Pursuing a Biology major with a minor in Spanish is the perfect path for me as I work towards becoming a Physician Assistant (PA). This academic combination not only provides me with a strong foundation in human biology and medical sciences but also equips me with the skills to connect with a diverse range of patients. Understanding subjects like anatomy, physiology, and pathology is essential for diagnosing and treating patients effectively. Meanwhile, the Spanish minor will allow me to communicate more effectively with Spanish-speaking patients, enhancing the quality of care I can provide.
My dedication to becoming a PA has been significantly shaped by my volunteer experience with UF VolunTEEN. Volunteering at the hospital gave me invaluable hands-on experience and exposed me to the realities of patient care. One particular interaction stands out in my memory: I had the opportunity to speak with an elderly Spanish-speaking woman who was undergoing treatment. The ability to communicate with her in her native language made her feel more comfortable and understood. This experience was a turning point for me, as it highlighted how crucial effective communication is in patient care and deepened my desire to help others.
The Spanish minor is especially important to me because it will enable me to provide more personalized care to Spanish-speaking patients. Many patients feel more at ease when they can communicate in their native language, which can significantly impact their overall experience and comfort level. By being bilingual, I can build stronger, more trusting relationships with these patients, ensuring they feel heard and respected. This ability to connect on a deeper level will allow me to deliver care that is not only medically effective but also culturally sensitive and empathetic.
In addition to improving patient interactions, my Spanish skills will help me bridge communication gaps and work more effectively with diverse patient populations. Effective communication is essential for accurately understanding patients' needs and providing appropriate treatment. Being able to converse with patients in their native language will enhance my ability to gather accurate information and offer high-quality care.
In summary, my studies in Biology, combined with a Spanish minor and my volunteer experiences, have reinforced my aspiration to become a PA. The opportunity to integrate my scientific knowledge with my passion for helping others and providing culturally competent care is incredibly motivating. I am excited about using my skills and experiences to make a meaningful impact in healthcare. My goal is to address communication barriers, deliver compassionate care, and contribute positively to the field of medicine. Becoming a PA represents the perfect blend of my academic interests and personal values, and I am eager to make a difference in the lives of my future patients.

GUTS- Olivia Rodrigo Fan Scholarship
A lyric from Olivia Rodrigo’s album ‘GUTS’ that really hits home for me right now is:
“I’m still in the process of becoming.”
As a ballet dancer, I’m finding myself in a pretty tough spot lately. The intense training, the constant drive to perfect my technique, and the pressure to excel have led to a significant amount of burnout. Some days, it feels like I’m stuck in a never-ending cycle of exhaustion and frustration. I work hard every day, but sometimes it seems like I’m not making any real progress, and that can be really discouraging.
This lyric from Olivia Rodrigo really resonates with me because it captures exactly what I’m feeling. It’s a reminder that personal growth and improvement don’t happen overnight. Being “in the process of becoming” reassures me that it’s okay to be in a tough phase where progress feels slow and the journey seems endless. It’s comforting to remember that feeling stuck or burned out is just part of the ongoing process of developing myself, not a sign that I’m failing.
The lyric helps me shift my perspective on my struggles. Instead of seeing my burnout and setbacks as failures, I’m learning to view them as integral parts of my growth. Every challenging rehearsal, every day of pushing through exhaustion, is helping me become a better dancer. It might not always feel like it, but these experiences are contributing to my overall development and making me stronger.
Understanding that I’m “still in the process of becoming” also encourages me to be patient with myself. Perfection isn’t something that happens instantly; it’s a continuous journey of learning and improvement. This mindset helps me cope with burnout by focusing on the progress I’m making, even if it’s slow. It’s about recognizing that every effort I put in, no matter how small, is helping me grow as an artist and a person.
This lyric also motivates me to stay committed to ballet, despite the challenges. When I’m feeling down or overwhelmed, remembering that I’m in the middle of a growth process gives me the strength to keep going. It reminds me that every difficult moment is a step toward becoming the dancer I want to be. Embracing this idea helps me maintain my passion and resilience, even when things get tough.
In conclusion, “I’m still in the process of becoming” has been a powerful reminder for me during this challenging time. It helps me manage burnout by giving me perspective and encouraging me to keep pushing forward. By understanding that growth is a continuous journey, I’m learning to navigate the difficulties of being a dancer and staying dedicated to my goals.

I’m a huge fan of LeBron James because his relentless determination and work ethic are incredibly inspiring. Watching him excel on the court, it’s clear that he’s not just a naturally gifted athlete but also someone who puts in an immense amount of work to stay at the top. His commitment to perfecting his game and overcoming obstacles resonates deeply with me, especially in my own journey as a ballet dancer.
In ballet, achieving excellence requires the same level of dedication that LeBron demonstrates. Every day in the studio, I work on perfecting my technique, from the precision of my pirouettes to the grace of my arabesques. Just as LeBron trains tirelessly to refine his skills and enhance his performance, I practice rigorously to push the boundaries of my dancing. His example of perseverance reminds me that success in ballet is not just about talent but about the relentless effort and resilience needed to improve continuously.
LeBron’s ability to adapt and excel in different situations is something I strive to emulate in ballet. Whether it’s tackling a challenging new routine or performing under pressure, I see parallels between his approach to basketball and my approach to dance. His commitment to overcoming challenges and pushing his limits encourages me to embrace the difficulties in ballet with a similar mindset. Whenever I face a tough routine or a demanding performance, I think about how LeBron would tackle a tough game, and it motivates me to give my all.
As for whether LeBron is the greatest basketball player of all time, I believe he certainly deserves a spot in that conversation. His incredible skill, leadership, and influence on the game are unmatched. But for me, it’s not just about the titles or records; it’s about the way he inspires others. His dedication and hard work set a powerful example, showing that greatness comes from constant effort and perseverance.
In ballet, I strive to mirror that same dedication. LeBron’s example teaches me that achieving my goals requires more than just passion—it demands relentless effort and a willingness to overcome setbacks. Whether or not he’s the greatest of all time, his influence on my approach to ballet is undeniable. His commitment inspires me to push through challenges and continually strive for excellence in my own dancing journey.
Vegan Teens Are The Future Scholarship
My decision to become vegan was profoundly influenced by a personal experience that transformed my perspective on compassion and responsibility. A few years ago, I found myself caring for a stray dog named Max. When I first brought Max into my home, he was in poor shape—neglected, malnourished, and clearly suffering. As I watched him slowly regain his health and vitality through the care and love he received, I was struck by the stark contrast between his painful past and his newfound joy.
This experience with Max prompted me to reflect deeply on the food choices I was making and their broader implications. It became increasingly apparent that if I could offer Max a better life, I needed to extend that same empathy and respect to all animals. The more I learned about the conditions in which animals are raised for food, the more I felt compelled to make a change. The suffering and exploitation inherent in animal agriculture were incompatible with my values of compassion and respect for all living beings.
Adopting a vegan lifestyle was not just a dietary change for me; it was a moral and ethical commitment. Veganism became important because it represents a tangible way to reduce harm and promote kindness. It aligns with my belief that every creature has a right to live free from suffering, and it provides a practical means of acting on that belief. Choosing veganism was my way of taking a stand against the cruelty of factory farming and the environmental damage associated with animal agriculture.
Looking ahead, I am passionate about using my education and experiences to advance the vegan movement. My academic background in nutrition and environmental science has given me valuable insights into the health benefits of plant-based diets and the environmental impact of animal farming. My dream is to leverage this knowledge to advocate for veganism through both public education and policy reform.
I plan to work on initiatives that promote the health benefits of plant-based eating, such as developing community programs that provide accessible information and resources about vegan nutrition. By collaborating with healthcare professionals and educational institutions, I aim to make veganism a more mainstream and viable option for people from all walks of life.
Additionally, I am committed to advocating for policy changes that support plant-based food systems and sustainable agricultural practices. By working with policymakers and organizations dedicated to environmental and animal welfare, I hope to influence legislation that supports the transition to more humane and eco-friendly food systems.
Ultimately, my goal is to inspire others to join the vegan movement by demonstrating the positive impact that compassionate choices can have on both personal health and the planet. Through education, advocacy, and policy work, I aspire to contribute to a more just and sustainable world where all living beings are treated with the respect they deserve.
