My college education is everything to me. My college education is my future. From a young age, my mother always told me her biggest regret in life was that she dropped out of college before graduating. She told me about the struggles that she faced being a college dropout and told me how limited her options were. It was hard for her in her 20s she had to work 3 jobs just to get by. She always made it so clear to me that it was something that she never wanted for me and something that I never wanted for myself. Now that I am in college I see that I am learning so much more than just what I am studying. I am learning things about who I am and the kind of person that I want to be. College is teaching me about the people that I want to surround myself with and the type of leader that I am. Since beginning college, I have joined a sorority, and little did I know at the time the number of opportunities that my organization would present to me. I attended a world-class leadership training from the Walt Disney Leadership Institue, I have joined several committees and made friends I would have never made before, I took on the role of my chapters Vice President of Membership Recruitment, and attended leadership training from Alpha Phi international in Chicago. These opportunities have set me up for my future in a different way than my classes. Beyond all of the things that I have learned about myself, the things I am learning in my classes are so valuable. A college education is so different than my education in high school. Here at the University of Iowa, I am encouraged to think differently and try to solve problems in ways I would maybe have never thought to do before. I take my education extremely seriously and this University has pushed me to continue with that. I just recently got accepted into my university's College of Business and that may be one of my proudest accomplishments. I am so lucky to be able to attend college and it is something that I encourage everyone who has the opportunity to go. The things that I have learned here are things you can learn nowhere else. I am so grateful for my college education, and I don't know what I would do without it.
