Hi! My name is Khushi, and I'm a sophomore at Diablo Valley College. I'm majoring in photography, graphic design, and studio art. I think it's pretty clear that I'm a creative, artistic person. However, I'm even more passionate about creating a positive impact on the world, not only for myself but for future generations as well. After completing two years at DVC, I plan to transfer to a four-year university. My dream school is UC San Diego. Wherever I end up attending, I want to combine my personal passions with my passion for a better world by double majoring in media and international relations, with the aspiration to become a diplomat. I'm a fantastic scholarship candidate because I love and value education. Learning new things is a huge passion of mine. I love to challenge myself and push past my boundaries. The pandemic hit as I was graduating middle school, so my freshman year of high school was fully virtual. Instead of returning to in-person school the next year, I took the opportunity to enroll in an independent study program. The program allowed me to tailor my education to my own needs and skills, and I ended up graduating as a sophomore, at the age of fifteen. I had already been taking classes at DVC in high school, so I enrolled as a full-time student right after graduating. One of my biggest goals in life is to travel to new places. Exposure to different cultures is important to me. Diplomacy will help me do so, while also doing good around the world on behalf of the United States.

It all began with a simple decision – the decision to prioritize my well-being and make conscious efforts to lead a healthier life. I realized that my health wasn't an afterthought, but rather the cornerstone of a fulfilling and joyful existence. With this newfound determination, I took my first step towards a healthier lifestyle – regular exercise. Exercise became my sanctuary, a time to disconnect from the stress of daily life and reconnect with myself. I started with brisk walks and gradually incorporated more intensive workouts into my routine. The physical benefits were undeniable, but the mental and emotional rewards were equally significant. I felt more energetic, positive, and confident. Each day, I looked forward to this invigorating practice, and soon enough, it became an integral part of my daily life. Another significant change I embraced was the importance of quality sleep. Prioritizing a consistent sleep schedule allowed me to wake up refreshed and ready to seize each day with enthusiasm. If I had a car, the journey would be a breeze in just fifteen minutes! But that hasn't stopped me from pursuing my passions with unwavering dedication. On top of the transportation hurdles, my parents and I have faced discrimination from extended family members due to various factors such as our social and financial status, and even my gender. As a result, my support system outside of my immediate family is limited. Despite these challenges, I refuse to let anything hinder my aspirations. They trap heat in the Earth's atmosphere, causing temperatures to rise and leading to a range of negative impacts, including a rise in sea levels, more frequent severe weather events, and the loss of biodiversity. Therefore, reducing greenhouse gas emissions is critical to combat these issues. One of the most effective ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is by transitioning to renewable energy sources, such as wind, solar, and hydropower. These sources of energy produce little to no greenhouse gas emissions and are becoming increasingly cost-competitive with fossil fuels. Governments can encourage this transition by offering incentives for renewable energy development and investing in research. Another critical approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions is by promoting energy efficiency. By eating more plant-based foods, we can reduce our environmental impact. Many everyday products, such as cleaning supplies and personal care items, contain harmful chemicals that can harm the environment and wildlife. The Capital One and Honey extensions are some of my favorite ways to save a few dollars on online purchases. I've saved money on textbooks, art supplies, and more that I needed to buy for my classes.     The song with a message that’s had the deepest impact on me to date is Free Me by Anees. He wrote this song to empower people to leave toxic relationships. Making careful decisions about who I choose to surround myself with is especially important to me as we start a new year. I want to make new friends this year. However, I want to make sure those friends are good influences and support me as much as I support them. If someone makes me uncomfortable, I want to set boundaries and keep my distance from them. As the lyric goes, “I love myself enough to keep some space from you.” I love how this song promotes self-love and encourages listeners to free themselves from bonds they no longer wish to keep. Some people say that you shouldn’t burn bridges. I agree. Sometimes, however, the deconstruction of certain bridges is necessary to have enough material to build new ones. This song has not yet been released. However, the short clips released by Anees and his team on social media have been enough to keep me and many other fans hooked to the positive message of the words. I’m eagerly counting down the hours and minutes until Free Me drops in three days. I’ve never heard anything like it before.
