Live music is truly the last unifying thing we have as a human collective. Within my life, I truly feel most at home reveling in another artist or musician's presentation of their artistry and message. Music, especially concerts, are my biggest passion in the world. My life goals would include having my music heard and my message received by a crowd that can bring them relatability, belonging, and venerability. I also hope to foster safe spaces for all people of all representations in owning my own venue or independent record label one day and giving all people a space to express themselves freely through the power of art.

Spider-Man Showdown Scholarship
There have been several actors to portray Spiderman on the big screen, and each one of them is very good in their own way. Toby Macguire was great at being Peter Parker, but could have done better when it came to Spiderman. He was not as good as he could have been at making the signature Spidey jokes. All of his humor was just kind of weird when it definitely should not have been, almost as if he was trying too hard to be the witty superhero. Andrew Garfield, however, had the exact opposite problem. He was an amazing Spiderman, but a fairly lackluster Peter Parker. He came off as more of a rebel than a nerd like how Peter is supposed to be. He wore long, layered clothing, rode a skateboard around, and his photography hobby seemed to me like that one kid who picks up random skills just to have some attention from their peers. Now Tom Holland knocked it out of the park in every aspect of the role. He was a great Peter Parker and Spiderman, while making it seem like the same character. With Toby and Andrew it felt like they were both playing two different characters, while Tom was just being one person the entire time. So for those reasons, Tom Holland is my favorite Spiderman.
Anime Enthusiast Scholarship
Most anime shows have some kind of supernatural power system acting as the basis for the entire series. Some go more towards magic, such as Jujutsu Kaisen, while others lean more towards amping up fighting styles, such as Demon Slayer and DragonBall. However most tv shows in general don’t do that great of a job with world building, or creating a history that the main story can lean on. Attack on Titan is the one anime that I could watch repeatedly and never get sick of primarily because of how well the world inside the show was built. The entire series was just people being people, the only difference being that one race is capable of growing really tall. It shows the rebirth of an empire as they enter into a whole new world of technology that they had never even imagined. It shows the viewer government corruption, really cool fight scenes, and great character development. At the start of the show, it is fairly obvious who the good guys are as well as who the bad guys are, but as the show enters into the final season, that dynamic begins to shift. They turned the main character into the villain, and set all of the other people in the world against him. In my mind, there is no beating Attack on Titan.
“The Office” Obsessed! Fan Scholarship
The character from “The Office” I most resonate with is Jim Halpert because he really tries to find humor in everything, or at the very least, find some kind of joy in the little things. I also appreciate how he doesn’t give up on anything that he actually desires. He had a crush on Pam for years before they got together while she was engaged to another man. He also commuted to Philadelphia while helping his friend start a business. He didn’t complain about how his friend used his idea to start a company, he just got to work, which is something I admire. The man is nothing if not determined. I believe “The Office” showed me that work doesn’t just have to be a job and that you can make any environment your home if you truly desire it to be that way. All of those people in that office ended up becoming a family after years of going through all kinds of outlandish situations that one would not expect to come from a regular office job. If nothing else, I developed a bad habit of making stupid jokes and silly faces in the worst possible times because of this show.
Sabrina Carpenter Superfan Scholarship
My admiration for Sabrina began in the sixth grade when I discovered the 1993 sitcom, “Boy Meets World.” It was winter break, and I was looking for some shows to binge-watch. The love story of Corey and Topanga is still one of my favorite romance stories on tv to date. Naturally, after I completed the series, I began to watch its spin-off, “Girl Meets World.” As I watched this show, I fell in love with the character of Maya Hart. I saw things in her that I could see in myself. She’s witty, has a sarcastic sense of humor, and is artistic, like me. Later on, after watching interviews, I discovered that Sabrina shares most of these traits with Maya. Before this, while I watched the show, I looked up the cast as I would usually for movies and tv shows I enjoy. That is when I discovered that the actress who played Maya was Sabrina Carpenter. So, I clicked on her name and found she was also a singer. Her two hits that Google showed were “Thumbs” and “Why,” so I decided to give them a listen and fell in love. I would get shocked whenever I heard her on the radio because that was so rare then. I listened to Sabrina religiously in the eighth grade, months after “The Singular Tour.” This was when my family got Spotify, and music became more accessible. So, I listened to all the songs from her discography. I was upset that I didn’t start listening to her after my first discovery because I would have loved to go to those previous album concert dates. It took three years of listening to the same Sabrina Carpenter songs until the release of her album, “emails i can’t send.” Before its release, she had the infamous drama with Joshua Bassett and Olivia Rodrigo. Yes, she was getting more press, but at what cost? The silver lining out of all of it is that Sabrina fans got an album out of it. I really got to know her through that album and could relate to many of her struggles.
My personal relationship and connection with Sabrina Carpenter through her songs. Her songs relate to my life, like “Exhale,” all of “EVOLution,” and all of “emails i can’t send.” I hated that she was an underrated artist, it was bittersweet because she was still her fans’ little secret. I got to go to the “emails i can’t send” concert with my brother, who is also a giant fan. It felt like Sabrina was getting personal with all her fans because she voiced her experiences by performing songs off the album. It was also a small venue and the first stop on her tour. As an emerging artist, I couldn't even buy tickets for the upcoming tour but seeing her going from small 300 person venues to selling out arenas is so touching and well deserved. I didn't hear her songs on the radio a few years ago, but now three are playing constantly and are at the top of the charts. Before "Feather", radio airplay was nearly unheard of. Seeing her getting to be her authentic self through her art and for so many to be appreciating it is so wonderful. She even has an Olympics commercial now! I love and am proud of Sabrina Carpenter, as she has truly grown like no other artist in her genre. I hope that one day, I can go to another concert, meet her personally, and tell her how she got me through some hard times throughout my life.
“Stranger Things” Fanatic Scholarship
Stranger Things, a show that has easily taken over the world the past eight years. From the endless silly banter to the love for friendships and family, this Netflix series has definitely taught all of us something. It has definitely taught me who I want on my team if a supernatural force ever tried taking over Hawkins again. Some people may think I’m a little wild for my choices, but I truly think my team would be able to take down anything!
For my first pick, I would take Eddie Munson. He was so willing to fight and be there for his friends. The heroic act he pulled when he lead the bats away from the portal in his trailer so he could keep his friends safe, only to soon after sacrifice himself for the cause. This makes him a prime candidate because Eddie is willing to do whatever it takes to complete the mission and protect his friends. He can also cause a mass distraction with noise if needed due to the fact that he can shred to “Master of Puppets” by Metallica once more! Not to mention how genuinely strong he is after seeing him battle a swarm of Demo-Bats in the upside down multiple times, once with just his bare hands and a boat oar.
Steve Harrington would be the second team member I would pick. He’s one of the stronger people of the group already, so having him on my team would help tremendously. He’s even better in the sense of planning an attack, coming up with great and quick ways to take down the enemy. Steve is very much a protector and would go to great lengths to make sure his friends were safe from evil and instead put himself in the face of the threat instead.
For my last teammate, Jim Hopper is the only one that comes to mind. Not only is he a Vietnam War veteran, but he’s also a police officer. He has the strength and morale to get through anything that is thrown his way. His quick thinking and ability to work well with others makes him a prime candidate for my team. He is also incredibly quick with problem solving and can make a change to the plan on a dime. Every team needs a leader and I truthfully believe that Jim Hopper would be the best for that position.
I fully believe that my team could take down a supernatural threat if it ever came to Hawkins again. We have a mix of brains, brawn, and of course some dashing good looks in there. With all great teams come a bit of struggle, but there wouldn’t be a single thing that could get through my team. They always say that the underdogs are some of the very best.
Minecraft Forever Fan Scholarship
When it comes to a timeless game like Minecraft, there’s so many exciting tasks and achievements you can accomplish. From new tasks such as killing the Warden to old activities like exploring a mineshaft in a cave, there are endless things to do in game. My favorite has always been defeating the Ender Dragon. It’s, by far, the best and most nostalgic exciting task of the whole game.
The moment you start a new world is the very second you begin to set yourself up to defeat the dragon. Some would say that “speed running” defeating the dragon is the exciting part, but it’s even more thrilling to take your time and ease up to it. Collecting materials and mining to find your first diamond, debating if it should go towards a sword or a pickaxe— to fighting the multiple Endermen it takes to have enough eye of the ender to not only find the portal, but also fill the missing frames. It was always an exceptionally exciting accomplishment because everyone knew slaying the Ender Dragon as “beating the game”.
Going to The End is especially exciting when you’re completing these things with a friend or group of friends, there’s tons of extra banter and makes tasks run much more smooth. With a group you can also split up tasks and everyone can pitch in to the adventure, boosting the morale of the team. I have always had more fun defeating the dragon with friends, usually finding it less exciting to do alone, often losing the desire to finish within the first few hours of starting.
In all, slaying the Ender Dragon has always been something close to my heart while playing Minecraft. I always get hit with a sense of nostalgia during this since it was always a task my brother and I did together when we were children. I’ve been playing Minecraft for fifteen years and every single time I defeat the dragon, I still get that same giddy feeling I felt as a child. Listening to the dragon explode along with all the little dings of collecting experience and leveling up then watching the title screen running after you jump into the portal to head back to the Overworld— it’s all the little tastes of nostalgia that make it my favorite part of Minecraft.
