My dream is to be a Park Ranger for the National Parks Service. My undergraduate studies in English with a minor in Education will allow for me to serve as an excellent communicator and educator in this field. I love working with and for the public, with a special place in my heart for working with children. I hope to work in the NPS as an educator of land history and conservation. I am a first-generation college graduate and I come from a large military family. I currently hold two jobs and I am taking a full class load. I hope to receive scholarships to assist in the completion of my degree so that I can move forward toward my dreams.

Every writer desires to have their voice heard and their work immortalized. While I am not immune from these desires, I have other motivations. I have a strong desire to create works of literature that redirect my readers to God. I have an affinity for crafting fantastical pieces of flash fiction, often taking inspiration from the teachings of Jesus and the parables mentioned in the New Testament. I could care less if my name is memorialized and remembered after I am gone from this life. I care that my works accurately depict the promises of God and a glimpse at what lies in store for all those who believe in Him.
I was raised in a Christian household that placed a heavy priority on embodying Christ and serving others. Throughout my childhood, I have always had an affinity for writing and creating other worlds to explore. C.S. Lewis was a staple in my household and The Chronicles of Narnia series was a heavy inspiration for my works. I was inspired by Lewis's ability to create this wonderful other world while still incorporating Biblical themes. Using Narnia as inspiration, I tried to emulate a new fantasy world in my old style. It did not work out like I expected, but I was also ten so I am giving myself some grace. Through this hopeless attempt at recreation, I could create my fantasy style. This took many years, and even at twenty-two, I am nowhere near perfect or finished developing my voice.
As I have started to explore my writing in an academic setting in my college classes, I have found so much validation in my work. I love presenting my creative writing to my professors and peers and learning from what they glean from my work. I have been told that my writing is incredibly creative and powerful, and those words of affirmation mean the world to me. I have been through many dark nights and bright days, and both literature and the word of God have helped me through those times. When I become a published author, I hope that my writing can act as a point of rest and connection. It is so easy to feel alone when we are struggling. I hope that my writing, even though it is creative fiction, can help redirect the reader's focus back to the true peace in life: God. My writing might not change the world or pass the test of time like the myriad of great authors, but my dream is that my writing could help change one life or bring one soul back to God. By offering a means of literary escape into a fantasy world saturated with the teachings of Jesus, I hope that my writing can help one more person come to know God in a deep, relational way. And that one person is all the difference to me.
