Hi! I am currently enrolled at Southern Regional Tech in Georgia. Right now, I am working on my nursing degree with hopes to attain certification and specialization in Dementia care. My goal is to work with families of dementia patients, in both home and clinical settings to provide the care their loved ones need. Ultimately I plan to become a Certified Dementia Care Practioner after nursing school so I can better care for our elderly population.

Caring for others has always been my passion! I am currently working for two local home health agencies as a geriatric home health aide, providing personal care for our elderly. Additionally, I work in the memory care unit in a local facility, helping to provide for the daily needs of dementia patients. I would love to be able to provide higher levels of skilled care and plan to seek an LPN diploma. Furthermore, I eventually plan to return to school for my RN degree. There are a variety of work settings for nurses- I would like to continue working as I do now, in either home health or in memory care unit at an assisted living facility. Post-Covid pandemic, there is a major shortage of healthcare workers in general, but nursing especially. Health care is a critical need, throughout our country and the world. We cannot let our population continue to have this shortage- it is integral that we continue to provide top-notch care. Shortages lead to a series of issues - rushing through patient visits (which makes our patients feel unimportant), charting mistakes, overbooking, miscommunication, and an overall lack of quality towards our patients. The demand for healthcare continues to rise as our population in the United States grows. The healthcare needs of all people must be met with compassion and equality throughout our country. Mental health is a continually expanding topic in our society, and I am certain that memory care disorders will continue to be seen.
What better time for me to return to school and further my education? There are so many people who urgently need care and/or aid, not only in my community but throughout Georgia. I would love to be able to provide the utmost quality of care to these patients. Without my nursing certification, I am limited right now in what I can provide, and that is honestly frustrating to me as a caregiver. I know I am capable of more than what I am able to offer these patients right now! After I complete the LPN program, I am hopeful that I will be able to also complete certification as a Dementia practitioner, as this is my specialty area. Specialization and certification will allow for more appropriate methods and means of care. I believe I can and will make a difference in my community with the achievement of a nursing degree. What an honor it is to be able to serve this precious, elderly population! Thank you for considering my application!
