Dr. Turner has quite the ring to it. This is how I will be referred to after completing school, furthering my education in order to pursue a dream. You see, ever since I was five years old, I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up; more so where I wanted to be, surrounded by animals as I always have been.
In my home there has never been a shortage of animals between the walls. A gerbil in this room, eight dogs in this room, a cat in that room, and a cow out in the pasture. I think you get the point; no room or acre was left unturned in terms of animal inhabitants. Throughout my life, there have been hardships. My animals have always been my serenity. Becoming involved in a career centered around animals means I would be helping the animals who have helped me, and many other young girls like me.
As someone who has had a long list of animals, which could almost qualify for a zoo, it is no secret the different types of animals I have come into contact with. Considering such, it should take no effort as to figure which animal is my favorite, right? Wrong. I cannot pick a favorite animal because if I did that would not accurately represent my love for each species. While animals do not speak like we do or dress as we do the one similarity is each animal has their own personality just like we do. So, while I can't recognize my favorite animal, I can recognize my favorite qualities and traits each animal offers.
Starting small, gerbils and hamsters have an admirable craftsmanship. Rabbits are incredibly athletic. Reptiles have the ability to grow by creating a new start for themselves when they shed their skin. Chickens have a way of finding a use for everything leading them to be resourceful. Cats are known for their balance, but I more admire them for the way they are always able to get back up on their feet when they fall. Dogs are commendable for their loyalty and their ability to learn new things quickly. Goats have incredible agility and are sure-footed, so much so it would be more accurate to call them natural born rock climbers. Pigs are widely known for their intelligence. Cows are curious by nature. Horses are goofy and playful but dependable. These only recognize a few animals present in our world, there are 2.13 million animal species, and each is commendable for an aspect of their individual personality.
To conclude, I believe there are a few lessons we humans could learn from the animals around us. I like to learn new things so I will be surrounding myself with the animals I have always admired since I was a little girl by becoming involved in a career centered around them.
