is to bring awareness and help kids in need. I have personally struggled with my mental health but I believe it helps me connect with children and relate to what they are going through. I truly believe it's my calling. All I want to do is make a difference in children's lives, invest in them and help them be the best possible versions of themselves. I am hoping to open my facility one day where children can go that have extreme behavioral challenges. I want to end suicide in children and help bring awareness to mental health. My ability to be a problem solver stems from my understanding of the complexities of social systems and how they impact specific people. I work to break down barriers that support inequality and speak up for those who might not have a voice. Another important consideration in my choice is social work's increased flexibility. Social work is a wide field that includes dealing with mental health concerns, community development, and working with children and families. In addition, the field of social work takes an incredible amount of resilience, emotional intelligence, and communication skills. These qualities are beneficial to many areas of life in addition to being essential to the practice of social work. Building solid connections with a variety of people and communities encourages empathy and teamwork, which are qualities that are beneficial in both personal and professional contexts.Deciding to pursue social work is an investment in my own development. Without doubt, the challenges in this line of work will strengthen my capacity to handle challenging circumstances, solve problems successfully, and maintain empathy and compassion. These qualities, in my opinion, are crucial for success in the social work field as well as for my general future growth and development as a thriving person. After all, I truly believe every struggle I have ever been through has led me to this point in life and all I want to do is help others. Social work is not just a job but a lifelong commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.

I want to graduate with my bachelor's in social work and also specializes in child development. My goal is to advocate, I have seen how the public schools run things and sometimes how they treat certain children and I have a burning fire in my heart to help change the world. I am hoping to open my own facility one day where kids with severe behavioral challenges can go and be safe and where they would be many different providers there and resources for families that may not know how to help these children, I want to be the voice for kids who may not have one. I can’t put my finger on exactly what I want to do but I know I will figure it out, one step at a time. I just need financial help to get there. Thank you so much for any consideration you may have or help you may give for my journey.

My mom did drugs when I was in her tummy so I grew up with extreme mental illness. I have BPD, Anxiety, depression, Anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and OCD. All were diagnosed and extremely difficult. I was adopted after a while and was told I would never make it. I am now pursuing social work to try and educate people on Pediatric Mental health. I am a huge advocate for children with mental illness and my biggest goal in life is to bring awareness and help kids in need. I know I am personally experienced with mental health but I want to further my education so I can reach more children. I recently lost my brother who was more like a father to me. It was extremely hard but I knew I had to keep going. I struggle with extreme mental health challenges due to my birth mother being a drug user and suffering some severe complications that have affected me today. Not to sit and say pour me, but I don't know how I made it here. It has been a long road but I feel like my life hasn't even gotten started. I have big dreams and a huge drive. My passion is for kids who have special needs specifically behavioral challenges, I feel that I have a gift because I have experienced a lot of kids with mental health challenges or children who have different special needs. I am applying here because I am hoping to get my bachelor's in Psychology and major in Child development as well. I have been at NIC for the last couple of years trying to get my AS in Child development. I am motivated and ready to pursue this education, but I need help funding it. I want to help kids and families and just love them. I have become a Registered Behavioral Technician under the board of Applied Behavior Analysis, I got my Academic Certificate for Child Development at North Idaho College. I have my CPR certification and have been trained in crisis protection intervention. I have attended conferences for mental health and disability advocacy. I have been in ABA Therapy for the past three tears with ongoing training and hands-on experience taking data collection and working to help children with disabilities. I have been working in a professional environment with other providers to ensure I am giving the children the proper care they deserve. I will soon have my associate's in child development and hope to be finding the right college to pursue my bachelor's in psychology and major in child development to hopefully become an advocate for children with disabilities. I want to graduate with my bachelor's in social work and also specializes in child development.
