FinalistBio
As a dedicated legal studies student in my final undergraduate year, I’m on a mission to advocate for a more just and compassionate world. My journey, shaped by resilience, began as a teen mom, and domestic abuse survivor, I balanced working full-time as a homeowner's insurance underwriter while pursuing my education. These experiences taught me the importance of perseverance and a strong work ethic.
Now, as a proud mom to a nine-year-old non-binary child and twin one-year-old boys, I fiercely champion their rights, believing in a future where everyone thrives. My passion for law is intertwined with my love for philosophy, philanthropy, and the belief that we all agree more than we realize. I’m committed to bridging societal divides with a moderate, inclusive approach, inspired by trailblazers like Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor, aiming to uplift the marginalized.
After earning my associate degree in paralegal studies in 2021, I paused my studies to focus on my career as a paralegal. However, after the birth of my twins in 2023 and the high cost of childcare, my husband and I decided it was the perfect time for me to return to school and pursue my dream of law school. Despite financial struggles, we are determined to create generational abundance through education.
When I’m not studying, you’ll find me gardening, capturing life through my camera, or lifting weights. As an LGBTQIA+ ally, a lover of both Jesus and Buddha, and a veggie-loving herbivore, I bring authenticity, strength, and compassion to everything I do.

From a young age, I learned the importance of standing up for those who are often overlooked or misunderstood. Growing up with an older brother who has autism, I witnessed firsthand the harsh reality of how society can treat individuals who are perceived as different. My brother faced bullying and exclusion, not because of anything he did, but simply because he struggled with sensory stimuli and social norms that others took for granted. Watching him work tirelessly to overcome these barriers while others labeled him as "weird" left a profound impact on me.
This experience instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility to advocate for those who cannot always advocate for themselves. I realized early on that everyone has their own struggles, often hidden from view, and that our differences should be met with understanding and compassion rather than judgment. I began standing up for my brother and others like him, not through physical confrontations, but by using my voice and education to defend and support them. This drive to protect and uplift others has stayed with me into adulthood, fueling my passion for justice and my desire to pursue a career in law.
The law, in its ideal form, is a tool for justice—a means to protect the vulnerable, ensure fairness, and uphold the rights of all individuals. However, access to legal resources and representation is often limited, particularly for marginalized communities. This reality has only strengthened my resolve to become an attorney who can provide these resources to those who need them most. I want to practice law not just as a profession, but as a calling to make a tangible difference in the lives of others.
As I’ve grown, I’ve seen injustices in society that echo the struggles my brother faced. Whether it’s discrimination based on disability, race, gender identity, or socioeconomic status, I am deeply troubled by the ways in which certain groups are systematically disadvantaged. These injustices compel me to act, to be a part of the solution, and to work towards a more equitable and just society. Law school is the next step in this journey, equipping me with the knowledge and skills necessary to effect meaningful change.
I am driven by the ambition to stand up for those who may not have the resources to stand up for themselves. My brother’s experiences taught me that everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and treated with dignity. As an attorney, I will be committed to ensuring that the law serves as a shield for those who are marginalized and a platform for their voices to be amplified. My goal is to provide access to justice for those who need it most, and to use the law to create a world where no one is judged for being different, but rather celebrated for their unique strengths and perspectives.
In conclusion, I want to practice law to carry forward the lessons I learned from my brother: to stand up for the underdog, to fight for justice, and to ensure that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to thrive. This passion, drive, and ambition to make a difference is what motivates me to pursue a legal career, and I am committed to using my education to make the world a more just and compassionate place.

As I prepare to enter law school, I am deeply motivated by the opportunity to use my education to create positive change in the world. My journey is rooted in a commitment to justice, equity, and compassion, and I am driven by a desire to address the pressing social issues that affect marginalized communities. My life experiences, especially as a mother to a non-binary child, have shaped my perspective and fueled my determination to advocate for those whose voices are often unheard.
One of my primary areas of focus is civil rights, particularly in advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights. Witnessing the challenges my child faces has instilled in me a profound understanding of the importance of legal protections for individuals who are often marginalized. I am passionate about working towards a legal landscape where everyone, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation, can live authentically and without fear of discrimination. My goal is to contribute to the development and enforcement of laws that protect and uplift LGBTQIA+ individuals, ensuring that their rights are respected and upheld.
Beyond civil rights, I am deeply committed to addressing the broader social and economic disparities that affect disadvantaged communities. I believe that law can be a powerful tool for social change, and I am passionate about using my legal education to advocate for policies that promote equity and access to essential resources. Issues such as poverty, access to healthcare, and education reform are areas where I see the potential for significant impact. I want to work on crafting and implementing policies that not only address the immediate needs of vulnerable populations but also create sustainable pathways for long-term improvement in their lives.
My approach to advocacy is informed by a belief in the power of dialogue and compromise. In today’s polarized political climate, I see a critical need for voices that can bridge divides and find common ground. I aspire to be a legal advocate who brings people together, finding solutions that respect diverse perspectives while advancing justice and fairness. My role models, such as Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor, have shown that it is possible to achieve meaningful change through thoughtful, principled advocacy, and I hope to follow in their footsteps.
In addition to my legal work, I am committed to civic engagement and community service. I believe that being a lawyer is not just about practicing law; it’s about being an active and engaged member of society. Whether through pro bono work, volunteering, or supporting grassroots initiatives, I intend to use my skills and knowledge to contribute to the betterment of my community.
In sum, my legal education will be a platform for making a tangible difference in the world. I am passionate about civil rights, social justice, and the pursuit of policies that create a more equitable society. Through my work, I hope to honor the values that drive me and to contribute to a future where all individuals have the opportunity to thrive.
