My name is Lori, I grew up all over the country and other parts of the world. I have lived in Portugal, Puerto Rico, and many states, such as Florida, Mississippi, Delaware, Virginia, and a few more. It was difficult as a child to leave your friends and change schools every 3 years and sometimes after 1 year. Dad retired in 1993 and we moved to West Virginia where he grew up.
I have chosen to pursue a degree in Human Resources Management because I worked as an assistant for many years and enjoy the aspect s of helping employees either reach their goals or to make sure they had help with paperwork when needed for insurance, 401K, and more. I love working with other people and getting to know a lot of diverse people. I suffer from major depression and anxiety which at times makes it difficult to get through the day both because of the ups and downs and also the medications I have to take. People treat you differently when you have a mental illness and because of that, I would hope to help others not feel less than others because of a condition that is beyond their control.
I am considering minoring in Psychology but in order to do so I must find some financial assistance, therefore this scholarship could assist me in my dreams of helping others with mental illness feel like they fit in.
