Bio

Senior Class of 2025 @ Collierville High School! I'm an active member in my school's theatre department by designing/creating/sewing the costumes for our productions as well as by working backstage during shows in any/every way that I can! The productions I've done costumes for-along with my co-designer(s) and costume assistants over the years- would include: Anastasia (this was my very first show with CHS doing costumes! This was our big spring musical theatre production back in 2023/when I was in 10th grade), Merrily We Roll Along (my 2nd show! One of my most favorite shows ever out of all of the ones I've worked on so far!!!), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (this was my 3rd show, I was in 11th grade/performed earlier this year(2024)/late-February into early-March), "Is He Dead?"(my 4th show and my 1st ever in-the-round dinner theatre show I've done! It was wonderful and was performed this near the end of April 2024/I was finishing up 11th grade), and the most recent show I've done costumes for was Madagascar Jr. (my 5th show and my first children's show that I've done at my school and this was back in September/I was starting my 12th grade year when I did this show [and I actually had two shows on my birthday that I worked right after taking the ACT only about an hour before the 2 p.m show was to start] )

    Marie Humphries Memorial Scholarship
I am excited to begin my journey majoring in English Literature, complemented by a minor in K-12 Education. My aspirations extend beyond the undergraduate level; I plan to pursue a master’s degree and ultimately aim for a doctorate or postdoctoral degree. My heartfelt dream is to engage students by teaching English Literature and Creative Writing in high school, eventually transitioning to the collegiate level, where I hope to inspire the next generation of thinkers and creators. At one time, I thought my path was in history due to my fascination with the past. However, as I grew older, I discovered a deeper connection with younger students and found my true passion in nurturing their creativity. This realization didn't lessen my love for English Literature, Chemistry, Biology, and History; rather, it redirected my focus to a secondary school setting. Here, I can dive into my passions for writing, reading, and storytelling, with English Literature at the heart of my ambitions. High school is a crucial time for young minds, especially during those transformative years from 9th to 12th grade. Students begin to navigate the complexities of adulthood while confronting the realities of becoming legal adults at the tender age of 17 or even younger upon graduation. The high school experience is more than just a farewell to graduating seniors; it marks the beginning of their next journey. By nurturing creativity and acknowledging their emotions, we can build meaningful relationships with these young individuals. The quiet student in the back may one day become a passionate leader, an Olympic champion, or a gifted writer. My goal is to leave a positive impact on my students and guide them as they navigate their unique paths in life. I have a clear vision of how my academic journey will unfold: I aim to major in English Literature and minor in K-12 Education, aspiring toward a master’s degree and ultimately laying the groundwork for a doctorate or postdoctoral degree. My focus on teaching English Literature and Creative Writing in a high school setting will eventually pave the way for my transition into college-level instruction. At one point, I believed my calling was to teach history to high school students. However, after reflection and experience, I found a stronger connection with younger children. This realization deepened my appreciation for the subjects that shaped me—English Literature, Chemistry, Biology, and History. Now, I am drawn back to a secondary school environment, ready to share my passion for writing, reading, and storytelling. English Literature truly resonates with my spirit and purpose. In high school, particularly during those pivotal years, students embark on the journey of confronting the responsibilities and challenges of adulthood. They bravely step into a world filled with opportunities and uncertainties, often just as they reach the age of 17 or even younger at graduation. High school is not just about saying goodbye to graduating seniors; it’s about embracing their journeys ahead. We must equip them for success by nurturing their minds and validating their emotions. The quiet student in the back may become a visionary leader, an Olympic champion, or a talented author. My hope is to leave a positive and lasting impact on my students as they navigate their unique paths. I acknowledge that life can take unexpected turns, but I remain dedicated to my purpose as a teacher. I’m committed to a sustainable pace to avoid burnout and cherish every moment spent sharing knowledge with the next generation. Teaching is truly one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

I imagine my future to be where I'm able to deeply engage with the vibrant realm of English literature, with the intention of majoring in this enthralling discipline while also pursuing a minor in K-12 education. This foundational journey will pave the way for my pursuit of a master’s degree and potentially a doctorate or postdoctoral studies, ultimately leading me to a career as an educator or professor specializing in my chosen field. My goal is to ignite a passion for English literature and creative writing in high school students, and to carry that enthusiasm into the realm of higher education. Initially, my interest was in teaching history, a subject I greatly admire. However, after reflecting on my experiences, I discovered that my true passion lies in fostering connections with students through the joys of reading and writing. This realization drives my commitment to share knowledge in subjects that inspire me—English literature and history—while nurturing an environment where curiosity and creativity can flourish. During the pivotal high school years, students navigate the complexities of growing up, facing an increasingly demanding world just beyond graduation. This transitional period offers a profound opportunity to guide and empower them. By nurturing their creativity and validating their emotions, I aim to forge strong, lasting relationships that resonate throughout their lives. A quiet student seated in the corner of my classroom could very well become a future president, an Olympic medalist, a celebrated author, or an inspiring teacher—each influenced by the meaningful connections we share. While the education profession encompasses a multitude of challenges, including the intricate task of addressing diverse learning needs and fostering vibrant student engagement. Despite these complexities, my unwavering dedication to education remains my guiding force. I wholeheartedly embrace the opportunity to inspire a genuine passion for learning and the art of storytelling as I embark on a transformative journey alongside the curious and eager minds of future generations. In this role, I actively seek to cultivate a sense of fulfillment and purpose by building meaningful connections with my students, taking the time to deeply understand their individual needs and the unique challenges they face. My commitment lies in making a lasting impact in their lives, guiding them with care and support as they navigate their paths toward personal growth and success.
