I had to mature, and grow up much faster than most kids, and friends I know. Being the oldest girl in the house, I took on the role of the cooking, cleaning, and caring for my siblings while my mom was at work. I had to step up, and be the help, by bringing my sibling to, and from school, watching them while she's at work, making dinner for the house, taking them to doctors appointments, and more. I've never appreciated an experience more, though it taught me lessons I would've never learned if I had just been hanging out with my friends everyday. Through the process I learned what it was like to manage my time, and have major responsibilities like grocery shopping, and making sure everyone eats before sleep. While walking down the brightly lit isles comparing prices of the cereals while thinking in the back of my head, about the football game taking place, and missing every touchdown. Feeling down that I can't experience the fun like all the other kids, but feeling grateful I get to help my mom when she needs it most. Having to make sure everyone eats before they go to bed seems so simple, but people don’t think about what it took to prepare the food on the table. Washing the dishes so you have a clean plate to eat on, and the labor it took to chop the food, and cook it, then plate it. At times I often had a hard time managing my time for myself, and just being a “kid”, since it's okay to do that, too. Every week I would find time to hang out with my friends, or just go to a restaurant one day, so I could have time around people I could vent to, just relax, and laugh a little. Often we go to dinner one day a week, and we choose between our three favorite spots Texas Road house which I only go for the bread, and butter, or Titos it's a small, family owned mexican joint that's so good, and authentic, and you can't forget about ihop with their fluffy pancakes at anytime in the day…. Sounds like a good time to me. We can sit in the booths for hours talking while we enjoy our three course meal but skip dessert because we are too stuffed from the two appetizers we order, and our meals, and i'm not much of a dessert person. After I leave school everyday I go straight to the daycare, and I work till about five everyday. I love my job, the babies have their own little personalities, and it's a life-experiencing thing to see them grow every week. It can often be stressful, and feel impossible at times to take care of eight babies at one time, especially when they all need to eat at once and you only have two hands. But at the end of the day, seeing them joyful, and so thrilled to see their parents at pickup is what’s most gratifying. I like to stay busy with school, and work, but also manage my schedule so I have time to develop my thoughts, and just enjoy my own time.
