My single mom has been my biggest source of inspiration in my life, shaping my character and aspirations in numerous ways. Both her strength and resilience have left a mark on my heart and in my mind. From her, I've learned the value of hard work and determination and watched as she balanced a demanding job, household responsibilities, and raising me and my brother. She always showed us how to overcome any obstacle with a positive attitude. The ability she has to continue to remain optimistic in tough times made me gain the mindset that I can conquer any obstacle that gets thrown my way.
She has given such dedication to my education, she constantly reminds me of the importance of knowledge and how far it will be able to get me. No matter how big the dream was, she encouraged me to pursue it. My mom was working two jobs to support my brother and me while going to school at night to achieve a higher education. I am inspired by her every day, she has such strength and resilience to face any challenges that get thrown at her.
I want to become a nurse, and I have since I was in high school. I want to be able to help people and the communities around me. Educating people who may not be able to receive the health care they need and deserve. I currently work at a nursing home doing recreation, so I can see firsthand the hard work the nurses and CNAs do, making sure the patients are well taken care of and get their medication. It solidified my choice to do nursing. Learning as much as I can to be the best nurse I can be has been my biggest goal. I have a passion for caring and advocating for others. Having experience in a health care facility as well as going through nursing school will help me to provide both physical and emotional support. I am drawn to the ever-evolving nature of the healthcare field, the opportunity for continuous learning, and the diverse career paths within nursing. I believe in the power of empathy, healing, and making a meaningful difference in the world. After I graduate and a few years after working I would like to go back to school and get my CRNA so further my education and expand my knowlege to my patients.

It was since high school I wanted to become a nurse, my aunt has suffered through so much during her life. She had lung cancer from secondhand smoke, she had a pacemaker and she underwent surgeries. I was there to help her and seeing the nurses and them caring for patients made me want to become one. The past year I have worked in a nursing home as a recreational assistant, I get to watch how nurses care for the patients firsthand hand. Besides nurses, I also get to see the CNAS do their work and how they care for the residents. It has strengthened my decision to become a nurse.
Watching these nurses has helped me focus on my goals of how I want to be as a nurse. I want to be there for the patients, someone to rely on and lean on during their tough times. Giving a helping hand to their family members while they watch a loved one in the hospital. Nursing is much more than giving medication, it is also about compassion. My main goal is to become the best nurse that I possibly can be. Once I finish my BSN and work for a few years I would like to apply for a CRNA program and be scrubbed in during surgeries. This will help further my education and give me a whole new set of career goals.
In 2015, I was diagnosed with IBS and it took a toll on my life, I was constantly in bed with stomach pain and even landed in the hospital a few times due to how intense it was. I had to skip out on school events and missed opportunities. I had fallen into a depression and it felt like the doctors didn't understand how much pain it was causing, multiple tests were done to rule out what was causing it. Throughout the years I have had to push myself into situations even when I am experiencing stomach pain, I had to overcome the anxiety of having to go out and being scared I would need to rush home. This can help impact my career because it has made me stronger as an individual, as well as will help me give others advice and talk to them about how I overcame a tough situation and they might be able to gain information and apply it the their situation.
