Hi my name is Kyle Herrera, an aspiring transfer student to the university of Denver. As a criminology major with plans on continuing to law school, I hope one day to be an attorney living life in the fast lane. I dream to work for a large law firm in New York City. I come from a poor background and am trying to do my best to make a name for myself even though the odds are stacked against me. Gratitude and honesty are some of the most important values to me because without honesty you can’t have gratitude. I always remind myself that no matter what happens, I am better than no one, and no one is better than me.
I am basically a first generation college student and doing all this on my own, sometimes it gets difficult but when it gets difficult I try to find positivity through all the pain. It’s important that I am able to obtain my goal because I want to be able to change the lives of so many. My passion for law has thrived within me for many years and is still a burning desire deep inside of me. The thought of even being able to help 1 person or have an impact in someone else’s life is an incredible honor to me. Although I cherish the idea of being able to help people through difficult times in their lives I also believe that there are two types of people in this world. Winners and Losers, and through my experiences I will do anything it takes to be a winner.

Disney Channel Rewind Scholarship
“Gravity Falls, trapped in the Concrete Jungle” is the name of the Disney show that I would create if I were to mix two of my favorites. My two favorite Disney Channel shows that I remember always watching growing up were Jessie Gravity Falls. I would have the show take place in New York, thus the name Trapped in the Concrete Jungle. However, I would give it more of an adventurous type of seem like that of gravity falls however, it would just be more city-based. For example, the characters would find themselves trapped in hidden doors and skyscrapers that would alternately lead them out to nothing. I will also have the characters of Gravity Falls, living in the penthouse with Jesse and the family. I will probably also eliminate Stan from being Mabel and Dipper's uncle. I would have Mabel and Dipper blend in with the rest of the family and be an adopted child. However, on the Jersey side, I would still keep all the characters such as Bertram. I would just have all of the characters in doors themselves in this mysterious sort of city life. However, I would still keep the plot line that Mabel and Dipper are still just cousins who are staying for the summer and they are just kids who are trying to make the most of summer while they have it. And I would have the mom and dad on Jesse's side be Mabel and Dipper's aunt and uncle. I would also like to get creative with the episodes and I know in Jesse a lot of the time they end up on the terrace outside of the penthouse so I would give an episode where they find the hidden door that leads to another floor of the building that I’ve never heard of. I would also like to give these episodes some creative names. For example, one episode could be called The Legend of the Concrete Jungle while another one can be called The Land of Never-ending Falls, which could be an episode about a secret room in the penthouse, that ultimately leads to a room or one will never quit falling. I also think that it will be interesting to do an episode where they investigate the lizard that lives in the penthouse in the show Jessie since the two are combined. And I would also want to give the entire series, some sort of hidden villain, not exactly a bill cipher, but something along those lines. I think that the audience has something that they are not quite sure of, but they know it’s not good, and it’s gonna lead to a highly dramatic conflict at the end. It will keep them on the edge of their seats. However, obviously, in the end, the good guy always wins, so Jessie's family and Dipper and Mabel are obviously defeated, which this evil villain does, resulting in the end of summer, and they will be going back home.

Mental Health Importance Scholarship
Mental health is incredibly important as it affects every aspect of our lives. It refers to our emotional, psychological, and social well-being, and plays a vital role in how we think, feel, and act. Just like physical health, maintaining good mental health is crucial for our overall well-being and quality of life.
First and foremost, I think mental health is important because it influences our ability to cope with stress, handle challenges, and build and maintain relationships. When we have good mental health, we experience a sense of well-being, self-confidence, and resilience. It enables us to adapt to changes, make positive choices, and achieve our goals. On the other hand, poor mental health can lead to various problems such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and even suicidal thoughts.
Taking care of oneself is crucial and getting enough sleep, engaging in regular physical exercise, and maintaining a balanced diet. It's also important to engage in activities that bring joy and relaxation, such as hobbies, spending time in nature, or practicing mindfulness or meditation.
Another way I maintain mental health is by Building and maintaining strong relationships is beneficial for mental health. Connecting with friends, family, and supportive individuals can provide emotional support, reduce feelings of isolation, and offer a sense of belonging.
Learning effective stress management techniques is also an essential step for me to maintain my mental health. For me, this can involve identifying and managing stress triggers, practicing relaxation techniques such as deep breathing or progressive muscle relaxation, and finding healthy ways to cope with stress, such as engaging in hobbies, talking to a trusted friend, or seeking professional help if needed.
Also establishing healthy boundaries helps protect my mental well-being. It can involve learning to say no when necessary, setting realistic expectations for oneself, and recognizing personal limits. Boundaries ensure that individuals prioritize their own needs and avoid burnout.
I have never had to but it’s extremely important to remember that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. If someone is experiencing persistent feelings of sadness, anxiety, or other mental health concerns that interfere with their daily life, it's important to reach out to a mental health professional. I think that therapy, counseling, or medication can be effective treatments for mental health conditions.
Furthermore, these are a few techniques that I have found to be effective in managing my mental health. Daily life is stressful for anybody and everybody so it’s important to remember that our mental well-being should be our utmost and first priority.
Thank you for considering my application!

Phillip Robinson Memorial Scholarship
Once upon a time in a small town known as Santa Fe nestled between hills, there lived a determined young boy named Kyle. However due to growing up in a family with limited means Kyle had experienced the hardships that often accompany a low-income background. Despite the challenges, he possessed an unwavering dream that burned brightly within him. Which was to practice law and bring about positive change in his community.
Kyle's desire to pursue a career in law stemmed from his encounters with injustice. He witnessed friends and family members facing unfair treatment from a system that seemed stacked against them. These experiences fueled a fire within him, igniting a passion for justice and equality.
As he prepared to attend a University, Kyle faced numerous obstacles. Financial limitations cast a shadow of doubt over his dreams, threatening to extinguish his aspirations before they could take flight. However, he refused to let his circumstances define him.
Determined to overcome these challenges, Kyle set out on a path of self-improvement. He devoured books on law, studied late into the night, and sought out mentors who could guide him along his journey. His thirst for knowledge and unwavering commitment caught the attention of many and they never seemed to understand why he worked so hard.
The road ahead was not without its hurdles, there were multiple complications. Kyle has faced skepticism and doubt from those who underestimated his potential due to his background. Yet, he continues to refuse to let their words define him. Instead, he used their skepticism as fuel to prove them wrong.
As Kyle progressed through his education, he honed his skills and developed a deep sense of empathy for the marginalized and disadvantaged. He has witnessed firsthand the transformative power of the law to bring about justice and create a more equitable society.
High school graduation day arrived, marking the culmination of years of hard work and determination. With his diploma in hand, Kyle took his first steps into the world as a potential qualified law student. If provided the opportunity he will make it his life's work to provide legal aid to those who couldn't afford it.
He hopes that one day his word of his unwavering commitment to justice will spread throughout the town. Through his dedication and compassion, if provided the opportunity Kyle will become a beacon of hope for the marginalized and downtrodden.
Kyle’s story will hopefully become an inspiration to many, proving that it's not the circumstances of one's birth that define their future, but rather their determination, resilience, and unwavering belief in their dreams. However this is not just any story, this has been the story of my life so far and I hope that I can provide fair and just legal services to those who come from more low-income backgrounds because as somebody who's been through it, I understand.

Fall Favs: A Starbucks Stan Scholarship
The essence of autumn is often captured in the warm and comforting aroma of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, a seasonal beverage that has become synonymous with the changing leaves and cooler temperatures. For myself, this iconic beverage from Starbucks holds a special place in my heart due to the evoking feeling of nostalgia, comfort, and a sense of belonging. This essay explores the cultural significance of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, its allure, and why it has captured my attention during the autumn season.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte was first introduced by Starbucks in 2003, aiming to infuse the flavors of fall into a delightful coffee concoction. Since its inception, the coffee has grown into a cultural phenomenon by captivating the taste buds and hearts of coffee enthusiasts worldwide. Its limited availability during the autumn months creates a sense of anticipation, transforming it into a seasonal tradition every single autumn season.
Beyond its delightful taste the Pumpkin Spice Latte carries with it a wave of nostalgia that stirs deep emotions within myself. These emotions include nostalgia, happiness, sadness. Happiness arises when it brings me back to the simple days, my childhood. Although with happiness comes sadness, the constant reminder that k will never be a child ever again. The combination of pumpkin, spices, and velvety espresso elicits memories of childhood, family gatherings, and cherished moments. The coffee becomes a conduit for shared experiences from connecting through my collective recollections and creating a sense of unity.

Its warm and creamy texture coupled with the aromatic blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, provides a respite from the outside world. Pumpkin spice lattes become a source of solace which offers a momentary escape from the stresses of my daily life, and allowing other individuals to indulge in a familiar and soothing experience.

The latte has become a catalyst for shared experiences, deepening relationships, and creating lasting memories.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte has captured my attention for years as it continues to transcend its status as a seasonal beverage to become a cultural phenomenon. Its ability to evoke nostalgia, provide comfort and warmth, foster community, and create lasting memories in my life has solidified its place in my heart, along with individuals across the globe. As autumn arrives each year the Pumpkin Spice Latte stands as a reminder of the transformative power of a simple drink, that can bring a community together and a touch of magic into our lives.
Top of the Mountain Memorial Scholarship
It all started in my junior year of high school. I realized how much waste humans truly put out into the world. It was my junior year that I got my first job at a fast food restaurant. Some of the things I witnessed were just flat outright awful. I would see the water left on for two hours running nonstop full blast. I witnessed piles and piles of trash being thrown away. It was at this moment that I decided to do my part in trying to keep this planet healthy and beautiful. One way I would do this is by raising awareness and Educating my classmates, teachers, and the community about environmental issues through presentations, speeches, or what I essentially consider awareness campaigns. I would do a small thing like talk to my teacher about what I witnessed at my work and how it made me think about how dreadful the effects on our environment will be. However, utilizing social media platforms to share information, raise awareness, and encourage sustainable practices, allows me to reach a much broader audience in a shorter period. Apps like Instagram have made it easy for me to create content, share articles, or participate in online discussions about environmental topics. One thing I anticipate doing but have not gotten around to doing quite yet is Engaging in environmental projects by taking part in local environmental projects, such as tree planting, clean-up drives, or community gardens. In my opinion, these activities will inspire others to get involved and thus result in a much healthier and cleaner environment. I see writing letters or emails to local government officials urging them to take action on environmental issues and expressing my concerns and proposing specific solutions or policies that I believe can make a difference as a way to help advocate for the enivomrnet as well. It is just important for myself and everybody else to remember that every small action counts, and by leading by example, one individual can inspire others to become advocates for the environment as well as spark major environmental change.
At the top of the mountain, I would want to leave my mark so that way people know it was me. After I reach the top my message would say "Just remember you climbed all this way for the view of the world, not so the world can see you". I would leave this message because it reminds me of something my grandfather would say if he were still alive "If you're gonna do something do it for yourself".
Thank you for considering my application.

Joshua A. Vaughn Memorial Scholarship
Hello,
My story starts as a young child realizing that I had a missing grandparent on my father's side. This missing grandparent was my grandfather. He had tragically lost his life in a motor vehicle accident well before I was born but I never seemed to understand it until then. I was told he was an attorney himself and had worked vigorously to put himself through law school and make a name for himself. It was at that moment that I realized I wanted to become an attorney. Getting to help people every single day of my life just sounded so intriguing as I would evolve into a major people person. Although it wasn't quite that simple, as I got older my parents split and money got tough to come by. Things stayed like that for a few years and then around my junior year of high school, I started looking at colleges. They all seemed great but there was one that I wanted to go to, It was the one my grandfather had gone to. It was the University of Denver and it seemed so far out of reach. My grandma managed to scramble enough money to take me to Denver to take a look at it. I instantly fell in love with the campus and all the red bricks everywhere. The visit seemed like it was going great until they told us how much it costs to attend. So I went back home and thought to myself there has got to be a way for this to happen. I searched and applied for scholarships and nothing, after weeks. Now I am just trying to find a little relief from the relentless cost of tuition that is rapidly approaching. After graduating I want to continue my education in law school and become a corporate attorney. I am confident I have the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain this goal it is just the financial aspect that I worry about. I do not come from money therefore if I was ever in a situation where someone needed legal help, I would help them regardless of whether or not they could pay me. It is all about the community, when communities come together and truly form a bond beautiful things happen. There is so much hate and greed in this world, I just want to spread positivity and try to make people realize that we are all the same and nobody gets out alive.
Thank you for considering my application.

TJ Crowson Memorial Scholarship
Hello,
As a student with a dream in the legal field, I will work nonstop to put my dreams into reality. Being from my state's state capitol I have always been around law firms and things of that nature. I always see people entering the courthouse and think it must be so intriguing to be able to help people every single day of your life. However, if provided the proper funding I will have the opportunity to do this myself. Coming from a poor background sometimes things seemed so far out of reach but I just remember what my grandfather used to say "Nobody is better than you and you are better than nobody". I am the kind of person that instantly clicks with most people even if you're a stranger. I also have a saying that I live by which is, big dreams require discipline and discipline requires healthy habits, this is what I tell myself over and over again as one day does not go by and I don't think about making it big. New York City, is the city of dreams, the city where everyone is trying to make it big. This is where I wish to live and work one day as a corporate attorney. I want to give the smaller man the advantage for once as I feel like most of the time corporations rip off and take advantage of people. I live by a set of morals known as honesty and trust. How can anyone possibly trust large corporations with the amount of power and money that they have, well the answer is quite simple you can't. Social and financial justice are topics I am very passionate about and unfortnuley not everyone feels the same way about these, especially larger corporations when it comes to paying employees for things like injuries that occur WHILE ON THE JOB. This is why I would want to even out the playing field and make sure if somebody is in harm's way or harmed by one of these corporations that they get what they are entitled to. I also want to be the best of the best, there are A leagues and B leagues. I want to be at the top of the A leagues. I do think everyone is equal and needs to be treated as equal, although I also think that in the A leagues, people are ruthless especially large corporations and there needs to be someone who will stand by the smaller man's side and stand up for them. So that is why I would stand by these people because it is very important to keep a level head no matter how chaotic of a situation. So in hindsight, my passion comes down to the fact that I want to be able to make a difference in this world and although I might not be remembered forever, or at all, I at least ask for the opportunity to try.
Thank you for considering my application.

Lauren Czebatul Scholarship
Hello,
Volunteering is a one-of-a-kind thing and I truly think it takes a certain kind of person to do it and stick with it consistently. My high school offered a football camp every single year to younger kids which was run by the varsity coaches and players. In my first year doing this, I was not very thrilled, I didn't see a point. I thought that volunteering was just working without getting paid and at the time I rather would have been working an actual job. However, as the camp progressed I began to get closer with the people around me and began to see them as more of a family than just people I was volunteering with. Some of my teammates came from poverty while others came from wealthy families, and it was the conversations that we would have afterward and during the camp that allowed us to get to know each other on a deeper level. However, over time, I began to realize that we were all the same. Nothing comes down to how much money somebody has or how nice their house or car is. It all comes down to who somebody is as a person and even though I come from a very poor background I have always had big dreams and they are not going anywhere.
This scholarship will help me incredibly with my tuition for the University of Denver. As previously mentioned I come from a very poor background. My parents split when I was very young and things have been rocky ever since. Not many things have stuck with me since I was a kid but this experience did, along with my dream of being a major New York City attorney. My dream is to work for a large law firm in New York and be able to make a difference in working-class people's lives. When it comes to my tuition I am on my own and have moved out of state to even have a chance of going to the next level. I have a younger brother which I often look out for whether it's something that goes wrong in school or something that is out of our control. By getting my degree I am looking for a way to be able to help as many people as I possibly can. Friends and family consider me a real people person and I know if provided the proper funds I will be able to change so many people's lives including my own. However, due to recent changes in my finances, I am not sure if I will be able to afford college. Things are looking very rocky right now but I have confidence that there is a way through this with help from scholarships. I'm not usually much of a risk taker but I know that to change things I need to take some risks. I just hope that someday with the help of my degree, I can change the life of my family members and hundreds of other people.
Thank you for considering my application.

Operation 11 Tyler Schaeffer Memorial Scholarship
Hello,
My name is Kyle Herrera and I am from a small town called Santa Fe, New Mexico with dreams of making it big. I am currently attending the University of Denver as an undergraduate student and struggle to pay my tuition as I am essentially all on my own. Once I graduate from the University of Denver with my criminology degree I hope to attend a law school somewhere on the east coast. After I graduate with a law degree I dream to work for a law firm in New York City and pursue my dream of making it big, where I can help hundreds of people that are struggling. Coming from a poor background I know how hard things can be especially when it comes to money. I hope to use my degree to fight for families who have been screwed over by big corporations and get them the funds they deserve. There are so many large corporations that have no sympathy for the smaller man. I simply will not allow that to happen, I always feel the need to take action, especially in times of injustice. Now that I am an adult and have been on my own for a little while, I realize just how many injustices there are in the world. However, I did not realize just how chaotic the situation is in our backyard. Americans are struck by tragedy all the time and one would think that in what's supposed to be the greatest country in the world we would be able to provide much better for our citizens. However, all of these people in high places have other plans. For example, if someone gets a call that their spouse has been killed in an accident involving a trucker that was under the influence, but the family members of the spouse are unable to pay for an attorney I would work for this family for free. I would do this because I know all too well that one tragic incident leads to another and before the family even knows it they are turning on each other and blaming each other all while fighting the grief of losing their loved one. Families shouldn't be taken down by large corporations simply because they don't have the funds to fight for what they believe in. This is why if I was ever in a situation where the family could not afford to pay me I would simply waive the cost of my practice. I believe that I am better than no one and no one is better than me, which is a saying that has fueled me to do good in this world full of corruption and greed. Sometimes people let money get the better of them but if we all realized that money is important but not everything, it's just a tool we use to acquire things we need then this world would be a much better place. I don't like to make promises but I am confident that with a degree I will be able to do so much good for this world and make it a better place. Thank you for considering my application.
