3LAU "Everything" Scholarship
My "everything" is my music. It's the lyrics I use to tell stories. It's the melodies that accompany those lyrics to convey emotions. It's the way that music is an outlet for me to express those emotions. I could write songs about people I adore or a hobby I enjoy, but neither of those are my "everything", because my "everything" is the music itself.
Music is my outlet. Whether I'm making it or just listening to it, music provides a way for me to connect to my emotions, to understand those emotions and process them. Not only can I see myself reflected in music, but I can create songs that other people resonate with as well.
This song, give the girl a bouquet, is about having a crush and being in love. And while my crush isn't my "everything", I can express this universal feeling of having a crush or being in love through lyrics and melodies, and that expression of emotion is my "everything".
Austin Kramer Music-Maker Scholarship
I wrote give the girl a bouquet right when I met my crush. My crush and I had an inside joke that he was going to give me flowers when we met up in person to hang out; and so, one day I was sitting in my bedroom, ukulele in hand, and I came up with a few lyrics based on our inside joke. I really liked what I had written, so I decided to write a full song and release it!
Bold Moments No-Essay Scholarship
Sitting in bed, a comfortable, familiar place, with my acoustic guitar resting in my arms, I strum a few chords. Lyrics and melodies rush to me and I eagerly jump out of bed in search of a pen and paper. Soon, I've written and recorded and EP's worth of songs. I send my vocal recordings to a good friend of mine to produce the songs. Over the course of a few months, we create a complete EP titled Epilogue. This series of songs, however, cannot be fully complete without the cover art, so we took a few pictures.
