I love learning about new things and being able to implement it into my daily life. I am currently in the Air Force Active Duty, and I have been in for about 3 years as an Aircraft Mechanic. I was originally on the B-52sand C-5s. I recently became a Unit Training Manager, and I love it so far because I am in a more productive space by being able to directly influence the squadron. I love being in the military because it has provided me with knowledge and experiences that I probably would have never gotten. However, I would love to get more money in order to continue my education because I do love learning new things. With my education, I would love to insert myself into the healthcare field. My current degree I am working on, is my Bachelor's in Science for Health Science. Then, afterwards I would like to get my Master's in Public Administration.

Women in Healthcare Scholarship
I have chosen to pursue a degree in healthcare because of my inherent desire to make a tangible difference in people's lives. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the profound impact that healthcare professionals have on individuals and communities, and I knew that I wanted to be a part of that transformative process. Moreover, my passion for understanding the intricacies of human biology, coupled with a genuine interest in promoting wellness and preventing illness, solidified my decision to embark on a career in healthcare.
Health Science, with its multidisciplinary approach encompassing various facets of health and wellness, resonated with me deeply. Through this program, I have had the opportunity to delve into a wide range of subjects, including anatomy, physiology, epidemiology, health policy, and healthcare management. This comprehensive understanding of the healthcare landscape has equipped me with a diverse skill set and a holistic perspective that I believe will be invaluable in addressing the complex health challenges of our time.
As a woman in the healthcare field, I am acutely aware of the unique opportunities and challenges that come with this role. Historically, women have played pivotal roles in healthcare, yet gender disparities persist in terms of representation in leadership positions and access to resources and opportunities. As such, I am committed to leveraging my position to advocate for gender equity and inclusivity in healthcare.
One of the ways I hope to make a positive impact as a woman in the healthcare field is by advocating for policies and initiatives that promote gender diversity and equality. This includes supporting initiatives aimed at increasing the representation of women in leadership positions, advocating for equal pay and opportunities for career advancement, and addressing gender-based barriers to accessing healthcare services.
Furthermore, I aspire to be a champion for women's health and reproductive rights, advocating for comprehensive and accessible healthcare services that meet the diverse needs of women across the lifespan. From promoting preventive care and maternal health to advancing research on women's health issues and advocating for policies that ensure reproductive autonomy, I am committed to advancing the health and well-being of women and girls worldwide.
In addition to advocacy and policy work, I also recognize the importance of mentorship and role modeling in empowering the next generation of women healthcare professionals. As a woman in a leadership role, I aspire to serve as a mentor and role model for other aspiring healthcare professionals, providing guidance, support, and encouragement as they navigate their own career paths.
In conclusion, my decision to pursue a degree in Health Science is driven by a deep-seated passion for healthcare and a commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others. As a woman in the healthcare field, I am dedicated to advocating for gender equity, advancing women's health, and empowering the next generation of healthcare leaders. Together, we can work towards a future where everyone has access to quality healthcare services and opportunities for optimal health and well-being.
Jeannine Schroeder Women in Public Service Memorial Scholarship
In tackling the critical issue of environmental sustainability, I've embraced a multifaceted and comprehensive approach that spans education, advocacy, personal action, community engagement, and collaboration across sectors.
First and foremost, I've recognized the paramount importance of education and awareness-raising in fostering a deeper understanding of environmental challenges and the imperative for sustainable solutions. To this end, I've been actively involved in organizing and participating in educational workshops, seminars, and public awareness campaigns aimed at informing individuals and communities about the pressing environmental issues we face, such as climate change, pollution, deforestation, and loss of biodiversity. By empowering people with knowledge and insights into the interconnectedness of human activities and the health of our planet, we can inspire meaningful action and behavior change towards more sustainable lifestyles and practices.
In addition to education, advocacy plays a pivotal role in driving systemic change and policy reforms to address environmental degradation and promote sustainable development. I've engaged in advocacy efforts at various levels, from grassroots activism to lobbying policymakers and advocating for legislative action. This includes participating in marches, rallies, and protests to demand urgent climate action, as well as collaborating with environmental organizations and networks to amplify our collective voice and influence decision-making processes. By advocating for policies that prioritize renewable energy, conservation, and environmental justice, we can effectuate meaningful change and pave the way towards a more sustainable future for all.
Furthermore, I've made a concerted effort to lead by example through personal actions and lifestyle choices that prioritize environmental sustainability. This involves adopting eco-friendly practices in daily routines, such as reducing waste, conserving energy and water, minimizing carbon emissions, and supporting sustainable and ethical products and businesses. By living in alignment with my values and demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of sustainable living, I seek to inspire others to follow suit and collectively contribute to positive environmental outcomes.
Moreover, I've actively engaged with my local community to foster a culture of environmental stewardship and collective action. This includes volunteering with local environmental organizations and initiatives, participating in community clean-up events, tree planting activities, and habitat restoration projects, and collaborating with schools, businesses, and community groups to promote environmental education and awareness. By mobilizing collective efforts and building strong partnerships within our communities, we can amplify our impact and effect positive change at the grassroots level.
Finally, I recognize the importance of fostering collaboration and partnerships across sectors to address environmental challenges effectively. By working together with government agencies, businesses, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and other stakeholders, we can leverage our collective expertise, resources, and influence to implement innovative solutions, scale up successful initiatives, and drive systemic change towards a more sustainable and resilient future.
In conclusion, my approach to addressing environmental sustainability is rooted in a holistic and interdisciplinary framework that integrates education, advocacy, personal action, community engagement, and collaboration. By combining these complementary strategies and leveraging the power of collective action, I am committed to contributing to positive environmental outcomes and building a more sustainable world for current and future generations.
Your Dream Music Scholarship
When it comes to music, my top five music artists are Ari Lennox, Frank Ocean, Sza, Drake, and Doja Cat. Out of all five of them, there is just one that I can relate to the most despite some of her comedic releases, such as MOOO! After Doja Cat released MOOO! many people discounted her, but she can sing with so much emotion, which can be heard in her albums Amala and Planet Her.
The song that has the most important message comes from the album Planet Her and it is called "Alone." In the song, Doja Cat is singing about having to cut off her significant other because the relationship that they once had is no longer healthy and has become extremely toxic. The relationship has gotten so toxic that she is beginning to lose herself, and eventually, she realizes that she is better off alone. Doja Cat sings about how she is no longer afraid to be alone and that she is tired of losing herself in toxic relationships.
This relationship has the most important message compared to other songs that I listen to because oftentimes people get stuck in relationships that are not healthy for them because they are afraid of being alone. Doja Cat spreads the message that it is ok to be alone and that the listener should want peace rather than war.
Veterans Next Generation Scholarship
United States Army Veteran and United States Marine Veteran is something that my family lineage is full of. My grandparents on my mom's side of the family are United States Army Veterans, and my grandpa on my dad's side of the family is a U.S. Marine Veteran. My dad is a U.S. Army Veteran. Growing up with my dad being in the U.S. Army was extremely tough, due to the fact that we were stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and my dad had to deploy a lot due to the fact that he was in the 82nd Airborne. After a while, my dad finally got orders to have a permanent change of station, but my mom decided that she did not want to move anymore because she did not want my education to keep being interrupted because of the possibility of getting more orders to change duty locations is always a possibility.
Living away from my dad, affected the entire dynamic of the family in many different ways, and there was always some type of turmoil. When I got older, we were finally able to have important father-and daughter-conversations that helped me realize why he had to be away for long periods of time, such as there being deployments, more orders to change duty stations because that is what the mission needed, and many other things happening in life.
After having these talks, my viewpoint shifted from having an extreme dislike for the military to having a better understanding of what my dad and other family members were a part of. I was finally seeing the bigger picture. This shaped my aspirations and made me want to be a part of the bigger picture. I was inspired to join the military. However, unlike my family members joining the United States Army or United States Marines, I decided to join the United States Air Force. This decision was based on the advice my dad gave. I went to Basic Military Training in July 2019, and I have been in for over three years. I have met so many different people who have all taught me something new. Every year, I gain more memories and even more reasons to stay in the military. Along with the memories, my being in the military has shaped me into a better leader and made me have a closer bond with my dad and my grandparents.
Ms. Susy’s Disney Character Scholarship
Ariel, Pocahontas, Tiana, Mulan, Cinderella, and many others are all Disney Princesses. When people think about a Disney princess, a couple of traits come to mind. A few of those traits include, focused, loving, caring, smart, hardworking, and brave individuals. They are extremely admirable, and when I was younger I would strive to be just like them in many different aspects of my life and continue to do so. Out of the few Disney Princesses that I mentioned, my favorite is Princess Tiana.
The first time I saw Princess Tiana, I was about 8 years old. I was in awe because she was an African American Disney Princess, someone who looked like me. From that day on, she has always been my favorite Disney Princess. Princess Tiana is considerably the most relatable Disney princess in my eyes. In the beginning, Princess Tiana is working in a diner, so that she can get the life that she wants, and in the end, she gets everything that she dreamed of and worked hard for. Essentially, her philosophy is that you can achieve your dreams if you are focused and work hard for them.
I have adopted this philosophy into my life because I have so many aspirations and goals, and I am in a similar spot as Tiana where I have to work extremely hard because of the things that I would like to achieve, which is ranking up in the military, while also attending school for my Bachelor’s, will not just be handed to me. Long hours are now the new norm because once I am out of work, I am back to work in my personal life to achieve a degree.
Even though Princess Tiana is a fictional character, she is extremely inspiring, and when I start a family, she will be the first Disney Princess that I show to my children.

My goal in life is to be financially stable, so that I can support my family with little to no worries, while working a job that I truly enjoy.
Bold Persistence Scholarship
Throughout life, I have had many obstacles, and to be completely honest a majority of them stemmed from the lack of money in the household, which was not too bad until I went to high school. When I was in high school, my parents ended up getting a divorce, which was a complete shock to me. The divorce followed up with my dad getting remarried and having about 5 more children afterwards. Before and during this time, my mom was practically a single mother, doing everything she could in order to set me up for success. Knowing this, I decided to join the military, so that I could take some weight off of her hands, so about a month after high school graduation, I went to bootcamp. Bootcamp was extremely rough because it was the first time I was away from my mother for an extended period of time with no contact. However, I overcame this obstacle by thinking about the end goal, which would be the fact that I would get some money for school. This is where another obstacle comes in though because when you are joining they fail to tell you that everything is limited. I will not let this deter me from my dreams of becoming a facet in the STEM world because I believe that it is extremely important for there to be more people like me in STEM. This way my siblings can have someone to look up to. They will see me overcome challenges in life and learn from my mistakes. Especially because I am so close to achieving my goal of having a Bachelor's degree.
Jae'Sean Tate BUILT Scholarship
Currently, I am in the United States Air Force. My job is to fix the communication and navigation systems on the B-52. Next summer, I will be joining the regular workforce, and I would like to complete my Bachelor's of Science for Computational Mathematics with an emphasis on computer science before I get out of the military. This will help me a little bit with trying to find a STEM based job, or at least help me get a head because ultimately I would like to continue my education. My current goal, besides my current degree plan, is to achieve my Masters in mathematics, but eventually I would like to pursue a Ph’d. I chose this field of study because I have always been math inclined, and I was able to pair this with another field that I was interested in, which was computer science because I have always wanted to learn how to code and how programming works. I also knew that this would be a good degree for a magnitude of jobs that I would possibly like to pursue in the STEM career field, such as software developer, software engineer, and many others. When it comes to finding a job in the STEM career field, the one that sticks out to me the most to me is becoming a software developer. It combines things that I intend to get good at, coding, along with something that I love to do, create, in one job. Developing web pages and their functions will allow me to see the beginning of something great that I created especially when I will have to maintain and optimize the value of the product.

Hobbies Matter
When it comes to trying new things in order to gain an enjoyable hobby, I have tried many different things. I am currently in North Dakota, which happened to be my first duty station, and I have learned and tried many different things. A few of those things being outside activities, such as snowboarding, running events, such as 5ks, skiing, swimming, or at least attempting to, and a few activities being indoor, such as weightlifting, ice skating, volunteering for different events around town, and even getting tattoos.
Out of all of the activities that I have tried, it is safe to say that I prefer indoor hobbies, especially because I work outside where the temperatures can be extremely cold, so I prefer to be warm. My hobby right now is definitely weightlifting, and more specifically powerlifting. I love powerlifting for many reasons, but the main ones are more geared to the health side of things. Lifting weights in general is a way to exert my negative energy and emotions into something that can better me. In the past, I would do this with running, but I get a different type of high when it comes to being able to lift more weights each time and even becoming a stronger version of myself. Weightlifting allows for me to challenge myself in a positive way, and I can easily say working out is my addiction. It allows me to have measurable goals that I can work towards.
For example, I am currently working on becoming apart of the 500 club, which is being able to deadlift, squat, and bench press a combination of 500 pounds. Slowly but surely, I am getting there. Right now, I can squat 175 pounds, deadlift 180 pounds, and bench press 50 pounds, which means that I am 125 pounds away from obtaining this goal, and all it will take is a month or two of hard work to reach this.
Working out has definitely been my saving grace and allows me to decompress after a long day of work.
