Greetings! My name is Larell Young, and I am a young single mother who has two children. In addition, I am passionate and dedicated to becoming a nurse after working as a Certified Nursing Assistant for the past six years. As a result of attending college, I'm able to pursue my career. Failure is the result of a missed opportunity.
The determination I possess to become a great nurse makes me an ideal candidate. As a nurse, you can make a tangible impact on the lives of others. As a nurse, you need to be compassionate, empathetic, thoughtful, and dedicated to caring for others.
Scholarship donors You're just not helping me with college you're helping the community by bringing in more nurses. I possess a strong work ethic, and creativity, and I aim to always be better than my past self

Community Health Ambassador Scholarship for Nursing Students
In response to the question, "Why do you want to pursue a degree in nursing?", people usually answer by saying, "I have always wanted to do it.". Fortunately, this was different for me. Due to my experience as a mother in the NICU, my love of helping people, my medical knowledge, and my understanding of relationships. The nursing profession has always been my first choice. Nursing is regarded as one of the most prestigious professions. As a nurse, you can experience profound changes in who you are and who you become. The best thing about becoming a nurse is that it is constantly evolving; there are so many things you can do in the profession, so there is no need to stick to one specialty. Knowing that my care, touch, voice, and time can help a patient make it through the day is one of the most rewarding feelings. In my studies in health care, I realized I was more interested in how a person became ill, rather than just how to treat it. As someone who is dedicated to being a nurse, it was important to me to understand how I could help a person stay healthy as well as get healthy. That’s what nurses do. They teach the patients to take care of themselves and to optimize their health. You have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others as a nurse. Nurses must be compassionate, empathetic, thoughtful, and dedicated to caring for others.
My first step is to put myself in other people's shoes. Once I become a nurse, I want to be responsible for making sure patients leave the hospital feeling stronger and more healed than they were before. The purpose of my nursing career is to make a profound impact on the patient and the patient's family whenever a parent gives birth to a premature child with birth defects, infections, cardiac malformations, or surgical problems, as well as with children with addictions or HIV infections. It is my responsibility to speak for the sickest and smallest patients who are unable to speak for themselves. The purpose of going to the hospital is for healing or recovery from illness, in my opinion. This led to the parents of the infants placing their trust and faith in me as a nurse. To earn and keep trust, nurses must respect, value, and keep their trust to the best of their abilities. Nursing requires me to address patients' needs and concers when they dont have no one to turn to. In the course of illness and after hospitalization, family and significant others play an important role in the care of a patient. I believe each member of the health care team has one common goal, namely to ensure the patient's well-being.
My hope is to make a positive impact on the community, I intend to start my organization to help kids with disabilities and earn good money by becoming a nurse so in the community I can contribute to the construction of my own park for nonverbal kids with sign language signs, or even start my nonverbal scholarship for kids with disabilities. As a member of my local church, I also make a big impact on my community. My goal is to gather people who work in medical or mental health to support single mothers. single parents should receive benefits that support them.“She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms…Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come” PROVERBS 31:17, 25

Mental health is a person's psychological, emotional, and social well-being. It affects how people think, feel, and act as they cope with life. Throughout my family, there has been a history of bipolar 2 and schizophrenia. These mental illnesses have been passed down from generation to generation, from stressful events & drug abuse. My mental illness has often made me feel hopeless, but there is a saying that goes, "There is hope, even when your mind tells you there isn't." — John Green. However, I am stronger with bipolar disorder than I ever was without it. I'm Larell Young and I have two beautiful children, a daughter who has sickle cell and a son who was a NICU warrior. From my genetic history, I suffer from bipolar disorder however, I take medication and receive therapy to pursue a nursing degree for a better future.
I realized that bipolar disorder may be a part of my life but that's not who I am. As a 27-year-old, I have experienced major mental health issues throughout my life; I'm pretty sure millions of people deal with such issues, but I want to express mine Even though I am working on my mental illness every day, I don't ever want to make excuses for it. I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder since I was 16 years old. Over the years, I have experienced many ups and downs in life, including feeling lonely, depressed, and even pushing others away from me that I love because of my mood swings. I noticed my bipolar diagnosis for the first time when I became irritable with everyone and everything. Even though I have darker days than others. My strength outweighs my weakness. I still consider myself strong and have a voice for others in my shoes. The things I struggle with daily with my bipolar disorder are irritability, depression, and lack of sleep. Still, when I'm going through one of those outbursts I turn it to being proactive, setting prompts, and making my goals meaningful.
“Bipolar robs you of that which is you. It can take from you the very core of your being and replace it with something opposite of who and what you truly are” (A. Reyan 2015). Recently, I realized I have more fear of failure than giving up and succumbing to my illness. As a result of this mindset, I have thrived and even excelled in my life. This does not mean I haven't failed in the past or won't fail in the future. Having a mental health disorder does not mean I can't do it. as I write about myself in this scholarship, I not only speak for myself, but I am brave enough to speak about my mental illness and speak up for others who are afraid to speak about it as well. Instead of sitting back and complaining about my mental illness, I am trying to show myself and others that it is okay to have a mental illness and be effective at it. The majority of the time my bipolar disorder challenges me, but I manage it well due to my god-fearing nature, medication, and constant therapy. A National Institute of Mental Health study indicates that 5.7 million Americans are affected by bipolar disorder each year. Eventually, I hope to become a mental health nurse and provide mental health services in my community, educating teens to adults on the importance of accepting difficult feelings and learning how to manage them, as well as practicing mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance.

The NICU is a place filled with babies, but the robust cries normally present in a nursery are muffled by alarms, monitors, and worried parents and dedicated entirely to saving lives. To provide critical care and communication skills along with emotional understanding and stability to the tiniest humans, and their parents, Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse (NICU) is my career choice of nursing. Saving a life is an honor and a reward, even though nursing is a challenging and rewarding career, it has the potential to change lives. At one point, I was a NICU mom, giving birth to a one-pound, two-ounce son at five months old. As a result of having my son early, I experienced the most mom guilt, losing my job and becoming homeless, It was a complete storm for me with my son, the ups and downs of his survival were frightening, but the nurses were there for me showing so much compassion. It made all the difference to me. To obtain my nicu nursing degree, I continued my education. When an infant is born prematurely and has birth defects, infections, cardiac malformations, or surgical problems, as well as working with babies born with addictions or HIV infection, I want to be that NICU nurse to make a profound impact on the baby's life and the family of the infant. I am the voice of the sickest and smallest patients who cannot speak for themselves.
Becoming a neonatal nurse can be extremely difficult, time-consuming, mentally draining, emotionally draining, and downright difficult. Neonatology is such a complicated field, and there is so much that goes into it. A good example is knowledge. The key is to know what you're doing. Certain things will be required of me that I hadn't anticipated that I would need to remember will be required of me. Compassion is the second. If you don't have compassion and love for others, you cannot care for other people, especially sick babies. The quality of the care that you provide reflects upon you and the type of person you are. Whether you dislike children or are not a compassionate and loving person, you should not be in the medical field, nor should you be caring for infants who are solely dependent on you.My goal as a neonatal nurse is to fulfill that role to the best of my abilities. It will sometimes be hard, but I also know it will be worth it. My personal opinion is that nurses who are attached to their patients will provide the best care and provide them with the same care they would give their children or parents. This is extremely important to me.
It is no secret that neonatal nursing isn't an easy career. However, it is one of the hardest-working, most compassionate, loving, nurturing, and caring careers I could ever hope for. This is not a career for the faint-hearted or weak-minded. You need to be strong-willed, believe in yourself, and understand how important it is to make a difference and save lives in this career. There is so much pain, hurt, compassion, and knowledge that goes into becoming a neonatal nurse. My goal is to become the best neonatal nurse I can be one day, so I am proud of myself for staying on this path. Success is not success without a successor

The NICU is packed with babies, but the ferocious cries normally heard in a nursery are muffled by alarms, monitors, and worried parents. To provide crucial care to the smallest humans with an understanding of their emotions and stability. saving a life is an honor and a reward, even though nursing is a challenging and rewarding career, it has the potential to change lives. As a high-risk pregnant patient, I had an emergency delivery on November 28th, 2018 giving birth to my premature son who weighed only one pound and two ounces. That's when I discovered the NICU. Being a NICU mom and experiencing the NICU experience triggered that "aha" moment of wanting to be a NICU nurse. The experience of seeing my son and the other babies in the incubator changed my life completely. The tubing in his throat, a blindfold cover over his eyes, and even seeing the smallest diaper was terrifying. I experienced a storm during that time, lost my job, became homeless, and felt the worst mom guilt a woman could ever experience. But feeling sorry for myself wouldn't change anything, so I decided to be the change for myself and to have a better life for my son. I wanted to be like these nurses who showed such compassion and love. As a NICU patient, I lost my son twice after the doctors struggled to keep him alive; I also witnessed other mothers lose their babies. During my time in the NICU, I witnessed mothers who abandoned their children because they couldn't support them while they were ill, as well as mothers who left behind their children because they couldn't support them financially or didn't wanna be bothered with the major development of special needs care the child will need. Life goals are something everyone should want to accomplish In other words, I have some goals in life and I plan to achieve them. As a nursing student, I have a great passion for caring for others. My short-term goal is to graduate from Penn Valley Community College with my Associate's Degree in Nursing. To become a registered nurse, I will work very hard and prepare for my nursing licensure exam. Once I complete my associate's degree, I will transfer to UMKC School of Nursing and Health Studies to complete my bachelor's degree. A long-term goal of mine is to obtain a Master's degree in nursing. Until then, I would like to work as a nurse, use my skills, and gain experience in the profession.
Despite the millions of nurses and nurse practitioners in the world, there are still many individuals and ideals underrepresented in medicine. Since people of color are underrepresented within healthcare, it's easy for me to say I'm underrepresented. Despite making up 39% of the U.S. population, 32% of all healthcare practitioners are Black/African American, Asian, or Hispanic/Latino/a. In addition, 33% of all nurses identify as members of these groups, including licensed practical nurses (LPNs), registered nurses (RNs), and nurse practitioners (NPs). RNs are becoming more diverse, but minority nurses remain underrepresented. 16.8% of RNs come from minority backgrounds, according to research.
I will be able to achieve my educational and career goals with the help of this scholarship. Despite my best efforts, my part-time jobs haven't been enough to save for college because of the exorbitant tuition costs. Being a mother of two disabled children, living in a one-bedroom apartment makes saving difficult for me. I have a sickle cell daughter and a special needs son. Currently, I am focusing on my undergraduate degree to provide a better life for my children. This scholarship will help me by lowering college costs. you're not only helping me but you supporting my children who need it the most.

My career as a young African-American woman pursuing a career in health care as a student at MCC Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, MO, will also mark the first in many generations to earn my bachelor of nursing degree. As a clinical nurse assistant, I have worked in many places that deal with people with disabilities, rehabilitation hospitals, and psychiatric hospitals where individuals require a deeply supportive connection.
As a rehab aide at a center in Kansas City, I interacted with recovering addicts and people who had been exposed to the drug, which led them to develop an immune disease that was difficult for them to cure. Since Ive been a rehab aide. I learned in today's society, it is common to know someone with a drug addiction, especially one to opiates. A drug addict is unable to control their actions due to a mental disorder. As long as the drug addict gets the high he or she is seeking, they don't care about the outcome. Addiction to hard drugs can be caused by low self-esteem, which can lead to a variety of problems. A person with low self-esteem may have a hard time getting over negative emotions or thoughts, which may lead to them turning to drugs to change their feelings and thoughts. Anxiety and depression play a role in drug addiction as well. Being able to impact my work immediately excited me since it meant I would have a lot of interaction with patients. Furthermore, I helped patients understand their treatment plans and answered their questions using my communication skills. When a patient feels like they may relapse due to a trigger, we help them plan a coping skill. Assisting in these places allowed me to connect with patients and form bonds with them. As a rehab aide, I taught my patients coping skills like being honest with themselves, practicing gratitude, keeping a journal, practicing meditation, and surrounding themselves with a supportive team. As a result of my work in these hospitals, I have gained a better understanding of how addiction begins and what triggers its outcome. It will be an excellent experience for me to become a substance abuse nurse. I will be able to monitor and assess patients' treatment strategies and recovery process, evaluating their strengths and weaknesses.
Aside from that, I am a member of a church of Christ where I help feed and shelter people with addiction from all walks of life. In addition, we are committed to developing a ministry of circle where all people are welcome to help out others who are suffering from addictions. Due to my addiction and depression, from losing my mother my behavioral health has motivated me to achieve further and beyond. To obtain my bachelor of nursing degree, I intend to continue my studies. Although I struggle with depression severely, I have continued in school maintaining a 3.2 grade point average, making the dean's list, and seeking support from therapeutic programs and MCC Penn Valley Community College." I will exalt you, Lord, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me. Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me. You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit.” Psalms 30:1-3.

According to the saying, "If you want to change the world, start with yourself." Here I am making a difference with my passion to care for others. Passion can be defined as "any powerful or compelling feeling or emotion." according to dictionary.com. Passions can either be positive or negative. My passions shape the way I live my life and the goals I have for the future. Being a mother and working as a healthcare professional has allowed me to develop skills. My role models have also influenced my learning and growth. The importance of learning new ideas and changing myself is something I value highly. By learning from my mistakes, I believe I have become stronger, and more resilient.
I believe that everyone is capable of achieving great things, which is why it has become my purpose and passion to help others be their best. My goal is to help people discover their strengths, provide companionship, as well as help them overcome their challenges and find their voice. Since a young age, I have been passionate about healthcare and medical care. Throughout my life and educational journey, it has guided me. Over the years, I have realized that I have a passion for NICU nursing. My dream is to become a NICU nurse so that I can help babies heal from physical pain. I have a deep passion for caring for other babies as the mother of a baby who weighed one pound and two ounces at five months. I'm enrolled in school to help me provide aid to others. The desire to help others prompts me to attend MCC Penn Valley Community College. This college has a highly accredited nursing program that will prepare me to become a nurse.
In my life, I have always been passionate about helping others and I love the idea of being considered dependable. Providing helpful feedback or advice to others who are struggling is something I enjoy when they come to me. As a result, I learned that you need to be a "people person" to accomplish this. My ultimate goal is to be someone that others look up to. I want children from all walks of life to know that it is possible to dream. and most importantly turn those dreams into reality. I am committed to continuing to develop my skills and to using my skills to help others be their best. I believe that everyone has the potential to be great, and I want to do everything I can to help people reach their full potential.
One day in my life I will also consider becoming a foster care nurse, this will allow me to develop more bonds with children who were abused and dealt with abandoned until I reach the point in my life where I am capable of helping others firsthand, I want to give back and make a difference. Because I am so deeply involved in caring for others I believe giving to the community is another show of my passion. I would like to open a community center that serves children & teenagers who do not have access to health care. With the right connections and support, I would provide family planning services, nutritional services, preventative health screenings, and counseling treatment. I believe having a passion for becoming a nurse will be extremely rewarding because I know I will have genuine opportunities to make a difference in the lives of many.
Girls Ready to Empower Girls
There is inspiration in a variety of people and things. One of the people who has most greatly inspired me has been my social worker Mrs. Nichole She always had a smile on her face no matter how hard she worked and she loved everyone. In addition to being well respected, she always gave more than she received. I experienced grief after being separated from my biological family. Since I grew up in foster care without a mother, I always wanted to look up to a woman who could be very inspirational to me. As I grew older, switching caseworkers from caseworkers, I finally got a stable caseworker who was strong, willing, & believed in God.
Despite her ambitions, Mrs. Nichole was compassionate, sympathetic, concerned, thoughtful, and uplifted. It was apparent that her love was genuine since she cared for me like a mother. To become competent professionals who empower individuals in the community, social workers work hard and study for years.
I was mistreated as a young woman. It was Mrs. Nichole who helped me develop my strengths over my weaknesses. As a result of her inspiration, I began to believe in God and developed a plan for becoming a social worker or nurse to help others as she had helped me. One thing I learned from her is that your past is not your present and that everyone can change for the better. My journey started with healing my past to gain a bright future. I wanted to be that woman like Mrs. Nichole, someone who has a fulfilled heart and can be there for many young women. As she did for me and many other young women in the community. I have enrolled myself in MCC Penn Valley Community College to obtain my nursing degree, and I plan on going to a four-year university to earn my BSN.
Along with becoming a nurse, I want to work in foster care to help other women who suffer from depression, abuse, and sexual assault. Whenever Mrs. Nichole would speak to me, she would always say: "It's not your job to save everyone.". Some people are not even ready to accept help. You should focus on being of service to those who are in need, and be wise and humble enough to know when the best service to offer is to point them in the right direction.” Looking back today, I realize why she said this quote to me so many times. Anna Taylor is credited with this quote. I believe that supporting others could make this world a better place. Because of my experience, I get to make a difference and support other women in need. However believe I am not a victim I am victory
Apart from that, I intend to start a group home for young foster women, where I can encourage them to lift others and change the way others perceive us as ladies. New chapters begin old chapters are closed "The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart trusts him. I was helped, my heart rejoiced, and I thank him with my song".Psalm 28:7
Law Family Single Parent Scholarship
Occasionally, when God offers a blessing unexpectedly, we are uncertain what to do with it or how to accept it. At a young age, being a single mother can be challenging and can affect your career and daily life. At 23, I became a mother. I have two children with disabilities. Due to the stress of being a young mother, my pregnancy was high-risk, which caused my first child to be born early, at five months. my son weighed one pound and two ounces at birth, which caused some major delays in his development, resulting in him being nonverbal, among other things. Aside from that, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl with sickle cell anemia, who sometimes suffers painful accidents that require her to stay in the hospital for quite a while.
Becoming a mother is among the hardest jobs in the world, single moms explain it's not an easy task. Motherhood requires a lot of effort, passion, determination, & confidence, but most importantly, love. As a mother, I have faced some difficult issues I wasn't prepared for, but I have managed to accomplish some impressive things. My strengths have led me to follow my heart and intuition, of becoming a nurse. I learned being a single mother brings twice the stress and twice the tears.
Conversely, there is twice as much love, twice as much pride, and twice as much hugging. Being a mother today, I have to do two people's jobs. I wouldn't want to share the burden of stressful moments with anyone as a single mother.
I am compassionate, empathetic, thoughtful, and dedicated to caring for others as a single mother.because of the difficulties I faced. In a single-parent household, I have to cope with a lot of stress, but it pushes me to do more rather than complain when I can make a difference. One of the most challenging things I deal with as a mom is caring for my kids alone after losing their father to violent crime. In addition to the emotions I was already dealing with, his death caused me additional stress. I feel guilty for not providing enough for my children. Some do not understand my children's disability and also critique my parenting. Even though it is difficult for me to maintain childcare support, &financial support, I want to be a good role model for my children, I want to show them that people with disabilities can still be loved and succeed in life. The safety and love of my children are my top concerns as a mother in my situation. I am responsible for making sure my children can rely on me 100 percent. My commitment to my children forced me to give up my job as a certified nursing assistant so that I could further my education. To become a half-NICU and sickle cell nurse,
To make a positive impact on the community, I intend to start my organization to help kids with disabilities and earn good money by becoming a nurse so in the community I can contribute to the construction of a park for nonverbal kids with sign language signs, or even start my nonverbal scholarship for kids with disabilities. As a member of my local church, I also make a big impact on my community. My goal is to gather people who work in medical or mental health to support single mothers. single parents should receive benefits that support them.“She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengthens her arms…Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come” PROVERBS 31:17, 25

Greetings and thank you for taking the time to read my introduction about myself and why it is important to me to pursue a nursing career path. Although it can be a difficult task competing with other applicants for a scholarship from your organization. My reasoning for pursuing this is based on God and my understanding of why it would be beneficial for me.“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” Jeremiah 29:11. I don't know others and I won't compare myself to them. As a strong believer in the right to succeed in life, I am confident that everyone deserves it. Being an African American woman at this time, my education is everything to me in becoming successful in my life. The purpose of this is to support me and my two children, whom I consider my blessings. As an introduction It’s important for me to purse my nursing. As a result of my love for helping people, nursing has always been my career choice. Nursing is regarded as one of the most prestigious professions. The best thing about becoming a nurse is that it is constantly evolving; there are so many things you can do in the profession, so there is no need to stick to one specialty. You may create a new area of interest if it does not yet exist. Knowing that my care, touch, voice, and time can help a patient make it through the day is one of the most rewarding feelings. Sometimes, it is the little things you do for your patients that make a significant difference. In my studies in health care, I realized I was more interested in how a person became ill, rather than just how to treat it. As a health care Student it is important to me to understand how I could help a person stay healthy as well as get healthy. That’s what nurses do. We teach our patients to take care of themselves and to optimize their health. You have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others as a nurse. As a nurse, you need to be compassionate, empathetic, thoughtful, and dedicated to caring for others. What motivated me to choose this career? High demand, good pay, multiple specialties to work in, the ability to move forward with my career if I choose (i.e. nurse practitioner, administration) and the feeling of making a difference. I have also had experience as a neonatal intensive care mother, I had a son who was 1 pound & 2 ounces and he spent a year there. As a mother I had to learn a lot so I wanted to become a NICU nurse to help other babies like how the nurses helped my son, this pushes me to become a nurse even more. Romeo scholarship if you decide to bless me with this scholarship. You're just not helping me with college you're helping the community by bringing in more nurses.

Greetings and thank you for taking the time to read my introduction about myself and why I would make a wonderful candidate for this scholarship. And how this scholarship could benefit me to be better in life. It can be a difficult task competing with other applicants for a scholarship from your organization. The purpose of this is to support me and my two children, who I consider my blessings. As an introduction to my college experience, I attended college six years ago and left with a couple of withdrawals. This has prevented me from receiving financial aid. As a freshman in college, I was unprepared and knew nothing about college. I only passed English 80, and I unenrolled from college. Leaving me feeling like a failure. Once I unenrolled it left me with a balance owing financial aid. But over the years I had set up a payment plan to pay it back just so I can reenroll back into Penn Valley Community College. As a result, I did not qualify for financial aid since my competition rate was under 67 percent.
