Lyndsey Scott Coding+ Scholarship
As a passionate, young enthusiast of computer science, my primary goal is to carve a niche for myself in the dynamic realm of the highest levels of software engineering. The allure of creating innovative solutions and contributing to the ever-evolving landscape of technology has fueled my passion for this field. My aspiration is not just to be a proficient coder but to work up to the highest levels of expertise and do it as a woman in a male-dominated field, shaping the future through cutting-edge software development.
In pursuit of this objective, I am diligently honing my programming skills, learning the language of Java in my AP Computer Science A class. I am actively engaged in all projects in said class, learning new ways to code small games, make pictures, and solve problems. Though these are small steps in a career in coding, they are building the foundation for my future in the field where I can learn even more with this understanding of key concepts.
Beyond the realms of computer science, I harbor a diverse set of goals that reflect my multifaceted personality and aspirations. One such non-computer science goal is to become well-versed in criminal justice, which would allow me to work with and for the US government. Thus, I am actively participating in criminal justice classes and keeping up to date with all of the local, national, and global current happenings.
Furthermore, my non-computer science goals extend to fostering a deep understanding of the intersection between technology and our society. I am passionate about leveraging my technical acumen to contribute meaningfully to preventing cybersecurity issues and threats. Most people in this ever-growing and technologically advancing world become vulnerable to technological threats and crimes. The synthesis of these seemingly disparate goals holds great significance for me. I envision a future where my proficiency in computer science converges with my passion for criminal justice. For instance, as a high-paid software engineer, I aspire to spearhead initiatives that use technology to address national threats to our country, as well as smaller threats to everyday people with technological devices. Furthermore, I recognize the importance of effectively identifying crime in driving technological advancements. By combining my computer science expertise with criminal justice knowledge, I aim to bridge the gap between the average technology user and the powers of our US government. This fusion of technical prowess and protection is not only personally fulfilling but also aligns with the growing emphasis on cybersecurity threats in the tech industry.
