As I reflect on my journey and my aspirations for the future, I am filled with a deep sense of purpose to make the world a better place for all people. With my passion for business and finance, coupled with my commitment to teaching financial literacy, I am determined to drive positive change and empower individuals to achieve financial well-being. From a young age, I have been fascinated by the world of business and finance. I have seen firsthand how financial literacy can transform lives and create opportunities for individuals and communities. As I progressed through high school, I realized that financial literacy is not widely taught, and many individuals lack the basic knowledge and skills needed to make informed financial decisions. This realization ignited a passion within me to become an advocate for financial education and empower others with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the complex world of finance. In pursuit of this goal, I have taken proactive steps to make a difference in my community. As a high school student, I have initiated financial literacy workshops, where I have shared my knowledge and expertise in business and finance with my peers. I have conducted sessions on budgeting, saving, investing, and managing debt, equipping my fellow students with essential financial skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. Witnessing the impact of these workshops on my peers, and seeing them gain confidence and make informed financial decisions, has been incredibly fulfilling. However, I am not stopping there. That is why I am passionate about pursuing a degree in business and finance in college. Through my studies, I aim to gain a deep understanding of business principles, financial management, and investment strategies, which will equip me with the expertise to make informed decisions and drive positive change. Furthermore, I am committed to leveraging my education to teach financial literacy not just to my peers, but to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. I envision collaborating with local schools, community organizations, and financial institutions to develop and deliver comprehensive financial literacy programs. These initiatives would focus on empowering individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to manage their finances effectively, make informed investment decisions, and build a secure financial future. I am driven by the belief that financial literacy is not only a key to personal empowerment but also a pathway to economic and social empowerment for individuals and communities. In addition to teaching financial literacy, I am also determined to promote ethical and sustainable business practices. Through my education in business and finance, I will strive to advocate for socially responsible and sustainable practices and work towards creating a more equitable and inclusive business environment. I am passionate about driving change through ethical leadership, promoting diversity and inclusion, and advocating for responsible business practices that prioritize the well-being of people and the planet. In conclusion, I am deeply committed to making the world a better place for all people through my passion for business and finance, and my dedication to teaching financial literacy. I am determined to continue my journey of empowering individuals with financial knowledge and skills and advocating for ethical and sustainable business practices. I am excited about the opportunities that pursuing a degree in business and finance will bring, and I am confident that my efforts will have a positive and lasting impact on individuals and communities. With the support of this scholarship, I will be able to further my education and amplify my impact, driving positive change in our world and creating a more financially empowered and socially responsible society.

As an aspiring entrepreneur, I have always been drawn to tackling pressing issues facing society today. One such issue that I have worked on addressing in my business and entruenurship class is food waste. Food waste is a major problem around the world, with an estimated 1.3 billion tons of food being wasted each year. To address this problem, I have created a solution/business plan called "FoodSavers." FoodSavers is a mobile app that connects local businesses with excess food to nearby individuals and families in need. The app would allow businesses to input information on the type and quantity of excess food they have, and then connect them with nearby individuals and families in need. The goal of FoodSavers is to reduce food waste while also addressing food insecurity in local communities. To make FoodSavers a reality, I would need funding to develop the app and establish partnerships with local businesses and non-profit organizations. I would also need to invest in marketing and outreach efforts to promote the solution and encourage individuals and families in need to use the app. The app would be designed to be user-friendly and accessible to all users, regardless of their technological proficiency. It would include features such as GPS tracking to connect businesses with nearby individuals and families, and a notification system to alert users of available excess food. To make the solution even more impactful, I would like to include additional features such as a rating system for businesses and users, as well as educational resources on reducing food waste and promoting sustainable food practices. I would also like to establish partnerships with local food banks and non-profit organizations to ensure that excess food is reaching those who need it most. I believe that FoodSavers has the potential to make a significant impact on the food waste landscape while also addressing food insecurity in local communities. By connecting businesses with excess food to those in need, the app can help reduce food waste and promote sustainable food practices. It can also help address the issue of food insecurity by ensuring that excess food is reaching those who need it most. In conclusion, FoodSavers is a solution that I have created to address the problem of food waste while also addressing food insecurity in local communities. With the right funding and resources, I believe that this app can make a significant difference in the lives of individuals in need. I am committed to bringing FoodSavers to fruition and making it available to communities everywhere. Thank you for considering my application.

As someone with a background in financial literacy education, I have seen the importance of understanding personal finance and investing. I was raised with the value of discipline, adaptability, and hard work as I was a military child and have experienced firsthand the importance of financial stability and planning. Moving every few years and constantly adapting to new environments has taught me to be resilient and adaptable, but it has also made me acutely aware of the financial impact of these transitions. This life experience coupled with my experience as a VyStar Student Manager Intern as well as being a Junior Achievement financial literacy instructor has allowed me to develop a passion for helping others become financially literate. As I pursue a career in business and finance, I plan on continuing to educate myself on the latest trends and strategies by staying up-to-date with industry news and participating in continuing education opportunities. This includes attending seminars, workshops, and conferences, as well as pursuing additional certifications and licenses as currently am already certified in Quickbooks. In addition to educating myself, I plan on sharing my knowledge with others. I will continue to volunteer with organizations like Junior Achievement and seek out opportunities to teach financial literacy in my community. I have seen firsthand how the lack of financial literacy can adversely affect others, especially people of color as wealth gaps and high levels of credit card and student loan debt among minorities still heavily persist today. I believe that education is key to empowering individuals to take control of their financial futures, and with this, I am highly dedicated to helping others achieve financial stability. Furthermore, In the future I aspire to establish a business dedicated to teaching financial literacy, reaching a wider audience. I want to leverage technology to create an online platform that offers accessible and engaging content on personal finance and investing. My hope is for this platform to include informative articles, videos, and podcasts that break down complex financial concepts into easy-to-understand language, offering interactive tools and resources, such as budgeting templates and retirement calculators, to help people take action and achieve their financial goals. Ultimately, one of my biggest life goals is to help individuals achieve financial stability and achieve long-term financial success. I am committed to using my knowledge and experience to make a positive impact on the world. By pursuing a career in business and finance, as well as continuing to educate myself and others, I hope to create a brighter financial future for individuals and communities alike.

The Sneeze By Layla Richardson There once was a man named Lou Who had a sneeze that would make you want to spew It was loud and long And lasted oh so strong One day he sneezed in the grocery store And all the products fell to the floor The milk, the eggs, the bread and more Were scattered all around the store People looked at him with disdain As they stepped around the mess with pain But Lou just chuckled and said with a grin "I guess I sneezed a little too thin!" From that day on, Lou was known As the man with the sneeze that could shake a throne He sneezed in the park, he sneezed in the mall And always made a scene with his sneeze so tall But despite the chaos he caused with his nose People loved him, that's how it goes For his wit and humor, and his sneeze so bold Made him a character that never gets old.

My military family upbringing has shaped who I am as a person and given me a unique background and perspective which contributes to my identity and most valuable characteristic. From birth to my early adolescence years both my parents were serving in the United States Navy on active-duty orders simultaneously. Although I felt a great sense of pride and honor to see them choose such a selfless act of commitment, it did not come without its own set of unique challenges pertaining to our family structure. The most significant challenge I experienced was how we had to relocate every three years to a new state, sometimes even a new country, and one parent was always obligated to be deployed away from home. By the time I was 15 years old, I had lived in five different cities (both on the east and west coast) and two different countries. Even though I resented the fact that we had to relocate, seeing diverse cultures essentially helped shape who I am. I've always been introduced to individuals that are unique to me, and I've discovered that I appreciate diversity as I have grown to understand its importance in enriching our lives and encouraging collaborative creativity. Not many are allowed to be immersed in new cultures and different surroundings as I have. As a result, I have developed an unparalleled resilience when it comes to adapting to change which is a characteristic, I value most in myself. This flexibility has proved useful to help me connect with people who are different from me after experiencing so much cultural diversity. I feel my surroundings have both enlightened me about many cultures and forced me to reflect on my own life. One is my identity as a young African American female, influencing who I am. My parents, who nurtured me also have always taught me that knowledge is power, as once you have it, it can never be taken away from you. It is a saying that sticks with me today and stays in my mind as I pursue higher education, no matter how difficult it may get. I take it into consideration when developing my extra-curricular talents in music as well. In this aspect, I chose to explore my interests in symphonic orchestra and acquired an enthusiasm for, playing the flute. The flute represents more than simply a mere musical talent but rather an emotional stimulation to express my identity, artistry and creativity universally without words. My distinctive background, sense of identity and talents are extremely meaningful to me as although I have been presented with many obstacles, they have allowed me to hone the skill of adaptability as I challenge myself even when my circumstances change and pivoted to proceed forward. With this, I feel I am a self-starter with a competitive drive capable of inspiring a nation to improve through inclusion and diversity. As I work toward a future/career in business and finance, I want to not only use this quality I possess to meet my personal goals in my career field but hopefully inspire others to peruse careers in business and finance as diversity hurdles persist in the business and financial services industry, with only 20% consisting of minorities. One of my primary goals in life is to experience it to the greatest, taking advantage of opportunities to positively affect my community and drive constructive change, and I strive to accomplish just that with the help of this quality.
